What are eBooks and eAudiobooks? <ul><li>Digital versions of books. </li></ul><ul><li>eBooks are digital versions of books that can be read online. </li></ul><ul><li>eAudiobooks are digital versions of audio books that can be downloaded and listened to on a computer or on a portable device. </li></ul>
  3. 3. How does it work? <ul><li>Step 1: Visit the Library to create an account with Netlibrary. </li></ul><ul><li>This can be done at any of the public computers. </li></ul><ul><li>From our homepage, click on the “Download eAudiobooks” button. </li></ul>
  4. 4. How does it work? <ul><li>Or…. </li></ul><ul><li>You now have the option to set up your account from home. </li></ul><ul><li>From our homepage, click the link for more information about downloadable audiobooks and follow the step by step instructions. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Both methods direct you to the Netlibrary website. </li></ul><ul><li>You can now create their account by clicking on the “Create a Free Account” link in the upper right hand corner. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>Now you can search the Netlibrary site for titles by keyword, title, author or subject. </li></ul><ul><li>Or you can browse subjects within the eAudiobook category. </li></ul>

  8. 8. <ul><li>This is a search result for the author Alexander McCall Smith. </li></ul><ul><li>Note that you can select the option to sort by “Newest First” to see the most recent titles at the top of the screen. </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>After selecting the title, you can download the version you would like to listen to. </li></ul><ul><li>Note that you must download the CD Quality version in order to transfer it to a portable MP3 player. </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>It is recommended that you download and save the audiobook to your computer, then double click the file to open it. It should automatically open using Windows Media Player. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>When you open the file in Windows Media Player it will then guide you through acquiring the license to play the file. The license is good for 21 days (this is your checkout period). </li></ul><ul><li>Note: you can easily renew your book after 21 days by repeating this process. </li></ul>
  12. 12. <ul><li>Now you can listen to the audio book on your computer or transfer it to a portable device. </li></ul>
  13. 13. <ul><li>To transfer, plug in your player, then click the “Library” tab. </li></ul><ul><li>The file you are playing should show up under “Sync List”. </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the name of the audiobook, then click on “Start Sync” to copy it to the device. </li></ul><ul><li>This step may vary depending on the version of Windows Media Player. </li></ul>
  14. 14. <ul><li>Another way to find eAudiobooks is to search in the Library’s online catalog. </li></ul><ul><li>For this example I am searching for anything in the Pimsleur language series. </li></ul>
  15. 15. <ul><li>The search results bring up both physical copies located in the Library as well as electronic versions. </li></ul><ul><li>Electronic versions can be identified by the computer icon and the [electronic resource] wording in the title. </li></ul>
  16. 16. <ul><li>Some items that might not be available in the Library will always be available for download. </li></ul>
  17. 17. <ul><li>When you click on the item you will find the link to download it on the detail page. </li></ul>
