Objectives  Online examination will reduce the hectic job of assessing the answers given by the candidates manually  Responses by the candidates will be checked automatically and instantly  Being an integrated Online examination system it will reduce paper work  Questions can have multiple options, multiple answers or can be text answers  To allow faculty to give additional time to students with disabilities.  To allow faculty to create tests and answer key.  To allow automatic grading and manual grading which can be recorded per test.  Random generation of test question Timed exams

Objectives  The result will be shown immediately to the participating students  Can generate various report and graphs for evaluation purpose almost instantly when and where required  Online Examination project assesses students by conducting online objective tests.  The tests would be highly customizable.  This project will enable educational institutes to conduct test and have automated checking of answers based on the response by the candidates.  The project allows faculties to create their own tests. It would enable educational institutes to perform tests, quiz and create feedback forms.  It asks faculty to create his/her set of questions. This project would be helpful for creating practice tests, say for educational institutes and as a feedback form.

Proposed Solution  Develop a system which allows the faculty to create, modify and store questions which can be grouped together to form sections and these sections can be grouped together to form tests/examinations.  Section and Questions are configurable  Allow Students to write the test when ever they want  Build test automatically based on the professor’s preferences
  6. 6. SCOPE: Scope of this project is very broad in terms of other manually taking exams. Few of them are:-  This can be used in educational institutions as well as in corporate world.  Can be used anywhere any time as it is a web based application(user Location doesn’t matter).  No restriction that examiner has to be present when the candidate takes the test.  Design to facilitate Administrator and User  Online examination is designed for educational institutes like Schools ,colleges and private institutes to conduct logic tests of their students or employees on regular basis

Administrator Aspect:-  Taking backup of the database.  Editing/Deleting/Creating the database.  Changing the password.  Logging into the system.  Accepting registrations of candidates.  Creating a test.  Posting questions in the above test.  Posting multiple options to respective question.  Marking correct answer within the given options.  Time limit of the test if any.  Whether to randomize the questions.  Set negative marks for wrong responses.
  8. 8. Student Aspect:-  Requesting registration.  Logging into the system.  Edit user information.  Selecting the test.  Appearing for the examination.  Printing the result at the end of the examination.  Reviewing the given responses.
  9. 9. Analysis:-  Authenticating users based on username and password.  Keeping session track of user activity.  Recording candidates’ responses to every question.  Checking whether the given response is correct or not.  Keeping history of test reports of all users.

Flexiblity: Work when it make sense for you - at night, morning, wee-hours. You're not tied to a class schedule (usually). Exams can be assembled and previewed, edited and published instantly. Your question and tests can be conducted and assembled wherever there is a computer and an network connection.

Data security :-  The answering process begins with the student logging in and selecting the paper which he is authorized to answer.  The student then answers and submits the paper and is automatically evaluated.  The time of starting and completion of examination can be recorded at the server and the student cannot manipulate the same.  Hence Authorized , secure & protected.

Advantages Of Online Examination  Physical presence at a given location is absolutely not necessary  No time is spent on evaluation  Results are available instantly  The time of starting and completion of examination can be recorded at the server and the student cannot manipulate the same.  Almost all competitive exams are multiple choice types question and these can be easily conducted by online, for example GCET - Goa Common Entrance Test held to shortlist candidates for medical and engineering courses  Can be easily accessed 24/7 over the open test period  Can be timed to allow Y minutes to answer X number of questions  Can take advantage of special material like media,video, audio, or pictures

Secure because of authentication . Online exams - Convenience, security and flexibility. Exams can be assembled and previewed, edited and published instantly. The time of starting and completion of examination can be recorded at the server and the student cannot manipulate the same. This can include facility to include flash videos and big size pictures in the questions. You can see just how much progress a student has made, you can judge the progress of many students at once, you can see if any subject should be re-taught or explained differently
