The history of golf

  2. 2. <ul><ul><li>Not sure where golf started </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Experts believe golf originated on the coast of Scotland </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Around the 12 th or 15 th century </li></ul></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>The first golfer would just hit a rock into a hole in the ground. </li></ul><ul><li>Later they used clubs and a ball. </li></ul><ul><li>When they took golf as a serious sport they invented the golf course. </li></ul><ul><li>They used wooden clubs to hit the ball. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Early golfers would just see how many hits it would take them to try and get it in the hole. </li></ul><ul><li>Many golfers today still use that same method. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Early golf clubs were carved out of wood. </li></ul><ul><li>A while after the wooden clubs ,that they invented the medal club. </li></ul><ul><li>With the medal club could hit the ball farther and would not break as easy. </li></ul><ul><li>The first golf ball was made out of thin strips of leather made into a ball and was stuffed with goose feathers. </li></ul><ul><li>The next ball was the wooden ball carved out of trees </li></ul><ul><li>Next was the rubber ball, they could hit this one farther than the other ones. </li></ul><ul><li>Modern day golf balls are made out of pressurized cores and several layers of urethane. </li></ul>
