Can you believe this tree trunk?
Each grade is responsible for maintaining a
plot of land. These seedlings are grown in the
greenhouse and then planted in the fields by
the students.
Dan with his teacher, Anna, demonstrated
his field science project.
The entrance to the school which was
started in 1991.
The eagle is flying in for a landing on the
observatory deck.
2. This is the nest of a striped tail hummingbird. She collects
moss, lichen, spider web string and fern hair to make this
exquisite home where she will lay two eggs. In order to keep
the babies warm, the materials used allow the nest to expand
as the babies grow.
Although it may be difficult to tell, this is a howler
monkey who is high up in the canopy. It is the 2nd
largest monkey in Costa Rica. He was swinging
through the trees but didn’t show his face.
We were high in the Monteverde cloud
forest---elevation 5223 feet.
This is an orange knee tarantula.
3. At the entrance to the Monteverde gift shop there
was a hummingbird garden with birds flying right
by your face.
How many birds do you see at this feeder?
This is a dancing lady orchid. Many of the more
than 500 species of orchids that live in the rain
forest, are high up in the trees.
This black guan is the largest bird in the
cloud forest.
This colorful orange flower is in the
coconut family.
