Introduction The Ministry of Information & Orientation is the image maker of the State government and at the same time, the number one tool or agent for orientation and re – orientation of the citizens towards the restoration envisioned by this administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES Publicizing the daily activities of government via mass communication media. Creating citizens awareness and encouraging participation in various public affairs programme and governmental activities. Serving as catalyst for positive change and orientation among the citizens and the State work force. Facilitating feedback from the public to the government

SHORT TERM ACTION PLAN (Restoration). 3 MONTHS EQUIPPING THE MINISTRY /PARASTATALS (Material Resources). Resuscitation of all weekly programmes and briefing on radio and television – “Spotlight on Oyo State”, “Aboree” Provision of modern digital Cameras for still Photography and Video shoot. Provision of Computers and printers for the purpose of processing, editing and printing of pictures and video productions. Provision digital console and equipments for editing of radio and TV productions. Equipping the BCOS and its transmitter stations to cover the whole of Oyo State while assisting the State in information dissemination. Re-orientation of the civil service to buy in to the new vision
SHORT TERM ACTION PLAN (Restoration). Human Resources. There is urgent need to recruit new set of personnel schooled in handling of modern gadgets and equipments to handle the functions of the technical crews of the ministry from recording to production and presentation. This we shall do with the support of His Excellency. We shall re-train the current staff and technical personnel to suit the required modern functions. The situation with most of the recommended training and seminar programme must be changed while recommendation of any staff for such shall be based on relevance of the course content to the needs assessment which shall be done periodically by the research and statistics and Administration Directorate from time to time. In- house training that is relevant to operations and administration shall be organised from time to time while qualified professionals shall be invited periodically to do this. Effective use shall henceforth be made of information officers at the Zonal and Local Government levels throughout the State.
MEDIUM TERM (Transformation) 12 -24 mths Turning the archival materials into wealth. Opening up the photographic studio to the public with modern equipment and trained hands to render services. Deploying the film unit to income generation activities while carrying on governmental activities at the same time. Development of standardised sound and video production and editing studio. Developing and assisting in training apprentices thus becoming job creating Agent Production of TV and Radio Programmes in line with orientation functions of the Ministry. Resuscitation of all zonal information offices through out the state and establishment of more of such
LONG TERM PLAN. (Repositioning) 36 – 48 mths Hosting of BCOS on satellite television as a reputable television channel. Establishment of state newspaper Commercialisation of Government Printing Press
CONCLUSION 70% execution of the short term and medium term plan of the Ministry will definitely turn it into an agent of change in line with the vision of the current administration and equally reposition it into an independent ministry that will regularly compliment the State Government effort in repositioning Oyo State.
