Technology Description<br /> <br />WCF (or other words – Coal Water Slurry – CWS) is very similar to heating oil (mazut) by viscosity and density and could be used on existing coal and gas (or oil) boilers and power stations.<br />Combustion of coal in a form of WCF allows to utilize coal up to 99% (combustion efficiency). High efficiency reduces the cost price of produced energy (Gcal, Btu, kW*h), reduces emissions into the atmosphere.<br />Comparing to layer-to-layer coal combustion WCF saves from 15% to 30% of coal.<br />Comparing to pulverized coal combustion WCF reduces NOx and SO2 emissions, reduces sensitivity to quality of initial coal, has other handling benefits.<br />2<br />Amalthea, Group of Company, http://vodougol.ru<br />WaterCoal Fuel (WCF) consists of fine-dispersive mixture of powdered coal, water and (sometimes) plasticizer. <br />WCF = Coal (58%...70%) + Water (29%…40%) + Additives(&lt;1%)<br />

History of WCF<br />Initially WCF was considered in USSR as an opportunity to:<br />Reduce delivery expensesfor moving coal from mines to consumers<br />Way to utilize coal slurries (sledges)<br />Since 1989 to 1993 coal pipeline Belovo-Novosibirsk (262 km length) was constructed in Russia.<br />WCF was produced in Belovo, then transported to Novosibirsk through the coal-pipeline and combusted in TEC-5 (power station of Novosibirsk)<br />Combustion of WCF in Novosibirsk confirmed ecological and economical advantages of WCF comapring to regular coal combustion.<br />Project was postponed in Russia because of extremely low oil&gas price in Russia<br /> Since 2004 Moscow company JSC “Amalthea” gathered all knowledge about WCF technology and developed it from scientific researches to commercial-ready product.<br />Amalthea, Group of Company, http://vodougol.ru<br />3<br />
