Direct Quote<br />In her article about using humor in library instruction, Billie Walker (2006) notes, “One of the challenges facing the teaching librarian is in reaching students, particularly when they are tired and unmotivated” (p. 123).<br />Walker, B.E.   4. 4. Paraphrase<br />Original Source:Students frequently overuse direct quotation in taking notes, and as a result they overuse quotations in the final [research] paper. Probably only about 10% of your final manuscript should appear as directly quoted matter.   5. 5. Paraphrase<br />Example 1:Students often use too many direct quotations when they take notes, resulting in too many of them in the final research paper. In fact, probably only about 10% of the final copy should consist of directly quoted material.
