  2. 2. DON’T buy white furniture or décor if you have young children or if you have indoor pets. Even though white looks classy and timeless, it’s an absolute nightmare to clean and maintain.
  3. 3. DO use lighting - lamps are a great way to create a relaxing atmosphere around your home. DO use candles for soft lighting - You always want to set the scene when it comes to having a space that feels glam.
  4. 4. DON’T forget about seating – everyone loves open spaces and spacious rooms, but each space, especially the living room area, should have enough seating.
  5. 5. DO mix it up with your furniture in the space. If you already have a matching set, you should try switching out a piece or two with a set in another room.
  6. 6. DON’T fill your bookshelves with only books. × Instead, DO take advantage of your bookshelf space by placing some memorabilia or photos on the shelves to create a personalised focal point that will interest your guests.
  7. 7. DO use dramatic colour in a small space. Using bright or patterned colours in a big space in which you will be spending a lot of time might make the space feel top heavy. So add dramatic colour to small spaces in the house, like the pantry, hallway, or guest bathroom.
