  2. 2. 37 677 plugins at wordpress.org Free for anybody to use Why do it?

  4. 4. Improve your code quality Peer review, just like in science! Linus law  “Given enough eyes all bugs are shallow” Testing, bug reports,multi-environment quality assurance.. ..but if you release code that is total crap,it will most likely remain just that!
  5. 5. Get contributors There is nothing like the smell of fresh pull requests in the morning... Yes,some people are willing to write code for you (but not your whole project)
  6. 6. Learn from others, with others When your code is in the open, you'll get opportunities to discuss it,get feedback, improve it –and yourself When you are open, others will approach you If you lend shoes to a friend they might wear out.Ideas are the opposite –the more you use it,the more it creates value!
  7. 7. Get respect and admiration Potential customers Potential employees Potential employers Something to impress girls/boys in the bar with? At least at a WP conference!
