Introduction The biggest potential challenge regarding facilitators is the tension between intrinsic facilitator motivations on the one hand and their facilitating role within a non-hierarchical, interdisciplinary, bottom-up communication setting during the structured chats on the other hand. As described in the (Dutch language) document Training programma 2017 good practices en lessons learned different intrinsic facilitator motivations come with different challenges:  The challenges of intrinsic facilitator motivation ambition are avoiding power struggles and avoiding hierarchical distancing between facilitators and participants;  The challenges of intrinsic facilitator motivation professional specialisation are avoiding an increased narrowing of the topics and communication style to suit the specialisation of the facilitator and avoiding hierarchical distancing between facilitators and participants who would then rather be seen as patients or clients. It is assumed that the less hierarchical mindset facilitators posses, the less likely the challenges will occur, and the more hierarchical mindset facilitators possess the more likely the challenges will occur. The aim for facilitators in the online environment is to abandon a “more hierarchical mindset” and expand a “less hierarchical mindset”. The pilot facilitator questionnaire measures the mindsets of the facilitators before the pilot and after the pilot. For the pilot to be seen as effective the facilitator scores after the pilot should be lower individually and cumulatively after the pilot in comparison to the scores before the pilot. You need to send the questionnaire to your facilitators in advance of the first structured chat session with participants and after the last structured chat session with participants.

Calculating facilitator scores Questionnaire statements 2, 4, 5, 8, and 9 are indicators of a “more hierarchical mindset” while statements 1, 3, 6, 7, and 10 are indicator of a “less hierarchical mindset”. You calculate the facilitator scores. To calculate the facilitator scores you add up the facilitator scores on statements 2, 4, 5, 8, and 9. You then change the scores on statements 1, 3, 6, 7, and 10 in the follow way: the scores are inversed. So, the score “1” becomes “5”, “2” becomes “4”, “3” becomes “3”, “4” becomes “2” and the score “5” becomes “1”. The inversed scores are added up. Finally the total scores on statements 2, 4, 5, 8, and 9 and the total inversed scored on statements 1, 3, 6, 7, and 10 are added up. The new total score equals the facilitator score. This calculation needs to be done for the questionnaire results before and after the chat sessions. You need to gather the filled out facilitator questionnaires before the first chat session and again after the last chat session. You need to create a table of the scores of the individual anonymized facilitator questionnaire scores before and after and of the cumulative facilitator’s scores. You will need to include the table into your evaluation document. The table could look like this: FACILITATOR QUESTIONNAIRE SCORES SCORE BEFORE SCORE AFTER SCORE DIFFERENCE (“SCORE BEFORE” MINUS “SCORE AFTER”) FACILITATOR 1 FACILITATOR 2 CUMULATIVE SCORE
