2. 2.

Pakistan is blessed with abundance of renewable energy potential but so far this potential has not been harnessed except for large hydro electric projects.

The Ministry of Water and Power has now prepared the first ever Renewable Energy Policy of Pakistan, which envisages mainstreaming of renewable energy in the development plans of the country.

Pakistan’s energy’s needs are potentially huge. We are confronting serious imminent energy shortages as its economy and population grow while global fossil fuel prices continue their upwards spiral.

Thus, Pakistan needs to initiate a sustained, long-term transition towards greater use of renewable energy - an indigenous, clean, and abundant resource whose considerable potential the country has yet to tap meaningfully.

    3. 3.

Commercial farming of Jatropha Curcas – a plant, which gives off seeds which can be used for Bio Diesel.

We will be planting this plant and selling the seeds of the same to the Oil Marketing Companies as one seed of this plant contains 37% of Bio Diesel.

    4. 4.

To Produce and Sell, Jatropha seeds

Lease 100 acres of land

Cultivate 135,000 saplings ( 1 acre – 1350 plants)

Employ, Agriculturist and Six Hari

Arrange for Tubewell, Farm fixtures and Irrigation System

    5. 5.

World stands polarized with proponents of fossil fuels.

Bio fuel industry is a rotate off from the radical reassessment of traditional energy sources

We are all in the same race to sustain the future and same is an obvious reason for the Global War and Peace.

Pakistan imports around 9 million tons of diesel and Furnace Oil.

We stand 35 th in the world, for contributing 0.43% of green house gases.

    6. 6.

Reclaims Marginal Soils

Grow well under Saline Conditions

Is drought tolerant

Low nutrient requirement

Is an Energy crop

Seed with high oil content

High Oil yield

Oil of High Quality

Bio-diesel is environment friendly

Low Labor Input

Does not compete with food crop

Pest and Disease resistant

Arrests Desertification

Stimulates Rural Economy ( 1 Job per 2 Hectare)

Seed Cake can be briquetted for use as fuel

Has higher Cetane value (51) against Diesel (48)

    7. 7.

Jatropha is drought, frost and pest resistant

Grows in sandy, saline, barren or infertile soil and is non edible (avoids food crisis).

It grows up to 6-10 feet and is easy to propagate as it grows quickly and establishes itself and naturally repels both animals and insects. Age: 50 yrs

Yields about 1000 barrels of oil per year per square mile. The yield per crop increases every year and can reach up to 8 – 10kgs.

The oil content in a seed is about 37 % and the remainder results in useful byproducts such as glycerin and fertilizers.

Seed cake of jatropha is an organic fertilizer or can be briquetted for use as fuel. Creates rural employment (1 job per 2 hectare).

Safeguards the land from eroding, combats with desertification and landslides and is capable of stabilizing sand dunes.

    8. 8.

Low cost of land because the land used is marginal and/or un-productive (Saline)

High returns

Low variable cost because the plant is drought resistant and can even survive on water with high TDS; Fertilizers are also not necessary

Government Support

Renewable energy provides jobs, whereas other sources capture technology

Expanding Market

First Mover Advantage

    9. 9.

Ministry of Water and Power, prepared the first ever “Renewable Energy policy of Pakistan” which envisages mainstreaming of renewable energy in the development plans of the country.

ECC approved “Policy Recommendations for use of Bio Diesel, as an alternative Fuel.

    10. 10.

Renewability

Opportunity for a cleaner environment

    11. 11.

Depleting and Rising oil prices are going to allow the shift to alternative fuels

Government of Pakistan’s ordinance to enforce B20 by 2011

PSO locally and Shell Globally are looking for cleaner energy sources.

    12. 13.

Globally, Governments have budgeted $500 billion for “Green New Deals”

Asia accounts more than three fifths of the total.

China has dedicated $220 billion to help the country achieve its target of renewable energy

    13. 16.

Jatropha is still being developed in Pakistan

PSO has a model Farm to create awareness

Out of other Vegetable oils, Jatropha has the lowest gas emissions

    14. 17.

A: POSITIONING :

To position our jatropha seeds we make way in to the Pakistani oil stream like PSO, shell and all other petroleum sectors. We would seek the commitment of opinion leaders. Opinion leaders are change agent and active media users. However, since we will specialize in the production and farming of jatropha- to generate raw materials required for Bio-fuel, we will not experience the need to market our product.

B: DISTRIBUTION:

As per B2B business we will directly distribute the jatropha seeds to our targeted businesses, and the oil manufacturing concerns that create the demand for jatropha seeds will be our sole buyers.

C: PRICING:

We have set cost per sapling at Rs / 15.

    15. 18.

FORM OF OWNERSHIP:

Partnership Arif with 40 % and rest four with 15% each.

    16. 19.

If the jatropha seeds are less demanded by the OMC sectors than we will utilize our land in some other agriculture products

Can do cattle farming as well with this piece of land.

Jatropha seeds can be exported.

The sustainability of the project will be reinforced by the fact that the extracts from the same seed can be used for electricity generation in the near future.

Diesel generators and power plants can run on bio diesel to produce clean and economical electricity of the rural areas of Pakistan.

    17. 20.

THANK YOU
