Under the sea

  1. 1. Made by Ramisha and Shahzeb
  2. 2. Did you think that volcanoes could only be on land? No you were mistaken there are more than five thousand volcanoes underwater that are of various sizes. It is not necessary for these volcanoesto be under deep water, these can alsoexist under shallow water and whenthese shallow water volcanoes erupt, they throw the magma on thesurrounding land area as well.
  3. 3. The coral reefs are found in shallow, warm water only, where the temperature of water is mostly constantthroughout the year. Have you ever wondered whatexactly are these reefs made up of? These are made upof as many as thousands of corals, and when this coraldies, it leaves behind the calcium carbonate skeleton.Further, the cycle starts again when the young onesattach themselves to the old skeleton. And so on, everygeneration builds up themselves on the prior generation.Coral reefs start at a length of a few centimeters andgo on to attain an unimaginable size - the GreatBarrier Reef in the Pacific Ocean being one of thebest example of the same. Coral reefs are consideredlargest living structures on the planet.
  4. 4. Sharks have been the most feared and wild marine creatures. These animals have been prowling in the oceans for around 400 million years and have evolved into 440 different species. Sharks are known to live for many years.Sharks have excellent eyesight and cansee objects moving even in dim light.Strong smell and touch senses makethem amazing and smart predators. Withthe gift of such wonderful sensoryabilities, their prey animals can hardlyescape these deep water beasts
  5. 5. Seahorse, the unique fish species belongs to the genus Hippocampus wherein hippos stand for horse and campus for sea monster. More than 30 species of the fish have been identified by the scientists. The lower part of the body of aseahorse is composed of a curlytail which is used for variouspurposes and the upper torsolooks like a horse. Their tailresembles tail of a monkey.
  6. 6. There are about 32 types of dolphins and all areunique in their color and body constitution.Looking at them together will really fascinateanyone! While these 32 types thrive in saltwater, there are five other types of dolphins wholive in the freshwater. Bottle nose dolphin, theKiller Whale, the Common dolphin, the Blackdolphin and Dusky dolphin are some of the typesof dolphins.an adult dolphin eats nearly 20 to 22kilos of fish every day!! The eatinghabits of dolphins are dependent on thearea where they thrive and the seasonof the year. Seasons in which fish likemullet, mackerel, herring, cod arefound abundantly, the dolphins have aparty time!
