This is a comparison between independent films and mainstream films. I have compared the films 'Love Actually' (Mainstream) and 'Submarine' (Independent).
5. Submarine Love Actually
How well known are the production companies?
For Submarine most of the
production companies are not
very well known. The only one I
was familiar with was Film Four
Productions, who are an English
company and aren’t very well
known around the rest of the
world.
Love Actually has a couple of
very well known production
company's including one of the
big six ‘Universal Studio’s’.
Studio Canal are also a very well
known company. I can see
where the outrageous budget for
this film comes from.
6. Submarine Love Actually
One of the main differences between these two films are the amount of stars in
each of them. Love Actually has world class, star actors such as Liam Neesan,
Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Kira Knightley, Emma Thomson and unbelievably,
many more. Another difference between these films is that ‘Submarine’ has one
story throughout the whole film, however ‘Love Actually’ has at least five love
story's which run along side each other throughout the film.
Differences
7. Submarine Love Actually
There are several Similarities between these films. They are
both set in England during modern day. Both of the films are
based on books. The films are both of the same Genre’s. It is
interesting as the films should be similar but are completely
different all together.

Which institution do you feel outperforms the other and could claim to be more successful?
Universal Studios could claim it is the most successful out of all the films
company's that produced both of these films because it has the widest range
of films. Universal has produced films that appeal to all groups of people,
they have also made classics which even appeal to children today even
though the films are 20-30 years old. E.T. and Jurassic park are examples of
this. Universal also has theme parks all over the world and are arguably the
best theme parks there are with film themed rides and worlds. Universal
Studios were founded in 1912 just over one hundred years ago and are proud
to call themselves one of the big six.
