Platform Track bed CSJV are scheduled to continue the enabling works with a consented extension to working hours on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November. From Monday 30 November the site will be operational on a 24 hour basis. The construction of the ventilation shaft will be completed using the slip form method. Slip forming is a construction method in which concrete is poured into a continuously moving form. The vertical concrete form will be surrounded by 3 working platforms from which workers fix the reinforcement, pour concrete and install all the cast in items. Together, the concrete form and working platforms are raised by means of hydraulic jacks. The jacks climb on smooth rods or structural tubing embedded in the hardened concrete. Reinforcement is fixed just ahead of the form, which is then filled in layers with concrete. A mobile self erecting crane will be operational during the slip form construction works located on Gilbert Street. Concrete will be delivered via Davies Street and will be parked on Weighhouse Street. From Monday 30th November we are consented by Westminster City Council to work 24 hours a day for a 12 day period to complete the ventilation shaft. Ventilation Shaft Ventilation Shaft Grout Shafts Both grout shafts located on South Molton Lane and Davies Mews have now been decommissioned. South Molton Lane will remain as pedestrian access only until further notice. Davies Mews is open to both motorists and pedestrians.
