9. Prewriting is the idea
gathering phase of writing.
It can occur before you
start writing, or whenever
you find yourself getting
stuck after you start.
16. The first draft is the
first version of your
writing. This is where
you focus more on just
getting your thoughts
down and less on
spelling, grammar, and
mechanics. You’ll fix
those later, as needed.
17. Remember to keep first
things first. Just get the
ideas down and fix them
later.
19. Revision is when you look at
your paper again. In this
stage of the writing
process you are looking to
improve the content of
your paper, not just
correct errors.
21. You can revise a paper in
several ways.
Add more details and/or
information
Delete unnecessary details
and/or information
Move parts of your writing
around
22. We’ll be talking a lot more
about revision the rest of
the term. It is the heart
of good writing.
