BreakfastA proper English breakfast consists of egg,bacon, sausages, fried bread, mushrooms andbaked beans (very greasy and unhealthy).However, most people usually eat cereal,porridge or toast for breakfast most mornings.Bacon sandwiches and sausage sandwiches arealso very popular. People love a good cup of teaon a morning too!
  3. 3. Black PuddingBlack pudding looks like a black sausage.It is made from dried pigs blood and fatand is usually eaten at breakfast timewith an English breakfast. Fancy it?
  4. 4. Sunday DinnerOn a Sunday, most families eat a Sunday dinner of roastbeef and Yorkshire puddings with lots of differentvegetables. Yorkshire puddings Yorkshire puddings are not a dessert. Yorkshire puddings, made from flour, eggs and milk, are a sort of batter baked in the oven. Gravy is poured on top. Yummy!
  5. 5. Fish and ChipsFish and chips is Englands traditional take-awayfood. It consists of fish (cod, haddock and plaice)deep fried in flour batter with chips (friedpotatoes) dressed in vinegar and salt. They arebought at a fish and chip shop ("chippie" ) andthere is always one near by, especially if you areby the seaside.
  6. 6. Bangers and MashBangers are sausages in England. The reasonthey were nicknamed bangers is that duringwartime rationing they were so filled with waterthey often exploded when they were fried.Mash is potatoes with butter. Gravy is pouredover the top.
  7. 7. Bubble and SqueakThis is typically made from cold vegetables that havebeen left over from our previous meals, often theSunday roast. The chief ingredients are potato andcabbage, but we add carrots, peas, brussel sprouts, andother vegetables. The cold chopped vegetables are friedin a pan together with mashed potato until the mixtureis well-cooked and brown on the sides. The name is adescription of the action and sound made during thecooking process.
  8. 8. PiesShepherds PieThis is made with minced lamb andvegetables and topped with mashedpotatoCottage PieThis is made with minced beef andvegetables and topped with mashedpotato.

  10. 10. Apple Pie and Apple CrumbleBoth these desserts are served with thick cream, ice cream or custard. Apple pie Apple crumble
  11. 11. TrifleThis is made with layers of sponge cake, custard,fruit and whipped cream. Sometimes alcohol-soaked sponge cake is used.

  13. 13. Jamie Oliver Jamie Oliver is probably the most famous chef in Britain. He’sfamous for his cooking shows on British TV, but he is most famousfor improving school dinners in British schools. Jamie wasn’t happywith what the children were eating for their lunch. He thought the food needed to be healthier and fresh. He went into school and taught cooks how to make healthy, tasty school dinners cheaply.
