In this subscription we consider professional autonomy, rights and commitments of a teacher, which
are derived from UNESCO recommendations, about the status of teachers in 1966. In these
recommendations are described he guidelines of teacher’s submission as the fundamentally
submission in development of education and therefore elementary contribute to the development of
people and contemporary society. There are more theoretical determinings of concept autonomy and
as well the manners of understanding how to realize the autonomy in the practice. Decentralized and
developmentally oriented school systems encouraging the autonomy of a school. The autonomy of
teachers we cannot judge just regarding their work in a classroom but also through influence on the
changes in the school system and school politics. A level of teacher’s autonomy does not depend only
on which attributes of profession the work of a teachers have, but as well on the professional
knowledge or if their professional knowledge could increase the teacher’s ability of independent and
critical deciding.
