1. 1. The word of God
    2. 2. The word of God?

In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God….. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. (John 1:1,14)

We’ve not come to talk about some ink and paper, we’ve come to talk about Jesus

He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God. (Rev 19:13)

    3. 3. The word of God

We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. (1 John 1:1).

You cannot know the word of God if you don’t know Jesus, because He is the Word.

The bible is nothing but Christ revealed to us. And if you know Christ, you know God the father through the Spirit.

    4. 4. Power of the Word

…. for you have magnified your word above all your name. (Ps 138:2).

God has exalted Christ above all things

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. (Phil 2:9-10)

    5. 5. Power of the Word

For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. (1 Cor 15:27)

There is power in the Word. Everything is subject to the word of God.

The same power of the Word of God is given to us.

    6. 6. Power of the Word

Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.“ (Acts 3:6)

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (John 14:13)

Did you know that the Holy Spirit cannot work, unless the Word has first done it’s work?

    7. 7. Power of His Word

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said , "Let there be light," and there was light. (Gen 1:2-3)

Look in the scroll of the LORD and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate. For it is his mouth that has given the order, and his Spirit will gather them together. (Isaiah 34:16)

    8. 8. Word established

Forever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven. (Psalm 119:89)

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. (Mathew 5:18)

    9. 9. History

Adam and Eve were made perfect and had no need of the bible as we know it.

Just like angels, they beheld the fullness of God, and the Word was written in them.

When man sinned, he was cut off from God.

You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and can not look on iniquity (habakkuk 1:13)

    10. 10. History

Instead of God having control, we had control of our hearts instead. And guess what our hearts by nature longs for?

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jer 17:9)

I know, LORD, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course. (Jer 10:23)

    11. 11. History

God began to inspire his prophets through the Holy Spirit so we will come to realize the fullness of Him.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God , and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim 3:16)

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21)

    12. 12. History

Scripture were copied carefully from generation to generation (dead sea scrolls).

Old testament mostly in hebrew, new testament mostly in greek and aramaic.

From these original scripts the bible is translated into different languages.

    13. 13. New testament

Christ came that we would not just read the Word, but that we might know the Word.

"This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Jer 31:33)

    14. 14. Word; an arsenal

… . and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (eph 6:17)

And I have put my words in your mouth, and I have covered you in the shadow of my hand, that I may establish the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth….(isaiah 51:16)

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.(Psalm 119:11)

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. (John 15:7)

    15. 15. In conclusion

The first thing the devil attacked in the first and 2 nd Adam was the word of God

Remember, we have to be doers of God’s word, not hearers only.

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)
