  1. 1. INTRAMURAL SPORTS Flag Football Manager’s Meeting
  2. 2. <ul><li>General Rules </li></ul><ul><li>All games are played at the Cabot Track & Cage </li></ul><ul><li>This is a 5v5 league </li></ul><ul><ul><li>A team can play with a minimum of 4 players to avoid a forfeit </li></ul></ul><ul><li>No players may have pockets! </li></ul><ul><li>Players with pockets on their pants or shorts will not be allowed to play! </li></ul><ul><li>No players may have pockets! </li></ul><ul><li>Each game will consist of two 20 minute half's </li></ul><ul><li>Mercy Rule: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>If a team is up by 30 points in the second half the game will stop immediately. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>If a team is up by 19 points with less than 2 minutes in the game the game will stop immediately. </li></ul></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING
  3. 3. <ul><li>Required Player Equipment </li></ul><ul><li>All players must be dressed appropriately </li></ul><ul><li>Athletic shorts and sweatpants are allowed, but there must be no pockets of any kind. </li></ul><ul><li>Pockets with zippers will not be allowed. </li></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING

  5. 5. <ul><li>General Play </li></ul><ul><li>Each team will have three downs to reach the 40 yard line, then three more to reach the end zone. The captain will have the option to punt on third downs. </li></ul><ul><li>If a captain chooses to “punt”, the ball will be placed on the 20 yard line, and possession will change to the other team. </li></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING
  6. 6. <ul><li>General Play </li></ul><ul><li>Following a touchdown, the captain is given three options for the Point After Attempt (PAT). The offense will then have one chance to score on the PAT. </li></ul><ul><li>1 - The ball is placed three yards outside of the end zone </li></ul><ul><li>2 - The ball is placed on the 20 yard line </li></ul><ul><li>3 - The ball is placed on the 40 yard line </li></ul><ul><li>3 points are rewarded to the defense if they intercept the PAT and return it to the end zone. </li></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING
  7. 7. <ul><li>General Play </li></ul><ul><li>Each game consists of two 20 minute half's. </li></ul><ul><li>The clock will run continuously in the first half, and will only stop when a timeout is called. </li></ul><ul><li>During the second half the clock will stop at 1:00. After the “one minute warning” the clock will stop on all out of bounds, incomplete passes, touchdowns, changes of possession, first downs, and penalties. </li></ul><ul><li>Each team is given 2 timeouts per half. Any player may call a timeout. </li></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING
  8. 8. <ul><li>Penalties </li></ul><ul><li>This is a non contact league. Contact of any kind will not be tolerated. </li></ul><ul><li>Flag Guarding – While a offensive player is running with the ball they cannot make any motion whatsoever to prevent the defender from reaching their flags. This includes using the hand or the ball to “swat” the defenders hand away. Even if contact is avoided, the actual motion of blocking your flags can result in a penalty. </li></ul><ul><li>Diving for flags – Defenders are not allowed to dive for the flag belts of an offensive player. This is determined at the officials discretion. </li></ul><ul><li>Diving for yards – Offensive players are not allowed to dive for yards. This is also determined at the officials discretion. </li></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING
  9. 9. <ul><li>Penalty Enforcement </li></ul><ul><li>All calls made by the officials are final. </li></ul><ul><li>The captain is given the option to accept or decline any penalty except for dead ball fouls. </li></ul><ul><li>A dead ball foul is any penalty before the snap or after the play has been blown dead. These fouls will be followed immediately by a whistle to stop play. </li></ul><ul><li>If penalties are issued to both teams on the same play they will offset, and the down will be replayed. </li></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING
  10. 10. <ul><li>Unsportsmanlike Penalties </li></ul><ul><li>If a player receives 2 U.C’s during a game they will be ejected. </li></ul><ul><li>If a team accumulates 3 U.C’s during a game, that team will immediately </li></ul><ul><li>forfeit regardless of the score. </li></ul><ul><li>The following actions will result in a U.C: </li></ul><ul><li>- Any excessive contact deemed unnecessary by the officials. </li></ul><ul><li>Players who speak to the officials in a disrespectful or unprofessional </li></ul><ul><li>manner. Captains are the only ones allowed to speak to the officials. </li></ul><ul><li>Taunting or elaborate celebrations. If the entire team is involved the U.C </li></ul><ul><li>will be given to the captain. </li></ul><ul><li>- Spiking the ball </li></ul>MANAGER'S MEETING
