Jesus: A Hero's Journey?
The answer of Jesus to that bad guy still moves my heart. He could have mentioned all the
problems and sins that man had committed before being there, hanged over on that rude cross. He
could have explained about the Ten Commandments, showing how far he walked from the living
God. He could have done all of these things and he would not be wrong, he would be just telling the
truth. However, God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us. Romans 5:8. Jesus was dying for people like that man. A terrible Sinner.
The answer of Jesus brought about hope not only for that man, but also for all generation to come.
At the moment that man confessed his sins, saying, "we are punished justly, for we are getting what
our deeds deserve", and recognized Jesus as the lamb of God without sin, saying, "but this man has
done nothing wrong", followed by the recognition of his everlasting reign, when he said "when you

The question is, if he had survived, would he continue living the same life of the past? Would he not
be changed after a so real and strong encounter with Jesus?
The answer for this question is this book's purpose.
Jesus called sinners, not to keep being sinners, but to be sons of God. The exigencies of Jesus are
clear throughout the Bible. The act of continuously believing and constantly wishing to change will
bring us to Him. As Dr. M. E. Dodd said, "The conversion represents only five percent of Christian
life. The ninety–five percent is in the dependence of a life with Christ." I am not saying that we
alone can be transformed, but the willingness to be transformed comes from us. We need to
cooperate with God in this process. It endures only for a while.
If we really believe, keep doing what he wants us to do, we will certainly hear the same affirmation
that poor, but now so blessed man heard. "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in

Jesus As the Son of God Essay
Jesus As the Son of God
When Jesus rose from the dead the disciples realized that they needed new ways of describing him
to reflect his amazing power and holiness. They scoured the Hebrew and Jewish scriptures
looking for something appropriate to call him by and came up with titles such as "Messiah", "Son
of Man", "Son of David" and "Son of God". In the end Son of God became the most popular of
these titles so that is what he became best known as. It is therefore the subject of my coursework.
What Does It Mean When Christians Talk AboutJesus As Son of God
In the Old Testament, the words "Son of God" often meant someone who had a special relationship
with God. However, Mark was also much...show more content...
Mark certainly brings together the ideas of God the Father, Jesus the Son of God and the Holy Spirit
in the story of Jesus' Baptism.
Son of God can be interpreted in three different ways. It can mean the king; in many ancient
Mediterranean societies, kings were thought to be descended from Gods E.g. Pharaohs, Romulus
and Remus and Greek heroes. Secondly all Jews were Sons of God because they are "beloved of
God". Finally it can literally mean God's son which means that only Jesus is the Son of God.
Fundamentalists literally believe Jesus is the Son of God and therefore he is God, the second person
in the Trinity. They have a literal interpretation of everything Jesus said in the bible, therefore it
affects the way they live their lives. If they believe Jesus is God they will pray to him as God and
worship him as God. Fundamentalists believe that Jesus' teaching is always right and
non–negotiable because Jesus' word is God's word and God is never wrong. On divorce for
instance Jesus says: "No human being must separate what God has joined together" (Mark 10:9)
The vast majority of people nowadays believe that divorce is acceptable if the couple are unhappy.
Fundamentalists, however, believe that divorce is never acceptable under any circumstances
because Jesus said so and he is always right.
Liberals believe that Jesus is the Son of God by adoption and

Who Was Jesus: Radical Or Radical?
While Jesus was on earth, many people would say that He lived as a radical because he didn't live
for the approval of other. He always did what right according to God no matter how it made the
people who didn't believe in him feel. This means that Jesus always had an extreme amount of
courage to seek out the root of an important issue. The times that I have that type of courage is
whenever I see people that I know doing something that I know is wrong and could be hurtful to
someone else, I speak up to tell them the truth about their actions.

Answer the following questions:
a. What was Jesus' point in the teaching?
In Matthew 5:43–48, Jesus is teaching that one should love their enemies. In order to love an

After reading each of the selected scriptures, they all have one thing in common, Jesus, the Son of
God, has all the power, strength, wisdom, love, and knowledge as God. Jesus mentions in several
of these passages his abilities are the same as God and it is through the Father that He is able to do
the things that He does. Knowing Jesus, was the same as knowing the Father. Jesus is the most
complete countenance of God in history.
3. How would you personally answer Jesus' question, "But who do you say that I am?" Describe
your own beliefs about Jesus.
Jesus, the Son of God! Jesus did what only God can do. Jesus is a perfect leader, healer, and man
of His word. My beliefs are very traditional. Being raised in a Christian home, the teaching of the
birth, life, and resurrection of Jesus were taught. At a young age, accepting Christ as my personal
savior was a choice that I made as I understood that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to take away
my sins so that I could have eternal life. There was so much that I never knew about Christ at a
young age that I have begun to see as an adult. I know that if we have faith and we believe in the
Word of God, that things will come to pass. Through many adversities, I have learned to keep my
faith in the Lord and His mercy and grace always prevail. I have learned the patience that God has
bestowed upon me and I know that everything that is to happen in out lived all happen on Gods
time. We cannot change what

The Divinity and Humanity of Jesus Essay
"Who do people say that I am?" (Mark 8:27) is one of the most fundamental questions that Jesus
asked his disciples. It is a question, from my personal viewpoint, that has a simple answer. Jesus is
Lord! Needless to say, there is more to the identity of Jesus, but it is my belief that Jesus is the
Messiah, the second person of the Holy Trinity. He is the promised Savior foretold in the Old
Testament by the prophets. There is an endless list that givesJesus titles such as Ruler and King,
Master and Teacher, Savior and Christ, but in Acts 2:36 Luke writes, "God has made him both Lord
and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified." Jesus is the one who went to the Cross to bring
humankind forgiveness, redemption, and salvation. Over the...show more content...
Another personal favorite scripture is also written in the gospel of John, "For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have
eternal life (3:16). John is emphasizing the relationship between Father [God] and Son [Jesus].
He is saying that the Son has come from the Father and in order to see the Father one must first
believe in the Son (125). Divinity is the very character of God. Therefore, Jesus' divinity is made
known repeatedly throughout the New Testament. In the very first words of the Gospel of Mark
1:1, Mark writes "The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God." It establishes
him as the manifestation of God in human form. Then later in Mark 1:14, scripture says that the
time had come for worldwide repentance because the "Kingdom of God" was coming soon. Jesus
is not who they imagined; the people of Israel were expecting a king who would establish an
earthly kingdom and rescue them from the oppression of the Roman Empire. The Jewish community
did not understand nor did it resonate that God's deliverance would be for all people (108–109).
With the proclamation of the Kingdom of God, Jesus seeks to bring about God's plan for humanity
through physical, spiritual, and social healing. His purpose and mission is to prepare the hearts and
minds of the people so they can build new lives in God's kingdom. Jesus often uses stories to
illustrate his message

Summary Of ' The Life Of Jesus '
Introduction: Intro to Christianity
The life of Jesus depicts that of a fable that almost seems impossible to believe or too good to be
true. It a gift worth receiving, a far greater gift that can be or ever will be offered. Abundant life, a
word constantly mentioned as the result of having faith in Jesus. The fact that a righteous died on
the cross for the atonement of sins for the unrighteous seems illogical. In fact, many things Jesus
spoke about was illogical; it went contrary to human rational. It questioned many traditional laws
that the Jewish people abided by for over 400 years. Pharisees hated Jesus and held bitterness in
their hearts. They were blinded by their pride and knowledge. Jesus attracted the public with his
message of forgiveness and grace. Jesus was a God of second chances. "For the law was given
through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." Why would an omnipotent God show
unconditional love for a sinful and darkness–loving humanity? Who was Jesus? To be able to explain
this, I will briefly run through the movie in hope to pictorially get my analysis through and insight
on the life and teaching of the messiah.
Film Analysis of the film
Jesus's explicit declaration as deity
The movie starts with the first verse of the book of John, "in the beginning was the word, the word
was with God and the word was God." A famous verse that supports Jesus's status as son of God,
verse 14 says this, "the word became flesh and made his dwelling among

Jesus Identity Essay
Jesus was affirmed in His relationship with the Father and therefore His identity as the Father's
Son enabled Him to conform His life to one that was pleasing to God. Jesus knew His identity was
tied to God, despite the Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes claiming that He was a blasphemer and a
worker of Satan, Jesus proclaimed that, "I and the Father are one." When those in authority failed
to see His value He stayed true to who the Father said He was and didn't doubt for one moment who
He was called to be. He lived His life in accordance to the Father's plans and because of that He lived
in constant state of pleasing God, one example of this is when John the Baptist questioned Jesus need
to be baptized by him and Jesus demanded that they did...show more content...

the righteousness of God, an exhausting schedule was something that Jesus was accustomed to
as He traveled throughout the land and did His Father's business everywhere He went, "And he
went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the
kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people." Yet, in the mist of all
the demands that faced Him, He made sure He took care of Himself by stealing away from His
disciples and the crowd in solitary prayer, "And rising very early in the morning, while it was still
dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed." He demonstrated the
importance of self care in terms of making time, no matter how early, to spend with

Who Is Jesus Christ? Essay
The name Jesus Christ spawns multiple feelings throughout cultures. Jesus Christ is also a name that
has impacted everyone in a monumental way and is impacting all aspects of society. No matter how
you feel about Jesus Christ, it is insurmountable to deny the fact that he is not an impactful figure in
the world we live in today. The question that is frequently asked about this ponderous figure is "who
is Jesus". This question does not hold only one individual answer, but withholds multiple answers.
Depending on the culture, country, time, place, and especially who you ask, you will receive
answers that all hold uniqueness. In less of an opinionated stance, the Holy Bible holds the answer to
who exactly he is and why is such a conspicuous figure. To understand Jesus Christ and formulate an
opinion on him, we must interpret the Holy Bible and construe his impact in not only today's
society, but history. There is no denying that the upbringing of a religious figure has caused
mountainous affects in history; both positively and negatively. The destruction and saving of man
has inevitably been a result of multiple religions throughout the world. Whether you fathom a
mindset of acceptance or denial, Jesus Christ is one of the world's most notable figures.
Although previously noted, the importance of understanding Jesus Christ is essential. So in a
historical context, who is Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is considered the son of God and the messiah
who sacrificed his own life in

The Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ Essay
The Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ
When we talk about Jesus as a leader, we may imply two different forms: Jesus as the only Son of
God, God of the universe, or the risen Christ as being one with God; or Jesus as the 1 st century
flesh and blood human being, the historical figure. Since the purpose of studying leadership is to
improve one's own leadership skills, it makes sense to analyze Jesus' applicable traits, actions, and
accomplishments as a good leader–in his historical role–so his leadership skills can be feasibly
related to ourselves as human beings. I will attempt to analyze, using modern leadership criteria,
how Jesus of Nazareth, the Jew and carpenter's son, was an effective spiritual leader of his time.
Let us first...show more content...
Jesus gave a frank opinion about his purpose when he said, "Do not think that I have come to
abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" (Matt. 5:17).
Cronin adds, "Leaders are people who know who they are and know where they are going. . . .
[They] must be self–reliant individuals with great tenacity and stamina" (36). So aside from the
common interpretations that Jesus was the Son of God or the Messiah (sent to earth to be king
and deliverer of the Jews), Jesus was an intelligent man, who usually knew what to say and when to
say it. N.T. Wright writes, "Jesus spoke of himself as a prophet, he behaved as a prophet, and when
others referred to him in this way he did not correct them" (33).
Before we can explain how Jesus articulated his vision, we must first examine what his vision was.
Wright writes, "Jesus was a first–century Jewish prophet announcing God's kingdom. This was the
very center of his mission and message" (33). Most likely, Jesus would say his goal was to do God's
will in order to fulfill the prophecies (as predicted in the Old Testament) and save the "lost" (Matt.
18:11, Luke 19:10). Since he was sent to earth as a means for people to get to heaven, his vision was
that people could develop

Crucifixion of Jesus Christ Essay
In this report we will deal with Crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. This report we'll have as bible
text the gospel of Matthew 27:32–50, and these verses will be analyzed verse by verse. It's very great
to observe that all gospels talk about Jesus' Crucifixion in a larger section than others events from
his life. There is a great reason: for Jesus this last part of his work means the finishing God's plan of
salvation. Paul says he humbled himself, and become obedient unto death, even the death of the
Cross (Philippians 2:8). So we will observe the following of event as Matthew wrote in his gospel.
27:32–34: 32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cy–re'na, Simon by name: him they
compelled to bear his cross, 33 They were come unto...show more content...

undiluted bitterness". 27:35–38: 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots:
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them
and upon my vesture did they cost lots. 36 And sitting down they watched him there. 37 And set
up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Then
were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. Jesus was
crucified, his hands and foot were mailed to the cross, and then reared it up and him hanging on it;
because that was the manner of Romans to crucify. Henry Matthew writes in his commentary next
thing: "The barbarous and abusive treatment they gone him, in which their wit and malice vied
which should excel. As if death, so great a death were not bad enough, they contrived to add to the
bitterness and terror of it." The sufferings of Jesus intensified as he drew near to the cross. In Matt.

The Historical Existence Of Jesus Essay
Introduction
Some scholars argue that evidence of Jesus of Nazareth 's existence can only be found within the
writings of the New Testament. They believe that the New Testament is a biased and unreliable
source for the existence of Jesus. They therefore claim that Jesus did not exist. The historical
existence of Jesus is necessary to demonstrate the truth of Christianity. While Christian scholars do
not discount the reliability of the New Testament as a historical document, they are also able to point
to other historical documents and consider non–Christian writings which support the existence of
Jesus. In this paper I will argue that Jesus the Nazarene was an actual, historical person and that this
can be demonstrated through extra–Biblical resources.
Tacitus
Tacitus, perhaps the greatest Roman historian, provides us with an account of the fire of Rome.1 It
is within this account, recorded in The Annals, that Tacitus mentions Jesus. In chapters 38 through
45 of Annals 15, Tacitus discusses how Nero implicated Christians as those responsible for the fire.
But neither human resourcefulness nor the emperor's largesse nor appeasement of the gods could
stop belief in the nasty rumor that an order had been given for the fire. To dispel the gossip Nero
therefore found culprits on whom he inflicted the most exotic punishments. These were people hated
for their shameful offences whom the common people called Christians. The man who gave them
their name, Christus, had been executed

The Trial of Jesus Essay
In The Judaeo–Christian Tradition by Jack H. Hexter, the trial of Jesus is addressed in an
unorthodox perspective. The trial of Jesus incorporates two trials: the Roman trial and the Jewish
trial. In Hexter's book the Roman trial is addressed in great length while the Jewish trial is almost
unaddressed. Hexter provides a perspective of the trial of Jesus with only one cause: the charge of
sedition, for claiming to be king of the Jews. By using the four gospel texts, Hexter's view is
illuminated and we find crucial aspects to the trial that not only counter Hexter's view on the sedition
charge but also provide evidence for other important charges. Themes other than the charge of
sedition supporting Hexter's perspective include, the...show more content...
Hexter blames Pilate for being the sole decision–maker for the death of Jesus, but once again, the
Four Gospel texts allude the Jewish community for being a major influence upon the death of Jesus.
Hexter begins his thesis with one sentence stating that only Pilate gave the order of Jesus' death:
"...who in turn gave him to the procurator Pontius Pilate for trial." (Hexter 63) Hexter does not
address the Jewish community that is in upheaval during a time of Passover or Pilates role
throughout the trial. Pontius Pilate, as Roman Governor, had a position to fulfill to the Roman
population along with the Jewish community. During a time of Jewish Passover, along with the
chaos Jesus had created, Pilate was under great influence from many outside factors. "The stir
created by Jesus' preaching and the size of his following perturbed both the Roman and the Jewish
authorities, fearful of any wind that might fan the smoldering discontent in Palestine into a raging
flame of revolt." (Hexter 62) In the Roman trial, Pilate was chosen to judge Jesus on the act of
sedition, however counter to Hexter's perspective, repeatedly stated that he saw no case against him.
In the Gospel of John, it is apparent that Pilate not only doesn't want to be involved but is puzzled
at the situation at hand. "Your own nation and the chief of priests have handed you over to me;
what have you done?" (John 18:33) Pilate is attempting to keep order in his city and rather not

The Human Form Of Jesus Essay
With the knowledge that the human form was fit for Jesus, now the focus can shift to the evidence
that he was human and his human form was humanizing. Jesus lived a life on earth and suffered
like every other person does. As mentioned previously, Jesus experienced temptation by the Devil
as seen in Matthew 4. He experienced hunger as seen in Mark 11:12. He experienced weariness as
seen in John 4:6, "So Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well" (). He
experienced sorrow many times as seen when Lazarus died in John 11 and several other places.
He also experience pain and suffering on the cross and he died just as everyone on earth does as
well. By every standard Jesus was a human being. He lived and died as everyone else on this planet
does. His humanity was humanizing. He was a human being and demonstrated all the characteristics
of being one. The only difference is that he was able to live a life without sin. So Jesus' human
nature was in no way dehumanizing; he exhibited every characteristic that humans face and
conquered every struggle. Even though Christ lived a perfect life as a man, Christians cannot even
attempt to do the same. While on earth, Jesus fulfilled the law, meaning he never broke it, conquered
every temptation, and never succumbed to one sin. He outlined the perfect life of a Christian.
Romans three clearly states that every human is fallen and sinful, which shows that no matter what,
at the end of the day every person,

Jesus And The Personality Theory Essay
Jesus & The Personality Theory: Exploring the Five Factor Model was written by James Beck in
1999 and entails a biblical perspective of what the five dimensions looked like primarily through
the life of Jesus. Neuroticism, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness to Experience, and
Extraversion are all examined in the book as each section focuses on a brief introduction of a
particular personality trait and then keys in a couple of concepts that can arise from said trait.
The book gives practical, biblical, and historical examples of how these traits look in life, making
it an interesting read for those who are counselors or even preachers. From the beginning of the
book, Beck had two main goals to portray to his audience. 1. Jesus is a counseling model for
Christian counselors because his teachings speak directly to the five major components of human
personality. 2. These teachings are wonderful because they the composition of human personality.
Thus by someone reading this book, a person will have a better understand of how Jesus'
personality shaped the way he interacted with people as well as how he or she may use his
teachings to get a better understanding of their own personality. The book begins by stating that
everyone has distinct personalities and no two people alike. As one could examine the biblical
cases of Jacob and Esau or Ruth and Esther, he could see that God created every individually
uniquely, thus the five factors for every person will not be the same.

Who Was Jesus? Essay
Now–a–days it seems like religion has become somewhat of a taboo. It has fallen on the back
burners, pushed behind things such as famous actors that people look up to or things portrayed in
the media. The thing is, the most important figure in history is part of religion and should be revered
much more than the idolized actors of today. Thehuman population has become blind to spiritual
life and has become engulfed by a social lifestyle. If you look around, people have forgotten what it's
like to know Jesus and any aspect of religion. Religion is the biggest part of any person's life
because it is the building block for everything we have. Something that I want to bring up is the
story of the cave by Plato. Plato told a story about three...show more content...
To start off, I will say a very simple fact, Jesus is everything and everyone. Jesus is all that is
around us. When I say this I mean that Jesus is the reason we are where we are, He made
everything possible for us and we don't understand that. Jesus is a symbol of strength, Saving
grace, human weakness, hope, life, love, understanding, knowledge, wisdom and almost any
other intangible definition of humanity that we could think of. The reason I say this is because
Jesus of scripture was everything good in the world and also he highlighted humanity as we are.
Jesus in scripture is shown in every situation and can be applied to our world as a symbol. He is
in all that is good and also in any situation that is bad. I don't mean bad as in he is the creator of evil
because that would be a complete religious contradiction. I mean that Jesus is the hope in any bad
situation. He is what makes evil turn out good. Jesus makes anything bad become understandable
through all that He means. Next we must understand that Jesus was fully God and fully human. We
must have both parts in order to understand that he saved us and that he was one and the same with
God. McGrath says, "Although all people are children of God in some sense of the word, the New
Testament holds that Jesus is the son of God."(McGrath, 67) This shows us that Jesus is directly
connected to God and therefore he

Life Of Jesus Christ Essay
The life of Jesus Christ is a very emotional yet religious topic to explain about. His birth was
miraculous, the way he lived was very sin free and religious and his death changed people's lives
forever. The innocence and loyalty that Jesus portrayed was still not enough for the Roman Empire.
He was just too over powering for the government and other peoples lives and was considered a

The birth of Jesus was said to be on December 25 yet in the bible there was no set date on which he
was born. Jesus was born in Jerusalem 200 years ago to a young woman named Mary. Mary was a

The authorities had decided that something had to be done about this religious leader. Pilate, which

In order to keep up his reputation, Pilate had sentanced him to execution because he didn't want the

The word LORD, spelled with all captial letters is the name of God, Jehovah. For more information
about God's name go to the article titled "LORD, Hebrew Tetragrammaton." In prophecy, John the
baptist was to prepare the world to receive God Almighty. In reality, John prepared the world for
Jesus, preaching the message of repentance. John did not make a mistake, he knew that Jesus was
Jehovah God joining the human race.
Isaiah 45:23 –– Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear (Prophecy).

Jesus What Was His Mission
Who is Jesus? Jesus is the son of God and the Virgin Mary, the way to peace and happiness, not
only but also the one who saved us from evil and sins. The bible says that If we believe in him we
shall not perish but have everlasting life. In his short time on earth he turned water into wine,
healed, walked on water and more. He was sold by Judas to the Romans. He was whipped, stoned,
and nailed to the cross among with two robbers who would be crucified along with him. Jesus had
told everyone that he would rise again within 3 days which would have been on a Sunday, as we
know is called Easter. What was his mission? Jesus mission was basically to show and make
everyone believe in him. He wanted everyone to live in peace without sins. Him and

The Teaching of Jesus Essay
Will the teachings of Jesus Christ be able to survive the 3rd millennium? Jesus emphasized the
actions and teachings of God by using his life as an example of God's ways. He was an exact
representation of God which made him God as well. Jesus referred to the history of God in his
teachings. He used the basis of God's teachings that God demonstrated through Adam, Abraham and
David.
There were approximately 4000 years between the start of man up to the time of Christ's birth. Then
for the last 2000 years after Christ, the church has risen steadily. So, in total, that is 6000 years of
Jesus' teachings or the basis of his teachings, which have become more popular now then when they
first started out at the beginning 6000 years ago. So my...show more content...
Look at Mother Teresa as another example of someone who was inspired by the teachings of
Jesus. She has even gone so far as to impact the whole world and leave a lasting impression of the
love Jesus has for us through her actions. Secondly, as we enter into the next millennium, every
human is searching for love, acceptance, and security, which are, the three major needs of the
human soul. Now imagine for a second what it would be like if all the bad things that are predicted
about our future were to come true. Just imagine if all the computers really did crash or even if the
world really did end.
Well, we don't have to fear about these things because, like I said, we are all searching for love,
acceptance, and security and we can find all of these needs through Jesus and his teachings. Mark
3:34–35 is a great example of how accepting Jesus is. "Then he looked at those around him
and said, "these are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does God's will id my brother and
sister and mother." This is simply saying that Jesus accepts everybody as his family as long
as they believe in God. Jesus wants us all to feel secure.
Psalm 46:1–5 is an excellent verse showing why we can feel secure with the basis of Jesus'
teachings: "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we
will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into to sea. Let the oceans roar

Jesus Essay

  • 1. Jesus: A Hero's Journey? The answer of Jesus to that bad guy still moves my heart. He could have mentioned all the problems and sins that man had committed before being there, hanged over on that rude cross. He could have explained about the Ten Commandments, showing how far he walked from the living God. He could have done all of these things and he would not be wrong, he would be just telling the truth. However, God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8. Jesus was dying for people like that man. A terrible Sinner. The answer of Jesus brought about hope not only for that man, but also for all generation to come. At the moment that man confessed his sins, saying, "we are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve", and recognized Jesus as the lamb of God without sin, saying, "but this man has done nothing wrong", followed by the recognition of his everlasting reign, when he said "when you come...show more content... The question is, if he had survived, would he continue living the same life of the past? Would he not be changed after a so real and strong encounter with Jesus? The answer for this question is this book's purpose. Jesus called sinners, not to keep being sinners, but to be sons of God. The exigencies of Jesus are clear throughout the Bible. The act of continuously believing and constantly wishing to change will bring us to Him. As Dr. M. E. Dodd said, "The conversion represents only five percent of Christian life. The ninety–five percent is in the dependence of a life with Christ." I am not saying that we alone can be transformed, but the willingness to be transformed comes from us. We need to cooperate with God in this process. It endures only for a while. If we really believe, keep doing what he wants us to do, we will certainly hear the same affirmation that poor, but now so blessed man heard. "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Jesus As the Son of God Essay Jesus As the Son of God When Jesus rose from the dead the disciples realized that they needed new ways of describing him to reflect his amazing power and holiness. They scoured the Hebrew and Jewish scriptures looking for something appropriate to call him by and came up with titles such as "Messiah", "Son of Man", "Son of David" and "Son of God". In the end Son of God became the most popular of these titles so that is what he became best known as. It is therefore the subject of my coursework. What Does It Mean When Christians Talk AboutJesus As Son of God In the Old Testament, the words "Son of God" often meant someone who had a special relationship with God. However, Mark was also much...show more content... Mark certainly brings together the ideas of God the Father, Jesus the Son of God and the Holy Spirit in the story of Jesus' Baptism. Son of God can be interpreted in three different ways. It can mean the king; in many ancient Mediterranean societies, kings were thought to be descended from Gods E.g. Pharaohs, Romulus and Remus and Greek heroes. Secondly all Jews were Sons of God because they are "beloved of God". Finally it can literally mean God's son which means that only Jesus is the Son of God. Fundamentalists literally believe Jesus is the Son of God and therefore he is God, the second person in the Trinity. They have a literal interpretation of everything Jesus said in the bible, therefore it affects the way they live their lives. If they believe Jesus is God they will pray to him as God and worship him as God. Fundamentalists believe that Jesus' teaching is always right and non–negotiable because Jesus' word is God's word and God is never wrong. On divorce for instance Jesus says: "No human being must separate what God has joined together" (Mark 10:9) The vast majority of people nowadays believe that divorce is acceptable if the couple are unhappy. Fundamentalists, however, believe that divorce is never acceptable under any circumstances because Jesus said so and he is always right. Liberals believe that Jesus is the Son of God by adoption and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Who Was Jesus: Radical Or Radical? While Jesus was on earth, many people would say that He lived as a radical because he didn't live for the approval of other. He always did what right according to God no matter how it made the people who didn't believe in him feel. This means that Jesus always had an extreme amount of courage to seek out the root of an important issue. The times that I have that type of courage is whenever I see people that I know doing something that I know is wrong and could be hurtful to someone else, I speak up to tell them the truth about their actions. The total word count of your writing should be between 750–1,250 words. 1. Select one teaching of Jesus from one of the following Bible verses: Matthew 5:21–24, Matthew 5:43–48, Matthew 6:19–24, Matthew 7:15–23, Luke 15:1–32, John 13:1–17 & 34–35, John 15:1–11. After reading each of the selected scriptures, they all have one thing in common, Jesus, the Son of God, has all the power, strength, wisdom, love, and knowledge as God. Jesus mentions in several of these passages his abilities are the same as God and it is through the Father that He is able to do the things that He does. Knowing Jesus, was the same as knowing the Father. Jesus is the most complete countenance of God in history. 3. How would you personally answer Jesus' question, "But who do you say that I am?" Describe your own beliefs about Jesus. Jesus, the Son of God! Jesus did what only God can do. Jesus is a perfect leader, healer, and man of His word. My beliefs are very traditional. Being raised in a Christian home, the teaching of the birth, life, and resurrection of Jesus were taught. At a young age, accepting Christ as my personal savior was a choice that I made as I understood that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ to take away my sins so that I could have eternal life. There was so much that I never knew about Christ at a young age that I have begun to see as an adult. I know that if we have faith and we believe in the Word of God, that things will come to pass. Through many adversities, I have learned to keep my faith in the Lord and His mercy and grace always prevail. I have learned the patience that God has bestowed upon me and I know that everything that is to happen in out lived all happen on Gods time. We cannot change what Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Divinity and Humanity of Jesus Essay "Who do people say that I am?" (Mark 8:27) is one of the most fundamental questions that Jesus asked his disciples. It is a question, from my personal viewpoint, that has a simple answer. Jesus is Lord! Needless to say, there is more to the identity of Jesus, but it is my belief that Jesus is the Messiah, the second person of the Holy Trinity. He is the promised Savior foretold in the Old Testament by the prophets. There is an endless list that givesJesus titles such as Ruler and King, Master and Teacher, Savior and Christ, but in Acts 2:36 Luke writes, "God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified." Jesus is the one who went to the Cross to bring humankind forgiveness, redemption, and salvation. Over the...show more content... Another personal favorite scripture is also written in the gospel of John, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life (3:16). John is emphasizing the relationship between Father [God] and Son [Jesus]. He is saying that the Son has come from the Father and in order to see the Father one must first believe in the Son (125). Divinity is the very character of God. Therefore, Jesus' divinity is made known repeatedly throughout the New Testament. In the very first words of the Gospel of Mark 1:1, Mark writes "The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God." It establishes him as the manifestation of God in human form. Then later in Mark 1:14, scripture says that the time had come for worldwide repentance because the "Kingdom of God" was coming soon. Jesus is not who they imagined; the people of Israel were expecting a king who would establish an earthly kingdom and rescue them from the oppression of the Roman Empire. The Jewish community did not understand nor did it resonate that God's deliverance would be for all people (108–109). With the proclamation of the Kingdom of God, Jesus seeks to bring about God's plan for humanity through physical, spiritual, and social healing. His purpose and mission is to prepare the hearts and minds of the people so they can build new lives in God's kingdom. Jesus often uses stories to illustrate his message Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Summary Of ' The Life Of Jesus ' Introduction: Intro to Christianity The life of Jesus depicts that of a fable that almost seems impossible to believe or too good to be true. It a gift worth receiving, a far greater gift that can be or ever will be offered. Abundant life, a word constantly mentioned as the result of having faith in Jesus. The fact that a righteous died on the cross for the atonement of sins for the unrighteous seems illogical. In fact, many things Jesus spoke about was illogical; it went contrary to human rational. It questioned many traditional laws that the Jewish people abided by for over 400 years. Pharisees hated Jesus and held bitterness in their hearts. They were blinded by their pride and knowledge. Jesus attracted the public with his message of forgiveness and grace. Jesus was a God of second chances. "For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." Why would an omnipotent God show unconditional love for a sinful and darkness–loving humanity? Who was Jesus? To be able to explain this, I will briefly run through the movie in hope to pictorially get my analysis through and insight on the life and teaching of the messiah. Film Analysis of the film Jesus's explicit declaration as deity The movie starts with the first verse of the book of John, "in the beginning was the word, the word was with God and the word was God." A famous verse that supports Jesus's status as son of God, verse 14 says this, "the word became flesh and made his dwelling among Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Jesus Identity Essay Jesus was affirmed in His relationship with the Father and therefore His identity as the Father's Son enabled Him to conform His life to one that was pleasing to God. Jesus knew His identity was tied to God, despite the Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes claiming that He was a blasphemer and a worker of Satan, Jesus proclaimed that, "I and the Father are one." When those in authority failed to see His value He stayed true to who the Father said He was and didn't doubt for one moment who He was called to be. He lived His life in accordance to the Father's plans and because of that He lived in constant state of pleasing God, one example of this is when John the Baptist questioned Jesus need to be baptized by him and Jesus demanded that they did...show more content... For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.' Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him." In His work of fulfilling the righteousness of God, an exhausting schedule was something that Jesus was accustomed to as He traveled throughout the land and did His Father's business everywhere He went, "And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people." Yet, in the mist of all the demands that faced Him, He made sure He took care of Himself by stealing away from His disciples and the crowd in solitary prayer, "And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed." He demonstrated the importance of self care in terms of making time, no matter how early, to spend with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Who Is Jesus Christ? Essay The name Jesus Christ spawns multiple feelings throughout cultures. Jesus Christ is also a name that has impacted everyone in a monumental way and is impacting all aspects of society. No matter how you feel about Jesus Christ, it is insurmountable to deny the fact that he is not an impactful figure in the world we live in today. The question that is frequently asked about this ponderous figure is "who is Jesus". This question does not hold only one individual answer, but withholds multiple answers. Depending on the culture, country, time, place, and especially who you ask, you will receive answers that all hold uniqueness. In less of an opinionated stance, the Holy Bible holds the answer to who exactly he is and why is such a conspicuous figure. To understand Jesus Christ and formulate an opinion on him, we must interpret the Holy Bible and construe his impact in not only today's society, but history. There is no denying that the upbringing of a religious figure has caused mountainous affects in history; both positively and negatively. The destruction and saving of man has inevitably been a result of multiple religions throughout the world. Whether you fathom a mindset of acceptance or denial, Jesus Christ is one of the world's most notable figures. Although previously noted, the importance of understanding Jesus Christ is essential. So in a historical context, who is Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is considered the son of God and the messiah who sacrificed his own life in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. The Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ Essay The Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ When we talk about Jesus as a leader, we may imply two different forms: Jesus as the only Son of God, God of the universe, or the risen Christ as being one with God; or Jesus as the 1 st century flesh and blood human being, the historical figure. Since the purpose of studying leadership is to improve one's own leadership skills, it makes sense to analyze Jesus' applicable traits, actions, and accomplishments as a good leader–in his historical role–so his leadership skills can be feasibly related to ourselves as human beings. I will attempt to analyze, using modern leadership criteria, how Jesus of Nazareth, the Jew and carpenter's son, was an effective spiritual leader of his time. Let us first...show more content... Jesus gave a frank opinion about his purpose when he said, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them" (Matt. 5:17). Cronin adds, "Leaders are people who know who they are and know where they are going. . . . [They] must be self–reliant individuals with great tenacity and stamina" (36). So aside from the common interpretations that Jesus was the Son of God or the Messiah (sent to earth to be king and deliverer of the Jews), Jesus was an intelligent man, who usually knew what to say and when to say it. N.T. Wright writes, "Jesus spoke of himself as a prophet, he behaved as a prophet, and when others referred to him in this way he did not correct them" (33). Before we can explain how Jesus articulated his vision, we must first examine what his vision was. Wright writes, "Jesus was a first–century Jewish prophet announcing God's kingdom. This was the very center of his mission and message" (33). Most likely, Jesus would say his goal was to do God's will in order to fulfill the prophecies (as predicted in the Old Testament) and save the "lost" (Matt. 18:11, Luke 19:10). Since he was sent to earth as a means for people to get to heaven, his vision was that people could develop Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Crucifixion of Jesus Christ Essay In this report we will deal with Crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. This report we'll have as bible text the gospel of Matthew 27:32–50, and these verses will be analyzed verse by verse. It's very great to observe that all gospels talk about Jesus' Crucifixion in a larger section than others events from his life. There is a great reason: for Jesus this last part of his work means the finishing God's plan of salvation. Paul says he humbled himself, and become obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross (Philippians 2:8). So we will observe the following of event as Matthew wrote in his gospel. 27:32–34: 32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cy–re'na, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross, 33 They were come unto...show more content... This word Calvary comes from the Latin Vulgate, where calvaria is the regular translation of the Greek kranion writes Earle Ralph in Beacome Bible Commentary. They came to the execution place; probably the common place of execution, the soldiers in charge with execution of Jesus Christ gave him vinegar to drink with gall. That drink was usually offered to convicts that their pain to be improved. But Jesus didn't drink this drink, he refused it because he wanted to "drink all undiluted bitterness". 27:35–38: 35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them and upon my vesture did they cost lots. 36 And sitting down they watched him there. 37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. Jesus was crucified, his hands and foot were mailed to the cross, and then reared it up and him hanging on it; because that was the manner of Romans to crucify. Henry Matthew writes in his commentary next thing: "The barbarous and abusive treatment they gone him, in which their wit and malice vied which should excel. As if death, so great a death were not bad enough, they contrived to add to the bitterness and terror of it." The sufferings of Jesus intensified as he drew near to the cross. • 11. The Historical Existence Of Jesus Essay Introduction Some scholars argue that evidence of Jesus of Nazareth 's existence can only be found within the writings of the New Testament. They believe that the New Testament is a biased and unreliable source for the existence of Jesus. They therefore claim that Jesus did not exist. The historical existence of Jesus is necessary to demonstrate the truth of Christianity. While Christian scholars do not discount the reliability of the New Testament as a historical document, they are also able to point to other historical documents and consider non–Christian writings which support the existence of Jesus. In this paper I will argue that Jesus the Nazarene was an actual, historical person and that this can be demonstrated through extra–Biblical resources. Tacitus Tacitus, perhaps the greatest Roman historian, provides us with an account of the fire of Rome.1 It is within this account, recorded in The Annals, that Tacitus mentions Jesus. In chapters 38 through 45 of Annals 15, Tacitus discusses how Nero implicated Christians as those responsible for the fire. But neither human resourcefulness nor the emperor's largesse nor appeasement of the gods could stop belief in the nasty rumor that an order had been given for the fire. To dispel the gossip Nero therefore found culprits on whom he inflicted the most exotic punishments. These were people hated for their shameful offences whom the common people called Christians. The man who gave them their name, Christus, had been executed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Trial of Jesus Essay In The Judaeo–Christian Tradition by Jack H. Hexter, the trial of Jesus is addressed in an unorthodox perspective. The trial of Jesus incorporates two trials: the Roman trial and the Jewish trial. In Hexter's book the Roman trial is addressed in great length while the Jewish trial is almost unaddressed. Hexter provides a perspective of the trial of Jesus with only one cause: the charge of sedition, for claiming to be king of the Jews. By using the four gospel texts, Hexter's view is illuminated and we find crucial aspects to the trial that not only counter Hexter's view on the sedition charge but also provide evidence for other important charges. Themes other than the charge of sedition supporting Hexter's perspective include, the...show more content... Hexter blames Pilate for being the sole decision–maker for the death of Jesus, but once again, the Four Gospel texts allude the Jewish community for being a major influence upon the death of Jesus. Hexter begins his thesis with one sentence stating that only Pilate gave the order of Jesus' death: "...who in turn gave him to the procurator Pontius Pilate for trial." (Hexter 63) Hexter does not address the Jewish community that is in upheaval during a time of Passover or Pilates role throughout the trial. Pontius Pilate, as Roman Governor, had a position to fulfill to the Roman population along with the Jewish community. During a time of Jewish Passover, along with the chaos Jesus had created, Pilate was under great influence from many outside factors. "The stir created by Jesus' preaching and the size of his following perturbed both the Roman and the Jewish authorities, fearful of any wind that might fan the smoldering discontent in Palestine into a raging flame of revolt." (Hexter 62) In the Roman trial, Pilate was chosen to judge Jesus on the act of sedition, however counter to Hexter's perspective, repeatedly stated that he saw no case against him. In the Gospel of John, it is apparent that Pilate not only doesn't want to be involved but is puzzled at the situation at hand. "Your own nation and the chief of priests have handed you over to me; what have you done?" (John 18:33) Pilate is attempting to keep order in his city and rather not involve Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. The Human Form Of Jesus Essay With the knowledge that the human form was fit for Jesus, now the focus can shift to the evidence that he was human and his human form was humanizing. Jesus lived a life on earth and suffered like every other person does. As mentioned previously, Jesus experienced temptation by the Devil as seen in Matthew 4. He experienced hunger as seen in Mark 11:12. He experienced weariness as seen in John 4:6, "So Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well" (). He experienced sorrow many times as seen when Lazarus died in John 11 and several other places. He also experience pain and suffering on the cross and he died just as everyone on earth does as well. By every standard Jesus was a human being. He lived and died as everyone else on this planet does. His humanity was humanizing. He was a human being and demonstrated all the characteristics of being one. The only difference is that he was able to live a life without sin. So Jesus' human nature was in no way dehumanizing; he exhibited every characteristic that humans face and conquered every struggle. Even though Christ lived a perfect life as a man, Christians cannot even attempt to do the same. While on earth, Jesus fulfilled the law, meaning he never broke it, conquered every temptation, and never succumbed to one sin. He outlined the perfect life of a Christian. Romans three clearly states that every human is fallen and sinful, which shows that no matter what, at the end of the day every person, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Jesus And The Personality Theory Essay Jesus & The Personality Theory: Exploring the Five Factor Model was written by James Beck in 1999 and entails a biblical perspective of what the five dimensions looked like primarily through the life of Jesus. Neuroticism, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness to Experience, and Extraversion are all examined in the book as each section focuses on a brief introduction of a particular personality trait and then keys in a couple of concepts that can arise from said trait. The book gives practical, biblical, and historical examples of how these traits look in life, making it an interesting read for those who are counselors or even preachers. From the beginning of the book, Beck had two main goals to portray to his audience. 1. Jesus is a counseling model for Christian counselors because his teachings speak directly to the five major components of human personality. 2. These teachings are wonderful because they the composition of human personality. Thus by someone reading this book, a person will have a better understand of how Jesus' personality shaped the way he interacted with people as well as how he or she may use his teachings to get a better understanding of their own personality. The book begins by stating that everyone has distinct personalities and no two people alike. As one could examine the biblical cases of Jacob and Esau or Ruth and Esther, he could see that God created every individually uniquely, thus the five factors for every person will not be the same. In John 4:8,16 it says that God is love. This i s a paraphrase but it is still stating something that is very important. That v erse shows that Jesus had (and still does) mercy and compassion for us.Another v erse that shows that God's love as apparent is John 3:16,"For God so loved the w orld that he gave his only begotten son that who believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.".He has so much l ove for us that he even gives us life. He could just let us Christians live our own life but, He helps us out with His great grace. Grace is part of the wh ole effect of God's love. Basically what grace is, is way that God deals with u s. It has nothing to do with what we deserve or basis of merit, but it is givin g out by how much we need. God deals with them according to his goodness and ge nerosity. That seems similar to benevolence, but it isn't. Jesus' grace is real ly shown in the New Testament. In Exodus 34:6it says "The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious...". In Ephesians 2:7©9 it says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith©and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God©not by works, so that no one can boast. • 16. Who Was Jesus? Essay Now–a–days it seems like religion has become somewhat of a taboo. It has fallen on the back burners, pushed behind things such as famous actors that people look up to or things portrayed in the media. The thing is, the most important figure in history is part of religion and should be revered much more than the idolized actors of today. Thehuman population has become blind to spiritual life and has become engulfed by a social lifestyle. If you look around, people have forgotten what it's like to know Jesus and any aspect of religion. Religion is the biggest part of any person's life because it is the building block for everything we have. Something that I want to bring up is the story of the cave by Plato. Plato told a story about three...show more content... To start off, I will say a very simple fact, Jesus is everything and everyone. Jesus is all that is around us. When I say this I mean that Jesus is the reason we are where we are, He made everything possible for us and we don't understand that. Jesus is a symbol of strength, Saving grace, human weakness, hope, life, love, understanding, knowledge, wisdom and almost any other intangible definition of humanity that we could think of. The reason I say this is because Jesus of scripture was everything good in the world and also he highlighted humanity as we are. Jesus in scripture is shown in every situation and can be applied to our world as a symbol. He is in all that is good and also in any situation that is bad. I don't mean bad as in he is the creator of evil because that would be a complete religious contradiction. I mean that Jesus is the hope in any bad situation. He is what makes evil turn out good. Jesus makes anything bad become understandable through all that He means. Next we must understand that Jesus was fully God and fully human. We must have both parts in order to understand that he saved us and that he was one and the same with God. McGrath says, "Although all people are children of God in some sense of the word, the New Testament holds that Jesus is the son of God."(McGrath, 67) This shows us that Jesus is directly connected to God and therefore he Get more content on HelpWriting.net

His birth was miraculous, the way he lived was very sin free and religious and his death changed people's lives forever. The innocence and loyalty that Jesus portrayed was still not enough for the Roman Empire. He was just too over powering for the government and other peoples lives and was considered a risky individual. The birth of Jesus was said to be on December 25 yet in the bible there was no set date on which he was born. Jesus was born in Jerusalem 200 years ago to a young woman named Mary. • 20. The Teaching of Jesus Essay Will the teachings of Jesus Christ be able to survive the 3rd millennium? Jesus emphasized the actions and teachings of God by using his life as an example of God's ways. He was an exact representation of God which made him God as well. Jesus referred to the history of God in his teachings. He used the basis of God's teachings that God demonstrated through Adam, Abraham and David. There were approximately 4000 years between the start of man up to the time of Christ's birth. Then for the last 2000 years after Christ, the church has risen steadily. So, in total, that is 6000 years of Jesus' teachings or the basis of his teachings, which have become more popular now then when they first started out at the beginning 6000 years ago. She has even gone so far as to impact the whole world and leave a lasting impression of the love Jesus has for us through her actions. Secondly, as we enter into the next millennium, every human is searching for love, acceptance, and security, which are, the three major needs of the human soul. Now imagine for a second what it would be like if all the bad things that are predicted about our future were to come true. Just imagine if all the computers really did crash or even if the world really did end. Well, we don't have to fear about these things because, like I said, we are all searching for love, acceptance, and security and we can find all of these needs through Jesus and his teachings. Mark 3:34–35 is a great example of how accepting Jesus is. "Then he looked at those around him and said, "these are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does God's will id my brother and sister and mother." This is simply saying that Jesus accepts everybody as his family as long as they believe in God. Jesus wants us all to feel secure. Psalm 46:1–5 is an excellent verse showing why we can feel secure with the basis of Jesus' teachings: "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into to sea. Let the oceans roar and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
