Virus ini mula tersebar di Arab Saudi, dan perhatian lebih perlu diberikan kepada jemaah-jemaah yang baru pulang dari Umrah di Makkah & Madinah, Arab Saudi.

  2. 2. Promed as of 9/7/13 • Since the last update - 20 Jun 2013 • 16 new lab-confirmed cases – Saudi Arabia • 8 of the new cases were asymptomatic • 4 were female health care workers • 4 were children aged 7 to 15 years • had contact with confirmed cases

WHO 20/6/13 • the index case, adult Italian , travelled to Jordan • mild respiratory symptoms one day before returning home • admitted with pneumonia 3 days after returning home. • positive for MERS-CoV. • Contact monitoring - two contacts developed respiratory symptoms: a 42-year-old co-worker and a 14-month-old close relative. • Both tested positive for MERS-CoV. • exposed to the index patient for a single day • Both had mild illnesses and recovered uneventfully

CDC 14/6/13 • 55 laboratory-confirmed cases have been reported • All reported cases were directly or indirectly linked to one of four countries: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates • median age of patients is 56 years (range: 2–94 years) • male-to-female ratio of 2.6 to 1.0 • All patients were aged ≥24 years, except for two children, one aged 2 years and one aged 14 years. • had respiratory symptoms - severe acute respiratory disease requiring hospitalization.
