  1. 1. DESIGN OF TELECOM NETWORK IN SIKKIM Presented by Anwesha Sarkar Anurag Mondal Ankan Debgupta Subham Chakraborty
  2. 2. AIM OF THE PROJECT  Design of a Transmission Network for the State of Sikkim.  Establish a Network for Wireline Services.  We have to provide the Wireline services to 10,000 subscribers.  Establish a Network for Broadband Services.  We have to provide the Broadband services to 5,000 subscribers.
  3. 3. OUR IMPLEMENTATION  The State of Sikkim has 4 Districts (North,South, East,West).  We have selected the following 9 Sub-division Towns :  Local Exchanges are placed in each of the Town.  We have placed the TAX( Tier 1) in Gangtok to support Wireline Traffic & Tier-1 switch & BNG to support the Broadband Traffic in Backbone Network .  We have placed one TAX ( Tier -2) in each of the district . Therefore 4 TAX (Tier-2) in total to support Backhaul Wireline Traffic. • Pakyonk • Namchi • Soreng • Rongli • Gangtok • Chungthan g • Mangon • Ravong • Gyalsing
  4. 4. OUR IMPLEMENTATION (CONT.)  To support the Backhaul Broadband Traffic , we have place one Tier-2 Swiches in each District. Total 4 switches are placed.  Wireline Traffic & Distribution of connection is estimated based on the population density.  Each Broadband Subscriber is provided Bandwidth in the range of 256 -1024 Kbps.  OFC is predominantly used in Broadband Backbone & Backhaul Network.  We have used both OFC & Microwave (Traffic < 2E1)are used in designing the Wireline Backhaul & Backbone Network.  STM Rings are formed in Backbone Network to provide protection from OFC cuts.

  14. 14. CONCLUSION  A Wireline Network & Broadband is established in the state of Sikkim.  In Total 9 local exchanges, 4 TAX(level 2), 4 T2 switches , one TAX(level 1), one T1 switch and one BNG are used in the implementation of the complete network.  STM-1 & STM-64 rings are formed in the Backbone of Wireline & Broadband Network respectively to provide protection from OFC cuts.  Network was predominantly constructed over OFC in order to support higher data rates.
