  2. 2. COLOSSIANS 1:15-20 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.
  3. 3. 17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy.
  4. 4. 19 For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him. 20 And through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.

  6. 6. I. Jesus is above all things because… 1. He is the perfect image of the invisible God.(v15a) 2. He is the firstborn over all creation.(v15b) > the term “firstborn” refers to a position of authority.

  8. 8. I. Jesus is above all things because… 6. In Him dwells the glory and fullness of the unseen God.(v19) 7. Through Him all things on earth, in heaven were reconciled to God the Father.(v20)
  9. 9. II. To what extent Jesus’ authority… > Matthew 28:18…all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Me. > Matthew 11:27…all things have been handed over to Me by my Father. > John 3:35…the Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand.
