Steam Ship DELPHINE is the largest steam yacht built in the US in the 1920's that is still in existence today. Her original owner, Horace Dodge of the Dodge automobile fame designed Delphine's unique quadruple-expansion steam engines, which are still working today. In 1942 she was placed into Naval service and renamed USS Dauntless. After the war, DELPHINE served as a steam ship training vessel for 18 years after which she went throught various owners, finally ending up in France and left in increasing disrepair. From 1997 to 2003 Delphine underwent a huge restoration project. She came to life again back to her original glory thanks to investigation and extensive historical research by her owner's daughter. She now artfully recreates the bygone era of the roaring 20's with all the latest amenities and communication facilities. An exceptional and unique vessel.
