  1. 1. LocationManzanares is in thecentre of Spain, in theregion of Castilla-LaMancha, in the provinceof Ciudad Real. It is 175km away from Madrid,the Capital of Spain

  3. 3. Pilas Bonas Castle The Pilas Bonas Castle was the original nucleus of the town. Buildings grew up around it. The Castle was built in the XIII century.
  4. 4. Pilas Bonas CastleOver the last few years, the castle has beenrestored. Now, Pilas Bonas Castle is one of the best restaurants and hotels of Manzanares. Before After
  5. 5. Nuestra Señora de laAsunción churchwas built in the XVcentury. It is themost importantmonument ofManzanares.
  6. 6. It was a gothic temple,but it was destroyed inthe Spanish Civil War.Now the church’sinteriors are totallydifferent.The tower is fifty fivemetres high. The Renaissancedecoration of the door isone of the mostbeautiful of the region. .
  7. 7. The current Gran Teatro (GreatTheatre) was built in 1994. It is a rebuilding of the original GranTeatro built in 1910, which was destroyed in 1975.
  8. 8. LazarilloEvery year, theInternational Festival ofContemporary Theatretakes place in the GranTeatro. It is one of themost significant culturalfestivals of the town and theregion.

  13. 13. Gastronomy Manzanares has very famous wines and excellent cheeses from La Mancha whichhave “Protected Denomination of Origin”. For example, Señorío de Guadianeja, Yuntero, Quesos Hidalgo or Cabrera
  14. 14. In Manzanares thereare some hotels but one of them belongs to the most famous net of Spanish hotels called“paradores nacionales”.
  15. 15. Every summer, in July, the Feria delCampo y Muestras de Castilla laMancha, FERCAM is held. It is a fairwith an exhibition of agriculturalmachines, cars, tractors… There arealso travel agencies, household itemsshops, etc.

  17. 17. Don Quixote of (from) La ManchaLa Mancha is a region in thecentre of Spain which isfamous because Miguel deCervantes wrote the famousnovel Don Quixote of LaMancha inspired in thisregion. Don Quixote andSancho Panza have theiradventures principally in LaMancha, where they are from.
  18. 18. La Mancha is a big plainin the centre of Spain.The vegetation ismediterranean and thereare some lakes likeTablas de Daimiel, whichis a National Park.

  25. 25. La Mancha is in the centreof Spain, so it’s very close to historical cities like Toledo, Cuenca, Córdoba, Sevilla, Granada or Madrid, the capital of Spain.
  26. 26. The main crops are cereal, vineyards and olives. Theproduction of milkfrom sheep is also very important.

  28. 28. Our high school is Pedro Álvarez de Sotomayor. It was founded in 1956. Itwas the first high school of Manzanares. Pedro Álvarez de Sotomayor was the priest that protected Manzanares from the napoleonic invasion in 1809.

  30. 30. In the centre you can study E.S.O (compulsorysecondary education) and Bachillerato(advanced education before University)
  31. 31. The bilingual project started in the course 2006-2007. There was only one bilingual class in 1º ofESO. Now there are bilingual classes in 1º,2º,3ºand 4º of ESO. The bilingual subjects are:Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, Biology,Physical Education, Art etc…• El proyecto bilingüe se inicio en el curso 2006- 2007, fue el primer curso que el centro tuvo sección europea, en este año solo una clase de 1º de la ESO dio clases en bilingüe: ingles, educación física y biología.
  32. 32. We start the classes at 8:30 in the morning. Wehave two breaks of twenty minutes. The classes are55 minutes long. We finish at 14:30 and go home to have lunch. Students from other towns come to our high school to study and to take the exam that allows you to go to university.
