The Desert by Sameer Nathani <ul><li>A barren, desolate wasteland finds a desert. </li></ul><ul><li>Silent and still are the sands, </li></ul><ul><li>With a whistling at night. </li></ul><ul><li>It feels swelteringly hot and blistering like the inside of an oven. </li></ul><ul><li>It smells like sweating, stinking bodies and human faeces that collect in canals. </li></ul><ul><li>Dry, sandy grit forms a nauseus taste in my mouth. </li></ul><ul><li>The air is thick with heat and dirt. </li></ul><ul><li>Crawling lizards and rattlesnakes rear their ugly heads on the wheat-coloured sand. </li></ul>
