  2. 2. Background <ul><li>In the year 2002-03, 3062 homeless found dead on the streets of Delhi (UIDB-DP) </li></ul><ul><li>PIL in supreme court to save homeless lives </li></ul><ul><li>Supreme court Direction to Delhi Govt to initiate a programme to save homeless lives. </li></ul>

The Journey Begins <ul><li>In the year 2002-03 AAA,MCD&Govt of Delhi started joint winter campaign to save lives. </li></ul><ul><li>Role and responsibilities decided As like--- </li></ul><ul><li>Revenue Department organized a meeting of NGOs. </li></ul><ul><li>Revenue Department provide tents and electricity with coordination with concern Departments . </li></ul><ul><li>MCD Slum and jj – Open permanent building. </li></ul><ul><li>AAA manage and operate in 24x7 system. </li></ul>

Type of Shelters <ul><li>Shelters in the form of Tents. </li></ul><ul><li>Shelters in the forms of permanent existing vacant buildings . </li></ul><ul><li>Shelters that build for Night shelters </li></ul><ul><li>Shelters in School and Colleges </li></ul><ul><li>Shelters in Religious institutions. </li></ul>

Operational Mechanism <ul><li>A control room was setup at Slum &JJ office under the guidance of DD Night shelter. </li></ul><ul><li>Weekly meeting of NGOs was Convene by DD Night Shelter at their chamber. </li></ul><ul><li>A monitoring Committee was Look after winter work. </li></ul><ul><li>Weekly occupancy and report writing submitted to concern departments. </li></ul>

AAA role <ul><li>Operationalised parallel 24 Hours Control room in One of Shelter. </li></ul><ul><li>Provided cloth, warm cloths, Blankets, Mug bucket etc. </li></ul><ul><li>Provided caretaker on 24 Hours basis </li></ul><ul><li>Provided 24 Hours Medical crisis and emergency </li></ul><ul><li>Provided First Aid Boxes at Shelters. </li></ul><ul><li>Regular Night out to handled emergencies. </li></ul>
  7. 7. The Period of Winter Campaign <ul><li>The process started in the month of November with a meeting organized by Revenue office. </li></ul><ul><li>The Shelter started in phases from December. </li></ul><ul><li>Winter tents and shelters ended by 31 st March. </li></ul><ul><li>The Regular shelters(13 with capacity of 3000 person on 24x7 basis) continue as it is. </li></ul>
