Suhrud Mandal was established in 1973 to empower and enrich the lives of hearing impaired. Every year 25,000 children are born with hearing impairment in India. No hearing means, no language, no academics, limited financial independence and poor quality of life. Suhrud Mandal wishes to transform their lifestyle, started with 5 children and now has 500 children with hearing impairment enrolled in four of their schools.

Do you know? <ul><li>Every year 25,000 children with hearing impairment are born in India </li></ul><ul><li>Few thousand number gets added with acquired hearing loss in a year. </li></ul><ul><li>Hearing impairment is a silent disability </li></ul><ul><li>The effects are magnanimous. </li></ul><ul><li>No hearing, means No language. No academics, limited financial independence and poor quality of life </li></ul>

Gardening, to develop Ear Mould Laboratory </li></ul><ul><li>Developing aptitude towards various trades </li></ul><ul><li>Creating job opportunities to individuals with hearing impairment </li></ul>

Developing literacy program <ul><li>There are nearly 2,00,000 individuals with HI in Maharashtra state . </li></ul><ul><li>Only 11,000 children are enrolled in special schools. </li></ul><ul><li>10,000 enrolled in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan </li></ul><ul><li>Is the formal education a good solution ? </li></ul>

Mobile Learning <ul><li>Developing reading-writing skills through m-learning </li></ul><ul><li>500 words/phrases will be adequate to develop functional literacy </li></ul><ul><li>It will be in the form of script, visuals, and sign language </li></ul><ul><li>Program will be based on competency and skills </li></ul><ul><li>We need technical and financial support to develop this program </li></ul>
