4. 4. How often will you post?
The minimum should be once a week.
Get consistent about when you are going to post.
Readers are creatures of habit.
But consider the “surprise” unscheduled post as well!
©
5. 5. Mixing it up
Does your blog cover a number of different categories within a niche?
Make a conscious effort to cover all of those categories over the course of a week and a month.
For example, I blog about fashion, beauty and blogging.
Blogging: Saturdays; Fashion 2-3 times a week; Beauty 2-3 times a week.
©
6. 6. Tools of the trade
Keep a notebook handy at all times – or use the notes function of your phone.
Write and schedule posts to keep consistency.
WordPress users: install the WordPress Editorial Calendar plugin to help you keep variety and diversity in your blog posts.
©
7. 7. Write in your own voice
In any given niche there are hundreds maybe thousands of blogs.
How do you stand out from the pack?
What makes your blog different from the rest?
©
8. 8. You!
©
10. 10. It’s a conversation
Write as you speak; imagine having a chat with your readers in a café or bar
Give us an insight into your life through your words
Make us laugh
Make us cry
Make us think
Make us want to connect
©
15. 15. But I write a business blog
So do I!
The same principles of conversation and connection apply.
It’s no longer enough to have a great product or service.
Your future customers want a piece of you – not just what you’re selling.
Let them connect through your writing voice.
©
