In anticipation of significant growth in the population the organization serves and with state
mandated, structural requirements, LMH developed a one billion dollar Facilities Master Plan
(FMP) that includes building a large state of the art hospital and building four satellite clinics within
the community. The capital necessary to actualize the FMP has partially been secured through state
healthcare bonds. The remaining capital needed will be raised through, operational revenue,
philanthropic efforts, and strategic growth strategies over the next 10 years. The challenge is to
provide safe patient care today with a limited amount of financial resources. LMH implemented a
enterprise wide EHR system in 2008, phase I of the project is complete but lucks stability and
optimization. The challenges and ongoing issues with phase I of the EHR implementation project
have caused a delay in the implementation of phase II. Staff nurses and pharmacist collaborated to
develop a costly proposal to replace all IV pumps with smart IV pumps. The proposal has received
mixed reviews among clinical staff, the Chief Informatics Officer (CIO), and the director of
pharmacy. The clinical staff argue there are other issues that warrant priority and

Pharmacist Accomplishments
Last week, I had the privilege of listening to Dr. Phil Schneider, the director of pharmacy at the
Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Dr. Schneider's lecture reemphasized the need for students
to consider residency programs after graduating from the Doctor of Pharmacy program (PharmD).
As a third year pharmacy student, I have heard so much about how residency could make me an
outstanding pharmacist, but never took it seriously. However, hearing it directly from a director of
pharmacy that residency will get me the job, promotion and networking opportunities after
graduation has rekindled my interest in doing residency. Since the inception of my pharmacy
program, I have never given doing a residency program the consideration I have given ... Show

Dr. Schneider spoke about how he succeeded his boss after she left for another job offer because his
employers considered him better trained and equipped for the job as a result of doing a residency.
For a pharmacist who just started working without any prior residency training, the confidence to
serve at a higher level would have been missing. It is certain that residency will give me the
experience to be well–rounded in my profession and also confer the confidence I need to take on
more challenging roles in life. Another way residency can help me as a pharmacist is in the aspect of
building a strong networking team. As a resident, I will have the opportunity to work with numerous
people from different backgrounds where knowledge transfer can take place. This will help me learn
new skills, new ideas, and also gain meaningful experience from other senior colleagues. There
would be times I need advice in making a therapeutic decision and knowing someone to call could
make a huge difference.
In conclusion, doing a residency program after graduation is such a great way to be an outstanding
and successful pharmacist in life. Residency will not only get me a dream job, but it can also help
me gain accelerated promotion in my work place and build a strong networking foundation as a

Why Pharmacy Is The Benefits And Risks
All four of my grandparents grew up in China, in a small culture where "foreign" medicine, meaning
medication and surgery, was not deemed acceptable or healthy for the human body. Invasive
procedures and drugs were considered unnatural and looked down upon. However, a new age of
scientific technology and knowledge has come around and when my paternal grandmother refused
an eye surgery, she went partially blind until she agreed to go through with the surgery and take the
medications she was assigned after. Although prescriptions are now engineered to be of the least
minimal risk, the stubbornness of my grandmother has inspired me to join the pharmaceutical field,
in hopes of making medication and prescriptions as safe and risk–free as ... Show more content on

This consultative aspect of pharmacy is what interests me the most.
There are different kinds of pharmacists, but these are the general ones: community pharmacists,
clinical pharmacists, consultant pharmacists and pharmaceutical industry pharmacists. Community
pharmacists "work in retail stores such as chain drug stores or independently owned pharmacies"
(U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics), such as Rite–Aid or Target. They are the pharmacies that provide
over–the–counter medications and often give out free flu shots. Clinical pharmacists are those who
give pharmaceutical advice to those in hospitals and clinics. However, they spend "less time
prescribing medication" (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) and are more "involved in direct patient
care" (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). As well as recommending drugs, they actually oversee the
dosage and timing of the medication in the hospital. In the field of pharmacy, clinical pharmacists
have duties more similar to those of physicians than community pharmacists, whom act as a
modern–day apothecary. Consultant pharmacists "provide expert advice on the use of medications
by individuals or within institutions, or on the provision of pharmacy services to institutions"
(American Society of Consultant Pharmacists). Rather than prescribing medications or the hands–on
surveillance of drugs, consultant pharmacists are just that – consults of medication. Consultant

"Let's create an AIDS/HIV–free generation", which is not only a slogan that was proposed by
President Obama but also a goal that I would like to achieve on my future career path. My practicum
project at the Department of Health and Human Services was to generate dataset of new AIDS/HIV
cases in Houston/Harris area required by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and then to
use ArcGIS software to make a map describing the new diagnosed in Houston area. The final
products can be spatially lined to other sources to enhance understanding of social determinants of
health affecting populations impacted by HIV. This practicum experience let me realize that AIDS
spreads so quickly is because most people have insufficient knowledge or misconception about the
disease and prevention. Becoming a pharmacist to provide prevention service and educate people to
improve their health and wellbeing is how I want to reach the goal of creating an AIDS/HIV–free

My Choice For Choosing A Career
I wish to embark on a lifelong career as an academician and a researcher, seeking to expand the
boundaries of knowledge and learning in the field of pharmacy. My choice for selecting a career in
pharmacy is truly based on my natural flair towards science.
As the wonders of sciences in high school inspired me, I decided a career in the area of Medical
Pharmaceutical Sciences. The desire to study medical sciences prompted me to consider the study of
pharmaceutical sciences as I was always adept at the conceptual understanding of science and the
scope of what science has to offer to the world simply enticed me. I joined the Gandhi College of
Pharmacy, Karnal under Haryana State Board of Technical Education, which offered a dynamic
Diploma in Pharmacy with the best faculty and facilities. The day I attended my first class in
diploma I decided to build a career in Medical Research. I would now get a chance to contribute to
the society and I passed my diploma program with 78.7% marks, emerging as a topper of the
college.
Driven by my interest in Pharmacy and the confidence of an excellent student, I appeared for

Tiffany Van Acker Interview
Introduction
I asked Tiffany Van Acker to provide input for my manager interview assignment. She is the
manager of Walgreens chain drug store in Gautier Mississippi. I Chose Dr. Van Acker as my
interview candidate because of the relationship we formed while working at Walgreens together. I
wanted to analyze her responses because she helps patients in my community whom I will most
likely interact with once I graduate. Dr. Van Acker has a Pharm D and BS in Biology/Chemistry and
has been practicing as a pharmacist for 5 years. She was a pharmacist for 1 year before becoming a
manager and currently has 7 employees under her supervision. About half of her time used for
patient care and the remaining time is split between dispensing and managerial tasks. I am not very
familiar with her specific work location since she recently went to work for a new Walgreens store. I
do know that she serves Mississippi gulf coast patients on a daily basis that I also have experience
working with.
Summary
7. What are your greatest challenges as a manager?
Dr. Van Acker said that her greatest challenge is implementing change in the pharmacy.
8. What do you feel are the best things about being a manager?
Being a manager afforded Dr. Van Acker with the opportunity to lead her staff in her own

What After Passing the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm)?
Pharmacists play an important role as one of the significant healthcare professionals. Every
pharmacy student need to give their best effort in the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree course
to graduate and become a pharmacist. If some students just graduated but there is no place for pre–
registration training, it would be very devastating considering on how much effort they had put to
graduate.
The entry of first year MPharm students have increased over the year from 1672 students in 1997 to
2978 students in 2006 followed by 3744 students in 2010.1 If we compare the number of first year
students between 1997 and 2010, we can notice that there is about 124% increase in number. Most
of the 1997 first year students graduated in 2001 while 2006 first year students graduated on 2010.
This had been followed with the increase in the MPharm graduates from 2001 which has 1302
graduates to 2809 graduates in 2010.1 From 2007 to 2010, there is about 10% increase in number of
MPharm graduates every year.1
There is about 152% increase in pharmacy students from year 1999 which had about 4200 students
to 10599 students in 2011.1
In order to become a fully qualified pharmacists, the MPharm graduates should complete the pre–
registration training. One of the main reasons why the number of MPharm students should be
controlled is because the places for the pre–registration training did not increase as dramatically as
the number of students. In fact, some of the main body that offered

The Career I Choose For My Junior Project Is Pharmacy

They also use computers to find (EHRs) Electronic Health Records for the patients. The pharmacist
will need to be able to talk to the patient and offer advise for their medications. They will need to be
able to manage inventory and staff that work for them. To become a pharmacist one will need to go

Why I Want Pursue A Career
The college major that I hope to pursue is pharmacy. There are many reasons as to why I want to
pursue a career in pharmacy. For one, I have three cousins who has a career in the medical field and
are very successful right now. Another reason is because of my aunt and uncle. They have made me
realize that being either a doctor or pharmacist is a very good career to pursue because I can be a
role model to their kids and that would want them to pursue a similar career. Basically I've been
convinced to go for a career in the medical field throughout my whole life. I'm also in medical
classes at school, so I already have plentiful knowledge of medical careers and I would be at a
disadvantage if I do decide to my career path. In the future I hope to go to Texas A&M. I've visited
the campus many times and I've been on campus tours learning about the history and traditions of
the school. I feel like it would be a good fit for me and many people also tell me it's a good fit for
me as well. Pharmacy is the science and technique of preparing and dispensing drugs. It is a health

There are still many opinions about pharmacy's origin because many theories are based on logic and
analogies rather than concrete evidence. Much is known about prehistoric diseases due to the
damage of people's bodies found by archaeologists in ancient bones. However, finding evidence of
early man trying to use natural resources as medicinal drugs is scarce. Prehistoric man viewed the
causes of diseases as wraths from supernatural or spiritual beings. This caused our ancient ancestors
to practice a type of "magic" which used plants and often objects for rituals to make peace with evil
and disease–causing spirits ( Kremers, 3).
The ancient people learned many things from instinct. Things like water, an herb or mud were most
likely man's first soothing applications. Trial and error helped man learn which substances brought
the best results and shared them with other people. The advanced profession of pharmacy most
likely evolved from simple and crude methods used by our ancient ancestors (A History 1).
The farthest date that pharmacy can be traced back to is about 4000 B.C. The Sumerian population

Working In A Small Company Analysis
Our work is the most important part of our lives. No matter where we are or what we do, we can't
escape our responibilities in order to support ourselves at least. Some people prefer to work in large
comanies, others prefer to work within small companies. In my opinion, I would difinetely work
within a small company for a few reasons. First of all, you can much more when you work within
large companies. When you get hired in a large comapny, you will see how they have a sophisticated
training system and controlled work environment. For example, I was got hired in the one of largest
and famous pharmacies in my area. At the beginning, they gave me and my collegues a long,
detailed lecture about the vision and the mission of the company. Then, I was sent to ... Show more

When you start working in a large company, you would have great chances for promotions and
benefits. For example. Four years ago, I was working in a small pharmacy as a pharmacy intern. I
was paid well, though I was not promised to get hired once I would get my license. Even though, I
was a dedicated and multitasking employee, they don't committed to give me the pharmcist position
because when I spoke with my human resources manager, She told me that their budget is so tight
and my new position would be a great burden on it. She said when they hired me as a pharmacy
intern, they did not think to grant my the pharmacist position in the future. In the other hand, When I
started working within a chain pharmacy, they told me once I get my license, they will hold the
position for me. In addition, they said that, If I do well, they would increase my salary. Moreover, If
I want to move to the other state, they would hire me in any location in that state, so don't have to
worry about leaving the company and finding another one. As you can see, once we work within
large companies, we would switch our jobs and responsibilities whenever and whatever we

Post–Event Assignment
After the meaningful event, I was enlightened and inspired by the new trend in the pharmacy world,
that is the high expectations to assure the pharmacists competency after they successfully pass the
NAPLEX and be licensed.
In my point of view, the most interesting part for me is the division in pharmacists' role, in other
words, the development of pharmacy specialties. To be specific, it is important and essential for the
pharmacy board to give the certification to the pharmacists who have special and unique skills and
knowledge in one or several areas in pharmacy, including pharmacotherapy and ambulatory care
pharmacy. We all know that it is difficult for one pharmacist to master everything in medications

From what I learned from the website of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, till now there
are eight specialty areas of pharmacy, including ambulatory care pharmacy, critical care pharmacy,
nuclear pharmacy, nutrition support pharmacy, oncology pharmacy, pediatric pharmacy,
pharmacotherapy, psychiatric pharmacy. Additionally, the number of board–certified specialty
pharmacists is increasing each year. I think this popular trend is developing all the time, and I have
the confidence to believe at the time when we graduate, three and a half years later, the pharmacy
specialty would include more categories, which suit the demand in outstanding pharmacy service.
Apart from the official website, I found out the related paper Qualifications of pharmacists who
provide direct patient care: perspectives on the need of residency training and board certification. In
this article which published in 2013, it demonstrated the importance of systemic training and for
pharmacists who have the desire and interest in special areas in pharmacy. It also illustrated that the
certified specialty pharmacists could engage in the direct patient care with other healthcare
providers.
What is more, I would like to compare the specialty pharmacists in China and the United States.
About one year ago, I interned in a famous hospital in Nanjing, the Drum Tower Hospital. In the
pharmacy department, the division of clinical is two areas, cardiovascular care pharmacy as well as
nutrition pharmacy. The further development and training for clinical pharmacists in China are just
at the beginning stage, it needs huge change and revolution. Also, the public's awareness towards
clinical pharmacists should be increased by education and

Looking into medical careers that interested me, there were many jobs that involve blood or needles

How A Community Pharmacy Is Provide Patients With A Safe...
I. Introduction The purpose of a community pharmacy is to provide patients with a safe and
trustworthy environment to pick up their monthly prescriptions. The typical process involves
patients seeing their doctors, being diagnosed with a health condition, and being prescribed
medications to treat these health conditions. Patients are then expected to bring their prescriptions to
their pharmacy to get them filled and proceed to get the medications refilled on a monthly basis. The
challenging aspect of this process is that most patients are not on just one medication to treat their
conditions. Rather, most patients are usually taking multiple medications to treat their chronic health
conditions.3 A typical community pharmacy is in charge of providing patients with their monthly
medications, but there is so much more to what a community pharmacy does.
The pharmacy staff answers phone calls, contacts physicians for refill authorizations or prescription
discrepancies, contacts insurances companies to resolve coverage issues, counsels patients on new
or refilled prescriptions, among many other things. While this model has been around for many,
many years, it is wildly inefficient.
Patients with multiple prescriptions call the pharmacy multiple times per month, which leads to
repetitions of the process described above. This leads to a number of unknowns and the pharmacy
staff is bombarded with multiple hurdles to overcome and most importantly, the workload is

An employer is vicariously liable for the negligent acts or omissions his employee commits during

Health Care And The Medical Industry
As the medical industry grows, new jobs form, however, pharmaceuticals continues to play a major
role in health care. Moreover, "pharmacists are assuming increasingly critical roles in modern health
care teams, providing direct patient care and advocacy" ("A Brief History of Pharmacy," 2016). To
begin with, pharmacists are the medical workers who dispense prescription and medication to
patients and have special knowledge of the use, composition, and effects of the medication they
give. Pharmacists must be able to provide safe and efficient medication, offer advice, and provide
accurate prescriptions for all their patients. There are many types of pharmacists like "clinical,
community, and consulting pharmacists" ("What Pharmacists Do," 2015). In addition, although
additional exams may be needed for the transfer of licensure depending on which state one goes to,
pharmacists are employed in every part of the United States. Furthermore, pharmacists can work in
pharmacies that are in the grocery or drugstore, the clinic or hospitals, or they could work for the
government. Pharmacists are important members of the health care team by ensuring the patient take
proper medication and avoid harmful drug interaction. However, before they could start working
and aiding others, students pursuing a career in pharmaceuticals must first go through at least six
years of school and graduate as a Doctor of Pharmacy. Then the graduated student must pass two
exams, a licensure, and a law exam

Career As A Pharmacy Technician
Many years ago when I first decided to pursue a career as a Pharmacy Technician, I always believed
that I would be working in a retail pharmacy chain such as CVS or Duane Reade. As a CVS
customer, I would see the Pharmacist and Technicians working diligently behind the counter. I told
myself I want to do that, I wanted to help people take away their pain and begin the healing process.
My career started and I was typing and filling prescriptions for 8 hours with the occasional break to
help a customer find something within the store. I never considered working in a hospital Pharmacy
because I never experienced what that was like first hand. After working a year at CVS, I was
eligible to take the PCTB exam to become a certified Pharmacy technician (CPhT). While studying
the material there was another side of Pharmacy that I never knew about. I learned about hospital
Pharmacy, it has the same day to day operation that retail does but more. Having a degree in
Chemistry from SUNY Stony Brook University, labs were a big part of my education. The idea of a
cleanroom and compounding medication excited me; the closest to compounding in retail was
reconstituting antibiotic medication for children. This involved measuring and mixing water into a
bottle. I left retail and searched for a job that would further advance my pharmacy knowledge. I
started working at NYULMC Pharmacy, here I was exposed to information technology that was far
more sophisticated compared to retail. As I

I. Introduction
A typical pharmacy model includes patients bringing in a new prescription or calling the pharmacy
if and when they remember to get their prescriptions refilled. The pharmacy staff answers phone
calls, contact physicians, waits an unspecified amount of time before the physicians' offices call
back, and then the prescription order is filled. The expectation is then that the patient arrives at the
pharmacy to pick up his medications. While this model has been around for many, many years, it is
wildly inefficient. Patients with multiple prescriptions call the pharmacy multiple times per month,
which leads to multiple repetitions of the process described above. This leads to a number of
unknowns and the pharmacy staff is bombarded with multiple hurdles to overcome and most
importantly, the workload is significantly increased. There is a lack of ability to track patients with
chronic disease states and multiple medications.2 Furthermore, adherence rates are not tracked due
to lack of time, and health outcomes are less than optimal.3,4 This prompts one to ponder – what
can be done differently to help free up the workflow while promoting medication adherence?

Systems that are obsolete can have more risk of being hacked than systems that are more up to date

the revenue cycle of MSMC.Continuing to operate this system for the next two years is an
extremely risky decision. The missing patients from the pharmacy could be tied to this obsolete
system as the database is described as rudimentary and is connected to the Master Patient Index.

pharmacy system? The problems with the CCU stop and start orders may also be tied to this system

The Development of the Science of Pharmacy
Pharmacy which is also known as an independent science was dated to go way back to the 19th
century. In the pre–history of pharmacy, Paleopharmacological was the study used on medicinal
plants. As far as the earliest medicine that was used to help people was commonly used as an
alternative medicine, which was called Sushruta Samhita. It came from an Indian Ayurvedic treatise
that was known as a system of traditional medicine that was native to India. This alternative
medicine was dated to be used in the 6th century BC. For a long time India was considered to be the
place of great medicine along with patient care. After India's discovery of medicine is Egypt who's
earliest known of recorded medicine was found around 1875 by a man named George Ebers. The
written medicine remedies were dated to have been there since 1500 B.C. and had over 800
remedies.
As for other regions such as Mesopotamia, China and Greece their discovery of medicine wasn't that
far down. In Mesopotamia 2600 B.C. was their recorded date of medicine practice. The practice of
medicine was found in a city called Babylonia. From there was their growth of knowledge of
medicine and science. China's discovery of dated medicine was found around 2000 B.C. but, with
the Chinese they believed that herbs were and still is the main cure for any disease that one might
have. The first known herbal remedy writtings was called Pen T'sao and was said to have been

  • 3. Pharmacist Accomplishments Last week, I had the privilege of listening to Dr. Phil Schneider, the director of pharmacy at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Dr. Schneider's lecture reemphasized the need for students to consider residency programs after graduating from the Doctor of Pharmacy program (PharmD). As a third year pharmacy student, I have heard so much about how residency could make me an outstanding pharmacist, but never took it seriously. However, hearing it directly from a director of pharmacy that residency will get me the job, promotion and networking opportunities after graduation has rekindled my interest in doing residency. Since the inception of my pharmacy program, I have never given doing a residency program the consideration I have given ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Schneider spoke about how he succeeded his boss after she left for another job offer because his employers considered him better trained and equipped for the job as a result of doing a residency. For a pharmacist who just started working without any prior residency training, the confidence to serve at a higher level would have been missing. It is certain that residency will give me the experience to be well–rounded in my profession and also confer the confidence I need to take on more challenging roles in life. Another way residency can help me as a pharmacist is in the aspect of building a strong networking team. As a resident, I will have the opportunity to work with numerous people from different backgrounds where knowledge transfer can take place. This will help me learn new skills, new ideas, and also gain meaningful experience from other senior colleagues. There would be times I need advice in making a therapeutic decision and knowing someone to call could make a huge difference. In conclusion, doing a residency program after graduation is such a great way to be an outstanding and successful pharmacist in life. Residency will not only get me a dream job, but it can also help me gain accelerated promotion in my work place and build a strong networking foundation as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Why Pharmacy Is The Benefits And Risks All four of my grandparents grew up in China, in a small culture where "foreign" medicine, meaning medication and surgery, was not deemed acceptable or healthy for the human body. Invasive procedures and drugs were considered unnatural and looked down upon. However, a new age of scientific technology and knowledge has come around and when my paternal grandmother refused an eye surgery, she went partially blind until she agreed to go through with the surgery and take the medications she was assigned after. Although prescriptions are now engineered to be of the least minimal risk, the stubbornness of my grandmother has inspired me to join the pharmaceutical field, in hopes of making medication and prescriptions as safe and risk–free as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This consultative aspect of pharmacy is what interests me the most. There are different kinds of pharmacists, but these are the general ones: community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, consultant pharmacists and pharmaceutical industry pharmacists. Community pharmacists "work in retail stores such as chain drug stores or independently owned pharmacies" (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics), such as Rite–Aid or Target. They are the pharmacies that provide over–the–counter medications and often give out free flu shots. Clinical pharmacists are those who give pharmaceutical advice to those in hospitals and clinics. However, they spend "less time prescribing medication" (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) and are more "involved in direct patient care" (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). As well as recommending drugs, they actually oversee the dosage and timing of the medication in the hospital. In the field of pharmacy, clinical pharmacists have duties more similar to those of physicians than community pharmacists, whom act as a modern–day apothecary. Consultant pharmacists "provide expert advice on the use of medications by individuals or within institutions, or on the provision of pharmacy services to institutions" (American Society of Consultant Pharmacists). Rather than prescribing medications or the hands–on surveillance of drugs, consultant pharmacists are just that – consults of medication. Consultant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Practicum Essay Examples "Let's create an AIDS/HIV–free generation", which is not only a slogan that was proposed by President Obama but also a goal that I would like to achieve on my future career path. My practicum project at the Department of Health and Human Services was to generate dataset of new AIDS/HIV cases in Houston/Harris area required by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and then to use ArcGIS software to make a map describing the new diagnosed in Houston area. The final products can be spatially lined to other sources to enhance understanding of social determinants of health affecting populations impacted by HIV. This practicum experience let me realize that AIDS spreads so quickly is because most people have insufficient knowledge or misconception about the disease and prevention. Becoming a pharmacist to provide prevention service and educate people to improve their health and wellbeing is how I want to reach the goal of creating an AIDS/HIV–free generation. Before I came to the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, I planned to pursue my Ph.D. degree in pharmacology after I graduated from China Pharmaceutical University. The truth was that I got both offers from Doctor of Pharmacy program here and Ph.D. in pharmacology in other medical schools. After comparing and considering for a very long period of time, finally, I made the decision to go here and attend the Pharm.D. program. However, although I am a professional student in pharmacy now, I will never lose my passion and interest in clinical pharmacology research. I am seeking any valuable chance to get involved in the research within my four years pharmacy school. In my point of view, everyone who comes to the pharmacy school is different with a unique background in the beginning, but after the four years pharmacy school growth and study, everyone masters the skills and knowledge to become a verified pharmacist, and everyone is similar in the end. My choice for selecting a career in pharmacy is truly based on my natural flair towards science. The desire to study medical sciences prompted me to consider the study of pharmaceutical sciences as I was always adept at the conceptual understanding of science and the scope of what science has to offer to the world simply enticed me. Every pharmacy student need to give their best effort in the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree course to graduate and become a pharmacist. If some students just graduated but there is no place for pre– registration training, it would be very devastating considering on how much effort they had put to graduate. The entry of first year MPharm students have increased over the year from 1672 students in 1997 to 2978 students in 2006 followed by 3744 students in 2010.1 If we compare the number of first year students between 1997 and 2010, we can notice that there is about 124% increase in number. Most of the 1997 first year students graduated in 2001 while 2006 first year students graduated on 2010. This had been followed with the increase in the MPharm graduates from 2001 which has 1302 graduates to 2809 graduates in 2010.1 From 2007 to 2010, there is about 10% increase in number of MPharm graduates every year.1 There is about 152% increase in pharmacy students from year 1999 which had about 4200 students to 10599 students in 2011.1 In order to become a fully qualified pharmacists, the MPharm graduates should complete the pre– registration training. Many colleges have six year pharmacy programs. I hope to be able to make it into a college program at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. I believe that pharmacy is a good stable job that will have go under constant growth in the future. As a pharmacist one would need to have analytical, computer, communication, and management skills. A pharmacist will need to analyze the needs of the patients and find the safe medication they need. They also use computers to find (EHRs) Electronic Health Records for the patients. The pharmacist will need to be able to talk to the patient and offer advise for their medications. They will need to be able to manage inventory and staff that work for them. To become a pharmacist one will need to go through some sort of post high school Pharm–D program. These programs are usually 6 or 7 years. For one, I have three cousins who has a career in the medical field and are very successful right now. Another reason is because of my aunt and uncle. They have made me realize that being either a doctor or pharmacist is a very good career to pursue because I can be a role model to their kids and that would want them to pursue a similar career. Basically I've been convinced to go for a career in the medical field throughout my whole life. I'm also in medical classes at school, so I already have plentiful knowledge of medical careers and I would be at a disadvantage if I do decide to my career path. In the future I hope to go to Texas A&M. I've visited the campus many times and I've been on campus tours learning about the history and traditions of the school. • 41. Taking a Look at Pharmacists Pharmacy is an essential part of modern day health care. Pharmacists today are well trained, highly skilled and easily accessible to the public. However, pharmacy was not always as convenient and advanced as it currently is today. Since the times of prehistoric man, pharmacy has evolved greatly over the years and has become a safer, more efficient and more important part of society. There are still many opinions about pharmacy's origin because many theories are based on logic and analogies rather than concrete evidence. Much is known about prehistoric diseases due to the damage of people's bodies found by archaeologists in ancient bones. However, finding evidence of early man trying to use natural resources as medicinal drugs is scarce. Prehistoric man viewed the causes of diseases as wraths from supernatural or spiritual beings. This caused our ancient ancestors to practice a type of "magic" which used plants and often objects for rituals to make peace with evil and disease–causing spirits ( Kremers, 3). The ancient people learned many things from instinct. Things like water, an herb or mud were most likely man's first soothing applications. Trial and error helped man learn which substances brought the best results and shared them with other people. The advanced profession of pharmacy most likely evolved from simple and crude methods used by our ancient ancestors (A History 1). • 49. How A Community Pharmacy Is Provide Patients With A Safe... I. Introduction The purpose of a community pharmacy is to provide patients with a safe and trustworthy environment to pick up their monthly prescriptions. The typical process involves patients seeing their doctors, being diagnosed with a health condition, and being prescribed medications to treat these health conditions. Patients are then expected to bring their prescriptions to their pharmacy to get them filled and proceed to get the medications refilled on a monthly basis. The challenging aspect of this process is that most patients are not on just one medication to treat their conditions. Rather, most patients are usually taking multiple medications to treat their chronic health conditions.3 A typical community pharmacy is in charge of providing patients with their monthly medications, but there is so much more to what a community pharmacy does. The pharmacy staff answers phone calls, contacts physicians for refill authorizations or prescription discrepancies, contacts insurances companies to resolve coverage issues, counsels patients on new or refilled prescriptions, among many other things. While this model has been around for many, many years, it is wildly inefficient. Patients with multiple prescriptions call the pharmacy multiple times per month, which leads to repetitions of the process described above. This leads to a number of unknowns and the pharmacy staff is bombarded with multiple hurdles to overcome and most importantly, the workload is significantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, "pharmacists are assuming increasingly critical roles in modern health care teams, providing direct patient care and advocacy" ("A Brief History of Pharmacy," 2016).
