  2. 2. ● The generally congested conditions prevalent in Philippine Jails for the past 5 years or so is being blamed for the fast spread of infectious diseases among the PDLs. ● For a variety of reasons, prisons are high-risk environments for the spread of these diseases. Rationale
  3. 3. ● Due to unavailability of space in jails, PDLs found to be infected with emerging diseases are separated from the rest of the PDLs and are place in empty detention cells that are not designed for patients. ● Most often, there are no nurses or health care workers available to tend to the sick or unwell.
  4. 4. ● This study aims to assess the need for isolation center for emerging diseases inside Cagayan De Oro City Jail Male Dormitory. Statement of the Problem

What is the current status or profile of Cagayan De Oro City Jail Male Dormitory in terms of the ff. 1.1 Physical Structure Jail Building 1.2 Qualified personnel handling key positions 1.3 Years in operation 1.4 Objectives of Jail vision or policies 1.5 Decongestion Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:
  6. 6. 2. What is the level of awareness of the jail officers in performing their duties about the health status of the PDLs? (Level of awareness: VMA/ Aware / Less Aware/ Not Aware) 2.1 Space congestion/ Living Capacity 2.2 Water sufficiency 2.3 Supply of medicine and other health services
  7. 7. 3. What is the significant difference between the two groups' responses to the observed level of awareness of jail personnel? 4. What are the most common diseases in that jail that affect the PDL's health as perceived by the jail personnel and the PDLs? 5. What corrective measures or actions should the jail administration take? 6. Based on the study's findings, what strategic plan for health protection can be proposed?
  8. 8. ● This study will employ a cross-sectional descriptive research design, in which data will be collected from the Jail Personnel and from the PDLs at a single point in time. Research Design
  9. 9. The Respondents of the Study will be the Jail Personnel and PDLs of CDO City Jail Male Dormitory. The Respondents
  10. 10. ● This study will be undertaken in CDO City Jail, Male Dormitory. Locale of the Study
  11. 11. ● A researcher-made questionnaire will be used. It will be designed and patterned after the statement of the problem to provide cohesion with the study’s goal. ● Instrument will be of two parts. Part 1 will be for the Demographic Data of the respondents and Part 2 will be for the information proper. ● The questionnaire will first be pilot-tested to jail personnel and PDLs outside of CDO CJ MD to test for its validity and reliability.
