### 3.1 (8th)

1. 1. 3.1 Solve One –Step Equations
2. 2. Vocabulary:inverse operation: two operations that undo each other.equivalent equation: equations with the same solution.reciprocal:
3. 3. Properties: (page 125) Addition Property of Equality: If the same number is added to both sides of an equation, the two sides remain equal. Subtraction Property of Equality: States that when both sides of an equation have the same number subtracted from them, the remaining expressions are still equal.
4. 4. Properties (cont.) Multiplication Property of Equality: The two sides of an equation remain equal if they are multiplied by the same number. Division Property of Equality: Division Property of Equality states that dividing both sides of an equation by a non-zero number doesnt affect the equation.
5. 5. Example 1:x+5=3 x + 2 = 17
6. 6. Example 2:x–7=3 x – 12 = 3
7. 7. Example 3:-6x = 48 -65 = -5y
8. 8. Example 4:5 − w =10 12 = 3 m6 4
