5th West & Central Africa | Mining Summit 2012

                                                           WELCOME MESSAGE

Welcome Delegates, Speakers, Exhibitors & all Participants

We are excited to welcome you to the 5th West & Central Africa
             Mining Summit.

The West & Central Africa region is mineral rich. The region, especially West
Africa, is attracting the attention of all majors & the Chinese. Diversified
mining companies are attracted by the potentially large deposits of high grade
minerals like gold, diamond, manganese, bauxite, uranium, phosphate, nickel,
chromium, amongst many other minerals as well as the low processing
costs. It is an area with investment opportunities not only in the field of
mineral exploration & mining but also engineering support industries and downstream
mining sector infrastructure development.

This Summit has become an important & productive platform for the global mining
operators, exploration companies and service providers to get a first-hand understanding
of the mining potential and challenges in West & Central Africa.

The mining sector is not immune to the economic uncertainty that we have seen in recent
months. Prices of minerals are easing from their peak. This is a timely platform for all
stakeholders to address these market concerns and build greater sustainability for the industry.

We anticipate that this Summit will provide you with new information and foster business
partnerships as it brings an impressive range of professionals from more than 20
countries together. It promises to be an exciting platform for mining professionals to share
information and work towards the development & sustainability of the mining industry in
West and Central Africa.

I like to express our appreciation to the Ministry of Lands & Natural Resources of the
Republic of Ghana, the Minerals Commission & the Ghana Chamber of Mines for their
continued support of this Summit.

We are very pleased to receive the support of the Botswana Chamber of Mines, the
Geological Society of Africa, the Ghana Institution of Engineers and the Liberia
Chamber of Commerce for the Summit initiatives.

I also like to express our heartfelt thanks to our faculty of top speakers, sponsors,
exhibitors & partners.

We at Magenta Global will continue to serve the industry, driving economic growth &
delivering jobs across the West & Central African countries, by promoting a greater
understanding of the challenges & opportunities in mineral exploration, processing & trade
through thought provoking & informative Summits and networking sessions.

I wish all of you a rewarding Summit & trade show.

Sincerely,

 WELCOME MESSAGE

                                Dear Delegates,
I am pleased to welcome you back to the 5th West & Central Africa
Mining Summit in Accra. The Minerals Commission is happy to endorse
                                this important Summit.

Ghana is an important player in the mining world, not only in West
Africa, but also Africa-wide. While still a major gold producing
country, the country’s production of bauxite, diamond, manganese
and other minerals are being promoted in our diversification drive.
The Ghana government, under the leadership of H.E. President John Dramani
Mahama, works closely with all key players in the mining sector within a win-win
framework to ensure its sustainable growth and contribution to the economy.

We commend Magenta Global for again bringing top mining investors, companies,
technology and equipment experts together here in Accra, to discuss current
challenges and opportunities facing the world’s mining industry.

To participants, we say thank you for your interest, support and involvement in this
enterprise by which we hope the contribution of mining to sustainable development
would be enhanced. We wish you a very fruitful summit.

                  Yours sincerely,
                  Benjamin Aryee
                  CEO

                                                      WELCOME MESSAGE

The Geological Society of Africa (GSAf) which was established in 1973
to encourage geoscientific collaboration and cooperation across the
continent has signed an agreement with the Ethiopian Government in
June 2012 and is accredited as an International NGO with its permanent
            office in Addis Ababa.

Its main objectives are:1) to promote understanding of the earth sciences
             and improve standards of earth science education and research in Africa;
             2) to provide a forum for discussion and dissemination of information
across national boundaries between scientists, associations and institutions engaged
in African geology and earth resources; 3) to promote the development and sustainable
management of the continent’s earth resources, to advance its socio-economic
development; and 4) to improve natural hazards assessment and disaster mitigation.

In order to achieve its objectives, it has an active website, monthly online newsletter,
organizes bi-annual colloquium of African Geology, supports national and continental
geological meetings, conferences in the continent.

We started to be a supporting partner to the West & Central Africa Mining Summit
which is being organized in Accra Ghana starting in 2011. Our Council members
which included Dr. Gbenga Okunlola (GSAf Vice President for the Western African
Region, from Nigeria); Prof. Daniel Asiedu (Councilor of the GSAf, Western African
Region from Ghana); and one of the keynote speakers at the meeting, Dr.Gaetan
Moloto (Councilor of the GSAf, Central African Region; from the Republic of Central
Africa) represented our society at this prestigious meeting. The Geological society
of Africa considers the sustainable development of the continent to be directly
connected to its enormous known and unknown energy and mineral resources.
Such a conference is the place where scientists, policy makers and investors meet
and exchange ideas. The Geological Society of Africa appeals to all participants to
develop the human capacity in the Earth Sciences in Africa in order to be able to
have a lasting and environmentally sustainable development of these resources for
the benefit of all concerned. I welcome you to the 5th West & Central Africa Mining
Summit 2012, and hope your deliberations will have an important development
impact for the continent of Africa and world-wide.

Prof. Aberra Mogessie
President
Geological Society of Africa

 WELCOME MESSAGE

On behalf of the Council, the entire Membership and on my own behalf
as the President of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE) I welcome
all delegates, sponsors and exhibitors to the 5th West and Central Africa
                                Mining Summit 2012.

The GhIE exists to promote the science and practice of engineering in
Ghana and has always been a partner to the summit. The Institution
acknowledges the important role that mining plays in the economy
of Ghana and those of many other countries in Africa. Therefore the
institution is proud to be a supporter and promoter of the mining industry through
its certification function aimed at ensuring the availability of high quality engineering
capacity for the mining sector in the country.

The GhIE is happy that the 5th West and Central African Mining Summit 2012
provides a platform for mining companies, investors and government officials to
explore new possibilities within the mining sector. It is our hope that the exchanges
and networking, will not only further promote the mining sector’s contribution to the
economies of the West and Central African Countries but also lead to sustainable
exploitation of the mineral wealth of the participating countries. Once again we wish
you all a fruitful 2012 Mining Summit.
