San Salvador Packing Project

 1. 1. What do you take on a Bahamian Reef Survey Expedition ? … when there is so much you can choose from ?
 2. 2. Check out these two quick videos. What do you see that you would take? What do you see that you think I should take ? I don’t think I can get the kayak on the plane.
 3. 3. Take another look and then read the Earthwatch packing suggestions
 4. 4.

Essential Items

This Expedition Briefing

Photocopies of your passport, flight itinerary and credit cards in case the originals are lost or stolen; the

copies should be packed separately from the original documents

Passport and/or visa (if necessary)

Certification of inoculation (if necessary)

Required Items

Clothing/Footwear

1-2 pairs of lightweight, quick drying pants [ ]2 pairs of shorts

1 long-sleeved shirt [ ]6 t-shirts

Sweatshirt or fleece for colder nights [ ]1 hat

1 set of lightweight raingear [ ]1 pair of sandals

2 swimsuits [ ]Socks, undergarments, etc.

Field Supplies

Note: Every volunteer must bring personal snorkel gear. 5. 5. Which Hat ? What is that ? Flashlight / TV ? So many decisions…
 6. 6. Which Mask ? Which Fins ?
 7. 7. Don’t forget you have to have : Computer equipment, Cameras, Batteries, Cords and cables to communicate back home. Where does it all go ?
 8. 8. Its hard to leave best friends behind. Everyone wants to go along, but....
 9. 9. Besides, you only get two bags and it all has to weigh less than 40 pounds
 10. 10. What would you take ? Make your own list. What are the three most important things you would need ? What would you most like to take? I’ll show you my final list once I arrive on the island. We’ll compare.
