Q2. How does you media product represent particular social groups?
My media product was aimed at the ages between 16-19 year olds which come under the older
teenage/young adult audience meaning that my magazine needed to reflect this group of people. I
did some research into what my target audience wanted in a magazine and most of the research
came back that they would like bright colours fun text and lots of images, so this is what I tried to
achieve when creating my magazine. The people at my sixth form are fun, young and sociable people
which means that colour and bright images were key when creating my magazine. I chose images
that reflect them by even including some of the students from my sixth form to model; they enjoyed
doing this and was excited to see the finished product.
Q4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
I think the people who would be most likely to want to read my magazine is both male and female
students between the age of 16-19 years old who enjoy reading about the latest posts at sixth form
but also the social side of being at sixth form such as fun events and the latest gossip, which I think
creates a wide target audience. I think my magazine grabs this target audience by having a good
colour scheme, which looks formal and professional for the older target audience and also lots of
images which I gathered from my research into my target audience they enjoyed. To ensure that my
work attracted my target audience I made sure throughout the construction of my magazine I
showed fellow students copies of it to get feedback on how I could maybe make it more relevant.
Most of the feedback I got was good and they felt they would enjoy reading the magazine.
