  3. 3. Barcelona The catalan musican palace is situated in Barcelona. Barcelona is the capital of Calonia and Catalonia is situate in the nord-east of Spain.
  4. 4. Catalonia <ul><li>The capital city is Barcelona. Catalonia is divided into, four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. </li></ul><ul><li>The oficial language is the Càtala, the Occita and the Aranes. </li></ul><ul><li>Catalonia is tha most important autonnome community in the industry sector in Spain. </li></ul><ul><li>The police of Catalonia are Mossos D’esquadra and in the rest of Spain we can find Guardia Civil. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Barcelona Barcelona was funded the VII S. BC In 1992 had the Olimpics Games. Now a day Barcelona has 1.615.908 habitants, is the most poblated city of Spain. In Barcelona we can find one of the best team of football: Futbol club Barcelona
  6. 6. Lluís Domènech i Montaner <ul><li>Lluís Domènech i Montaner (Barcelona, December 21, 1850 - Barcelona, December 27, 1923) was a Spanish Catalan architect who was highly influential on Modernisme català, the Catalan Art Nouveau / Jugendstil movement. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Lluís Domènech i Montaner His most famous buildings are the Hospital de Sant Pau and Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, both of then are UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  8. 8. THE MODERNISM MOVEMENT <ul><li>The modernism movement replaced the romanticism movement, as the new one wanted to make a change in all the fields. In Catalonia, it was a mixture of the gothic and the new materials and techniques. </li></ul>
  9. 9. EL PALAU DE LA MÚSICA CATALANA <ul><li>El Palau de la Música Catalana was built between 1905 and 1908, in Barcelona by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. It’s considering one of the most important masterpieces of the modernism movement, in Europe and especially in our country. </li></ul><ul><li>We can find it in the Sant Pere neighborhood . </li></ul>
  10. 10. MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS <ul><li>The outside decoration of the Palace has a big relation with the Catalan History, and it culture. For example, the sculpture of the facade represents St.Jordi, la Balangera and the popular Catalan music. </li></ul>
  11. 11. MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS <ul><li>The inside decoration is divided in modern and tradition things. On the right of the stage we can find Beethoven and on the left we have Anselm Clavé. Both were created by Gargalló. </li></ul>

MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS <ul><li>The left wall is made of cristal, this let the natural light enter inside the building. </li></ul><ul><li>At the first, guests entered the Palau from the street through two arches supported by thick pillars that opened into the vestibule. The former ticket windows, which are located in the center pillar, are beautiful concentric arches adorned with floral mosaics of various materials created by Lluís Bru. </li></ul>
  13. 13. WHY IT WAS CREATED? <ul><li>This building was created for being the temple of the Catalan art and the palace of the Renaissance, as Domènech i Montaner said. But it became the seat of “l’Orfeó Català”. </li></ul><ul><li>At the beginning it was only for the rich people. Nowadays, is a concert hall, especially of classical music, where most of the catalan people goes just ones in his life. </li></ul>
