  2. 2. Search engine Google Search is the mostused search engine on the World Wide Web. receiving several hundred million queries each day through its various services. Interfaces offered in English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Guajarati, Malayalam, Kannada and Punjabi
  3. 3. History Of Google Larry Page and Sergey Brin Founder of Google

Zero to Zero In 1996 Larry and Sergey, begin collaborating on a search engine called BackRub.  registered as a domain name in 15th September 1997.  ”PC Magazine” reports that Google “has an uncanny knack for returning extremely relevant results” and recognizes us as the search engine of choice in the Top 100 Web Sites for 1998. “THE POWER OF GOOGLE IS ENPOWERMENT. ” Google – a play on the word “googol,” a mathematical term for the number represented by the numeral 1 followed by 100 zeros. The use of the term reflects their mission to organize a seemingly infinite amount of information on the web.

Google is headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Revenue of Google inc. comes on US$ 29.321 billion in 2010. 28,768 employees are working in the company

  7. 7. Google Basics Crawling: Does Google know about your site? Can we find it?  Indexing: Can Google index your site?  Serving: Does the site have good and useful content that is relevant to the user's search? 
  8. 8. Crawling????   Crawling is the process by which Googlebot discovers new and updated pages to be added to the Google index. Google use a huge set of computers to fetch (or "crawl") billions of pages on the web. The program that does the fetching is called Googlebot. Googlebot uses an algorithmic process: computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site.
  9. 9. Indexing????  Googlebot processes each of the pages it crawls in order to compile a massive index of all the words it sees and their location on each page. In addition, we process information included in key content tags and attributes, such as Title tags and ALT attributes. Googlebot can process many, but not all, content types.

  11. 11. Results????  When a user enters a query, our machines search the index for matching pages and return the results we believe are the most relevant to the user. Relevancy is determined by over 200 factors, one of which is the Page Rank for a given page.
  12. 12. More Stuff!!  Google's Related Searches, Did you mean, and Google Autocomplete features are designed to help users save time by displaying related terms, common misspellings, and popular queries.
