  3. 3. Norman Foster<br /> An English architect who attended Manchester University School of Architecture and Yale University. He received the Pritzer prize in 1999. Foster Associates is the name of his firm. The "High Tech" vocabulary of Foster Associates shows an uncompromising exploration of technological innovations and forms. <br />
  4. 4. International Style<br />This architectural style is mainly used for office buildings. Characteristics of this style may include:<br />rectilinear forms <br />plane surfaces <br />No ornamentation and decoration<br />open interior spaces<br />visually weightless <br />use of cantilever construction. <br />Glass and steel<br />
  5. 5. Hearst Tower<br />An international style building with a very complex design.<br />The building’s exposed structural members are laid diagonally to show complexity. Diagonal Grid construction.<br />

It is a mark of an enlightened client and a great city that the tower literally sparkles on the New York skyline today. It represents the realisation of William Randolph Hearst’s original plan for a tower in Manhattan and it has been a privilege to revive this dream with a sustainable new home for the Hearst Corporation.”<br />
