Cohen </li></ul><ul><li>The author uses real eyewitness accounts to tell his story and facts to the reader </li></ul><ul><li>He tells about peoples experiences giving specific detail </li></ul><ul><li>The accounts and stories told throughout the book are from people own testimonies </li></ul>

The Boxer Rebellion <ul><li>The uprising of The Boxer was a historical attempt of the Chinese secret society to rid foreigners, along with the traditions, values and other influences from the country of China </li></ul><ul><li>Did not approve of the Chinese Christian converts that existed </li></ul><ul><li>Many attacks against Chinese Christian buildings in and around the area of Bejing </li></ul>
  4. 4. 1900: The Drought <ul><li>The Drought caused the Boxers and missionaries to turn to religious explanation for what was occurring </li></ul><ul><li>The Boxers believed that that the drought was caused by angry gods because of the disrespect from the Christians in China </li></ul><ul><li>Believed the only way the drought will stop was when all religious influence was eliminated from their country </li></ul>
