  1. 1. The fact that steel comes in a wide range of thicknesses, sizes and weights can make steel cutting quite a challenge. Having the righttools for cutting of the various ranges of steel is important in orderto make this exercise as simple as possible. These tools range from ordinary saws that are common even within homes to huge industrial equipment that’s used in industries for steel cutting. There are many new steel cutting methods that have come up thanks to technology. Steel cutting methods include:
  2. 2. Shear Cutting - this steel cutting process involves the use of much more force than out does the strength of the steel in the process making it separate. A blade is thrust don onto a sheet of steel to make it cut the steel.Sawing - Steel cutting using a saw is just the same as cutting of wood using asaw. The only difference with the two is that the blade used in steel cutting isthinner with the teeth smaller. This means that the blade moves faster when cutting steel. In large industries, the saws used for cutting thick steel blocks depend on the machines size. The different steel cutting saws include band saws, circular saws and coping saws.
  3. 3. Flame Cuts - This steel cutting method involves the use of lamesfrom a welding torch which melt the steel, pushing it along theflame in the process cutting the steel. The equipment is made upof a nozzle that is connected to a hose that is plugged to a tankcontaining either oxygen or acetylene. The flames temperaturecan be adjusted depending on the thickness of the steel to be cut.Plasma Cuts - this is a steel cutting process that involves having aground cable clamped onto the steel metal. Air or gasses such asnitrogen and argon that is compressed will then be blown out ofthe plasma torchs nozzle which contains electrodes at a highspeed. By moving the nozzle closer to the steel metal will createan electrical arc frequency that will travel through the air that Icompressed in the processes heating it extremely. The air that iscompressed will turn to plasma that eventually cuts the steel.This steel cutting method is used within industries.
  4. 4. Water jet Cutting - Steel cutting using water jetmachines is done within industries that produce steelin mass. This method involves water flowing at a high force through a tiny pinhole at the end of a nozzle.Pressure may be up to 60,000 pounds per inch square. The steam will cut through steel easily as fine abrasives including garnet is added to the water. Laser Cutting - this steel cutting method involves the use of a laser beam that will melt the steel at the point which the cutting is done. This method is mostpreferred as it is accurate and precise and can be used to make cuttings that are complicated. With these methods, steel cutting is made easier than it was before therefor no stress any more when doing steel cutting.
