The Faculty of Agriculture is one of the
most distinguished agricultural
institutions in Egypt with over 100 years
in education, research, and extension
activities.
The Faculty played an important role in
education, and knowledge generation
carrying out research and other activities,
matriculating thousands of graduates
and postgraduates for Egypt, Arab,
African and other countries.
History
:
• In 1911, the faculty started as an Agricultural Secondary
School established in Moshtohor. Between 1942 and 1945
it was affiliated to the Cairo University as a branch for
1st and 2nd year students.
• 1n 1946, it turned again to the status of a Secondary
School of Agriculture.
• In 1957, it was changed to a High Institute of
Agriculture (affiliated to the Ministry of Higher
Education and equivalent to a University College);
beside the Agric. Sec. School.
Development of the College since its inception until now
• Specializations were General Agriculture and Agricultural
Extension with students of 2nd year spending one practical
training in the Federal Republic of Germany.
• In the early seventies of last century it was partly a
Polytechnic High Institute.
• From 1975, onwards, the Agricultural Branch of Cairo
Polytechnic High Institute was affiliated to Helwan
University as a Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
• In 1976, it was affiliated to Zagazig University, Benha Branch.
From 2005 onwards the Benha Branch became the
“University of Benha”.

• The preparation of specialists in various areas of

positive interaction between faculty and community,
locally and regionally to serve the agricultural sector.

Projects
• We have program to grant joint International
Master degree in field of Agricultural
Biotechnology in collaboration with five colleges
and accredited international universities in Egypt
and Europe.
• Project of “Production of purebred and crossbred
parents of rabbits to be distributed to the small
breeders in the middle and east of Delta”
financed by Spanish Agency of International Co-
operation (AECI ) and the Centre of Co-operation
for Development of the Universidad Politecnica
de Valencia.
• Project of "Sustainable production of rabbit meat
"Evaluation and genetic improvement of Spanish-
Egyptian rabbit lines" financed by AECI and
(CIHEAM).
• We have 9 competitive research projects financed
by Benha University for young researches.
• We have project financed by STDF.
• Project of agricultural biotechnology through
excellence in research labs (CEP2-BEN).
Projects
