When watching a hydraulic truck crane in action, it's hard to believe just how much weight it's moving because it deals with these multi-ton objects with relative ease. Hydraulic truck cranes vary in lifting power. It's easy to tell how much a particular hydraulic truck crane can lift just by the name of it: A 40-ton crane can lift 40 tons (80,000 lb or 36,287 kg).

HYDRAULIC MOBILE CRANE & TOWER CRANE
HYDRAULIC MOBILE CRANE • Basic Equipment • Some basic equipment on a hydraulic truck crane: – Boom - The large arm mainly responsible for lifting – Counterweights - Multi-ton weights placed on the back of the cab to prevent the crane from tipping during lifts – Two-gear pump - Hydraulic pump system that uses two rotating gears to pressurize oil – Jib - Lattice structure that extends out of the boom – Outriggers - Supports that keep the crane balanced – Rotex gear - Large gear under the cab that allows the boom to be rotated – Load Moment Indicator - Array of lights located in the cab just above the operators eye level; flashes if cranes lifting limits are reached
HYDRAULIC MOBILE CRANE • The large metal ball attached to the hook keeps the cable taut when there is no load on the hook.• The large metal ball attached to the hook keeps the cable taut when there is no load on the hook. • If the operator tries to lift a load too high, the Load Moment Indicator will light up.
HYDRAULIC MOBILE CRANE• The outriggers • The outriggers keep keep the crane the crane balanced during a lift. The inset balanced during a shows all outriggers lift. The inset extended shows all outriggers extended
TOWER CRANE • Parts : – Base – Slewing Unit • Jib / Working Arm • Machinery Arm and Counterweig ht • Operator Cab. – Mast / Tower
TOWER CRANE• The long horizontal jib (or • The shorter horizontal working arm), which is the portion of the crane that machinery arm, which carries the load. A trolley contains the cranes runs along the jib to move motors and electronics as the load in and out from the well as the large concrete cranes center counter weights
TOWER CRANE• The operators cab: • The machinery arm contains the motor that lifts the load, along with the control electronics that drive it and the cable drum, as shown above : • The motors that drive the slewing unit are located above the units large gear.
TOWER CRANE• Spesification : – Maximum unsupported height - 265 feet (80 meters) The crane can have a total height much greater than 265 feet if it is tied into the building as the building rises around the crane. – Maximum reach - 230 feet (70 meters) – Maximum lifting power - 19.8 tons (18 metric tons), 300 tonne-meters (metric ton = tonne) – Counterweights - 20 tons (16.3 metric tons)
TOWER CRANE• The first element of the tower cranes stability is a large concrete pad that the construction company pours several weeks before the crane arrives. This pad typically measures 30 feet by 30 feet by 4 feet (10 x 10 x 1.3 meters) and weighs 400,000 pounds (182,000 kg) -- these are the pad measurements for the crane shown here. Large anchor bolts embedded deep into this pad support the base of the crane. So they can’t fall over even without support of wire.
