This year’s theme is “Enabling Enterprise for Economic Inclusion of the Poor.” Senior officials of national agencies on rural development and poverty eradication will discuss policies and present models of enterprises that can play an important role in uplifting the lives of the poor. “We chose Bohol for the 11thASEAN-SOMRDPE because there are available local enterprises in the province that we can showcase,” says NAPC Undersecretary Patrocinio Jude Esguerra III, the Philippine representative to the meeting. A round of discussion with the ASEAN senior officials and official representatives from South Korea, Japan and China is scheduled during the three-day activity. The government officials will also hold a forum with representatives of non-governmental organizations from Southeast Asia. The meeting is in fulfillment of the Philippines’ commitment to the ASEAN.
