Android is the operating system created by google and is a part of the open handset alliance. Created so applications can be used on the mobile phone device as well as on the pc. The android currently has over 100,000 apps. Apple current operating system is known as ios4 deveoloped to work on apple devices such as ipad, iphone etc currently has over 300,000 apps.
Android was purchased by Google in 2005 this the main competitor to apples ios operating system. Different to apple Google android work alongside other mobile phone companies so their software can be accessed on other handsets aswell as the google phone. Android is available under a free software license.
Google created a new voice application (google voice) in 2010 which allows the user to search, write messages and make calls. One of the other apps created is (google goggles) which is a application which searches by using image. In 2006 bruce sterling suggested even though when he said it seeming like a long shot with the new technology apparent it may be possible in the very near future just by placing a chip or some form of tracking device on your keys. Other google applications include sky map for watching stars and map editor for their my maps service.
