  2. 2. Intro • Most Populous County in VT – 160,000 • 25% of the State’s population • Largest City – Burlington, VT – 42,000 • One of the healthiest counties in US
  3. 3. However, Opioid Fatalities Rising
  4. 4. • Governor made major issue in 2014 State of the State address • Mayor of Burlington pushed State for help • Formed CCOA: – Executive Committee: Mayor, Health Commissioner, Police Chief, University Medical Center COO, Mental Health CEO, United Way CEO, Regional Planning Commission ED Chittenden County Opioid Alliance - CCOA Nissan LEAF Chevy Volt
  5. 5. • Using Collective Impact Model • CCRPC ED serves on Executive Committee • Lead applicant for grants – State Agency of Human Services – United Way – University Medical Center • Hired staff, served as fiscal agent, provided data platform CCRPC Role Nissan LEAF Chevy Volt

  7. 7. • Reduced time on waitlist for Medicated Assisted Treatment from 2 years to zero. • New law tracking of the number of morphine equivalents prescribed. • Reduced the # of providers prescribing more than 50 opioids to any patient by 58%. • The # of prescriptions for more than 50 pills has decreased by 77% in the past 18 months • Achieved a 41% decrease in opioid prescriptions between 2013 and 2017, compared to a 29% reduction nationwide. • New law requiring DOC to provide MAT services to inmates effective July 1, 2018. • Recovery coaches in the Emergency Department began on August 1st.
