A balanced priority for future investment is necessary. The region overinvested in particularly industries in the past and have struggled to find balance following. In a balanced economy, one area can struggle while the others still support the overall economy. This organization was created to fill the creative economy segment of the overall market.
Recognizing the issues in Southwest, the commonwealth made the redevelopment of the region a priority. DHCD took the lead on bringing together regional partners to identify issues and chart a new course for the future economy. Regional partners collaborated and determined the best course of action for future investment priorities.
