Engaging Students and Fostering Community with Web 2.0 Hezal Patel and Elizabeth Cappelluti, Freshman Studies Mentors Mary Zedeck, Instructional Designer, TLT Center Introduction <ul><li>Engaging students, especially freshman, is not always easy! </li></ul><ul><li>A new plan was developed to reach all incoming students and foster a sense of community before students arrive on campus and during their first year at Seton Hall. </li></ul><ul><li>Freshman Studies blog was created. </li></ul><ul><li>Mentors posted pertinent information for students. </li></ul><ul><li>Podcast episodes were created with key information for students. including tips for first year success. </li></ul><ul><li>Students informed of blog through email and Class Community in Bb. </li></ul><ul><li>f </li></ul>Materials/Methods Challenges/Outcomes <ul><li>Few challenges in organizing and creating blog. </li></ul><ul><li>Faculty and administration enthusiastic to participate. </li></ul><ul><li>Some challenges in all mentors following through. </li></ul><ul><li>Blog continues to be active to post current information. </li></ul><ul><li>Formal assessment to be conducted at semester’s end. </li></ul><ul><li>The Result…Community </li></ul>
