• Why Fan Pages: Facebook calls it a “customizable presence” Pages are public – not private (unlike many profiles; you can only see my wall if you are a friend) You don’t have to “Like” my page to view it. Anyone can view – don’t have to be a Facebook user to view a Fan Page If you have a link on your website or in an article, people can go directly to your Fan Page When a person 'likes' a fan page, that connection is posted on their wall and then shown in the Home Page feed for others to see. Then friends of that person click on the page just connected with...and so the number of followers grows. (old terminology: become a fan) 4. Its easy to post a link to a fan page across other Facebook pages...putting the pages name in front of different groups of people. 5. A page is easier to manage and has less limitations & more options to customise & increase functionality than a group.
• They are created to: increase promotion attract supporters increase awareness interaction with customers and potential customers. 1. When a person 'likes' a fan page, that connection is posted on their wall and then shown in the Home Page feed for others to see. Then friends of that person click on the page just connected with...and so the number of followers grows. 2. You do not need to be a Facebook user to view a Fan Page. A person may follow a link from somewhere eg. a website and look you up on Facebook from anywhere in the world. 3. These pages are not private pages...so anyone can access the information on a particular page even if they haven't 'liked' it as such. (If you aren't sure what all this 'liking' is its Facebook's new way of 'becoming a fan' of a page. Where a person once became a 'fan' they now become a 'liker'). 4. Its easy to post a link to a fan page across other Facebook pages...putting the pages name in front of different groups of people. A page is easier to manage and has less limitations & more options to customise & increase functionality than a group. A page is run by 'admins' who can be changed when required, and allows those who've been added as an admin to make changes and post on the wall of the page & generally manage the page and its happenings.

• In summary To build your business you need to build a network that attracts targeted Customers to your business. You can do this a variety of ways. I strongly recommend that if you don’t have a website you start with WordPress Blog on your hosting – this is the fastest and least expensive way to develop your business. Next you want to make sure that you optimize your website for your primary and secondary keywords. Provide a ‘call to action’ which may be a free report, video, coupon, discount,, Whatever will help your ideal client to meet their wants. Start building content (this is where you use article directories like ezinearticles, you use photos, and videos, RSS feeds, other blogs to build backlinks and credibility) You use social media to bookmark your pages and content. Facebook, which we just covered, is a great way to develop your ‘brand’ and offer free content As well as interact with customers, potentials customers to build your credibility. Thanks for attending.
