Rich White Welfare Queens Analysis
America is known by being the land of freedom, and those who inhabit it love to point out how
much of that freedom they want to keep – mainly when it is about the government not telling them
how to spend their money. If taking away income taxes to pay welfare to poor people is always a big
debate in the land of Uncle Sam, some people believe it should sparkle even more revolt when that
money is being given to rich, very rich people. Touching that issue, the columnist Jon Caldara wrote
the article "Rich, White Welfare Queens" at the Denver Post Online two weeks ago. Caldara is a
well–known Coloradan libertarian, which can sound like a liberal in most of the world, but in the
US is nothing more than those individuals who believe that governments should never or almost
never interfere in the economy. Because of that background, he often beats ... Show more content on

Caldara purposely leaves aside almost all possible counter arguments. If he does talk about electric
cars actually helping the world in a general way, he does not bring any other arguments that people
in favor of both subsidies certainly have. For example, when we have movies and TV shows being
filmed in Colorado, wouldn't that somehow stimulate the local film industry, for example? The
author completely ignores any possible positive outcomes, but if his audience is in fact educated,
that artifice might be a shot on his own foot. At realizing how he leaves aside the regulation for that
government help, he makes the reader question how truthful he is being about everything else.
Maybe there's actually a lot of requirements both for electric cars drivers and filmmakers before
they can see any of the state money? Leaving the reader in the dark might work for a more general
audience, but that is not his traditional public; anyone with a minimal critical sense might skip his
arguments when the other side is not given any

The King Of The Queen
Once upon a time in a kingdom far away there lived a king and Queen who wanted a child of their
own. The next day there was a miracle, the Queen was going to have a baby but the Queen was too
ill to have the baby. The King was worried that his wife will pass so will the baby if he don 't do
something about it. The King ordered the maids to watch over his wife while he looked for a cure
for her illness in the kingdom. He got a group of soldiers that same day to find a cure for his wife to
get better. All the soldiers and himself went looking all over the kingdom for a special plant that can
heal anything or anyone. The King separated the soldiers and the king went riding his horse deep in
the forest where he found a garden in the forest and that garden had the most beautiful flower, the
flower glowed and brightened up the dark forest. The flower was a rapunzel flower the rapunzel
flower is so rare and it was found in a dark forest. It was like the flower was calling him over, the
king had a feeling he needed the flower. The flower was dug up from the ground and carefully he
wrapped the flower in his cape. Right when he was going on his horse he seen a woman that was
giving him the most evil look the woman was very young and beautiful and said "How dare you

A Community Assessment Highlights The Needs Of The Community
A community assessment highlights the needs of the community. The main purpose of this
assessment is to understand the reasons of occurrence of issues and implement methods to reduce
these issues that may rise from those needs. Understanding the conditions of environment in which
members of these community lives in, and how it impacts the members' lives is essential in
providing proper and effective care to their health. I will focus on Queens Community Board One
for this Windshield Assessment. I have chosen this community because for the past 20 years of my
life I have lived in both Long Island City and Astoria, which are two neighborhoods pertaining to

Throughout the community, there are many variations to the quality of infrastructure. There are a
lower percentage of homes in the community with maintenance defects, such as the presence of
mice and rats, inadequate heating and water leaks, compared to New York City. The quality of the
infrastructures in the five New York City Housing buildings, including Astoria, Queensbridge South
and North, Ravenswood and Woodside, are in fair conditions. Astoria and Queensbridge housing
buildings are near the East River. Ravenswood Housing Buildings are located in 21st between 34th
and 36th Avenue while the Woodside housing buildings are located at 49th street between 31st
Avenue and Broadway. These steep housing buildings are well maintained yet are still old. A few
residents of the Astoria housing reported constant issues with the elevator not working and
cockroaches appearing in their apartments. This can have negative health impacts, such as asthma,
that can be triggered by roaches. Archbishop Iakovos Senior Residence is a decade old residential
building for poor to moderate–income seniors. This housing offers meals, recreational programs and
transportation services for the elderly. It equipped with an elevator for seniors who may have a

Descriptive Essay About Jamaica
Jamaica is a neighborhood part of Queens. Queens is actually the most the most ethnically diverse
urban area in the world. And Jamaica is a very diverse place. Racially the statistics show the 50
percent majority are Blacks, while Hispanics and Whites make up 40 percent, and the other 10
percent being Asian and varying others. The varying cultures of these races and the different places
they all come from, make Jamaica a very diverse area.
For my ethnographic study, I went to the Jamaica Market and Food Court. It's a busy little place in
the middle of a busy town. It's an attractive place, colorful with all the stores having bright colors
for their names and bright neon lights, it's tall and in turn seems very spacious even though it's not
very large to walk in. It's also very inviting with all the smells of the different foods it has. There's a
television displaying the news, to occupy the minds of many people who just go there to eat and
leave in a hurry. A downside to this hub is that they don't provide Wi–Fi to the customers in it.
I went to this market on the Monday of November 27th. I went at approximately 3:00 in the
afternoon. The reason being, that during this time it's usually a busy area, and gets crowded,
especially with all the teenagers of the area, which held the majority of the people there. Also, the
loudest majority in the room, even having security come in and kick a lot of them out multiple
times. Everyone else there was just minding their business. The

Stories of People before Us
It was many years ago, long before your beloved parents or even their own. It was far past the time
when skyscrapers first began their grazing of the heavens, past even the taking advantage of devote
teachers. Further still, our story takes us. Much like many tales of this sort– there is perhaps little
truth weaved in all– that serve not as references for literal information but references for wisdom
and understanding. I do not profess that readers who study these tomes will come out any the wiser,
nor is it this tome's sole purpose. Some things in life do not require purpose nor plan, but moving
forward. Before our world, there was perhaps another. In it lived a single person, a woman perhaps,
who ruled over all the animals and plants. She, like most others, did not enjoy her solitude and
decided to design a people to accompany her. So thus, people came to be. Despite the people, she
had no joy. Those she had created were savage, greedy, and sinful. It displeased her. However, she
was merciful and could not bring herself to destroy them, so instead felt it necessary to guide them.
To assist her she created a new type of people, one who would embody all that she valued. These
people would be rulers and would rule over the other citizens. To form her new rulers she took four
traits, agápē (unconditional love), compassion, generosity, trustworthiness, and composed one
whom she would entrust with her people. Carefully she layered a combination of agápē–
trustworthiness

OFF, by Mortis Ghost
What truly makes a 'villain' to us? Is it the need to cause mayhem, a long, resounding evil laugh? Or
just someone whose values run in opposition to ours? Whatever the case may be, we perceive these
characters carefully, recognizing them almost instantly as forces to be reckoned with– That is, most
of the time. In the next few paragraphs I aim to explore why what the most frightening of villains
terrify us the most. Mortis Ghost's 'OFF', a french RPG from 2007, will be our setting for this
phenomenal antagonist. This indie game features a delightful soundtrack, strategic turn–based
combat, and an increasingly dark storyline. The adventure begins with you, the player, being
assigned to control a stoic hero known as 'The Batter'. If he expressed emotions, he would be
probably be indifferent to your being his puppeteer. Regardless, you and he proceed through a land
called Zone 0, entrusted by some unknown force with the task of 'purifying' the land. You encounter
a stray, eloquent and articulate cat calling itself 'The Judge'. It assists you in getting oriented in the
world, and guides you safety through the deserted landscape and to the cusp of the first inhabited
zone, Zone 1. It departs, promising to see you again. As you advance through Zones 1, 2, and 3, The
Batter continues to insist he is the savior of the world, sent to purify the evils within. The timid and
neurotic inhabitants known as 'Elsen' more or less welcome his presence, especially when tormented
by spectres

Starlyn's Attacks: A Narrative Fiction
Starlyn inspected the maroon dress her maids had chosen for her. This didn't seem real, one moment
she was at school, the next she was brought to a whole different realm.
It all happened so fast she hadn't even had time to really register what had actually happened. When
would they go home? What happened to the boys that were taken as well? Then it dawned on her,
when would she see her family again?
Starlyn tried not to think about these scary questions and instead admired the diamond belt on her
dress. The top was simple and had thin spaghetti straps. The dress was floor length and she wore
black heels. Her maids had made her jewelry black to match the amulet and asked no questions
about it.

She, gave into the darkness and turned on her friends. All of the magic princesses' were either evil,
or terrified of their own power to the point of suicide ever since. But none have ever been as
powerful as Anastasia, well, until now," the queen frowned.
"Until, now?" Starlyn questioned. The queen nodded.
"Too much power is dangerous, Starlyn. You must have control of your magic, not the other way
around. You are, more powerful than Anastasia. We IFians can sense something called magic
radiation. Magic radiation is how you can tell how powerful someone is. The further away you are,
the weaker the radiation should get, depending on how powerful they are. I could feel yours the
minute you all arrived, and you were nowhere near the castle," the queen's gaze hardened.
"Does that mean I'm dangerous too?" Starlyn whispered. I don't want to, no, I won't hurt my friends.
Starlyn vowed. The queen tilted her head to the side a bit, inspecting her.
"I don't know. We will find out, soon enough. But for now, let's keep this our little secret, for all they
know, there are only seven girls," the queen spoke carefully, still looking at Starlyn with a
thoughtful expression. This brought little relief to Starlyn's racing mind, and also made her a little
nervous. So, I'm not one of the

Creative Writing: Camira's Realms
Camira walked silently with the other girls along the corridor the queen was leading them down.
Camira studied the walls. The other corridor had paintings, whereas this one had maps. Lots of
maps.
She didn't think it was fair that Star couldn't be with them. After all, why was she here if she wasn't
like them? This could only mean that she was like them, so why couldn't she train with them? This
could only mean that she was like them, so why couldn't she train with them? Camira had a strange
feeling it had to do with whatever Starlyn and the queen had spoken about last night, but she had
already asked Star about it. She had just said that they "took a tour" of the castle.
"This way," the queen said curtly as she led them through wooden double doors with a gold knocker.

Ela was next, she looked at the rock with concentration and slowly brought her hands up. Ela's
magic seemed to already radiate off her, Camira could feel it. It was calming and peaceful, as if
Ela's very presence was what made peace itself. Weird how her magic does that, Camira thought,
filing the information away for later.
Ela's fingers twitched and green light sprouted from her fingertips, hitting the Dailiar rock
noiselessly. Her magic had an array of different shades of green, some dark, some bright. Then,
oddly, vines started to creep up the Dailiar rock, twisting around it and growing flowers. Ela brought
her hands down in surprise. The vines receded. "How did that happen?" Ela asked with a high
pitched confused tone. The queen shrugged, "You're the one who did it, you made it happen." Ela

The prince watched her carefully as he moved to sit in his chair beside the king. Conversation had

Her throat closes at the unimaginable possibility forming in her head. She's never been that lucky,

Overpopulation And Congestion In New York City
Traffic Doesn't Cause Congestion, People do
New York City has always had issues with overpopulation and congestion. As of July 2016, the U.S.
Census Bureau has estimated New York City's population at 8,537,673. That's an increase of
362,500 residents (or 4.4 percent) over the April 2010 decennial census count of 8,175,133. The city
has not witnessed such a robust pace of growth in over a half–century. And, as New York's
population continues to upsurge, so does its problems with overcrowding and congestion.
Neighborhoods, like South Jamaica, Queens, where I'm from, hasn't been omitted from the populace
boom that was once exclusive to the more appealing boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn and The
Bronx. When people migrated to the Big Apple from all over the world, they settled in the boroughs
closer to public transportation and burgeoning job markets. Jamaica, Queens wasn't considered the
ideal borough for families moving from the South to the north because throughout the 19th to early
20th centuries, Jamaica was mainly populated by whites as new Irish immigrants settled around the
places known today as Downtown and Baisley Pond Park. By the 1950s, however, in what was later
called "white flight", African–American families with middle incomes began to move in as white
families fled to Long Island. After the 1970s, as housing prices began to tumble, many Hispanic,
such as Salvadorans, Colombians, Dominicans, and West Indian immigrants, moved in. These
ethnic groups tended to stay

The Knight of Light
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a small kingdom that had a sky of the bluest
blue, and was surrounded by the greenest grass which was decorated by every flower you could
imagine.
Within this kingdom there was a village that was filled with happiness, and everyone who lived
there was always smiling, for they loved their little village. They loved the blue skies, they loved the
green grass that was decorated by every flower you could imagine, and they loved their kingdom.
But what the villagers loved most was their beautiful queen. She was a wonderful and benevolent

Alas, this was not the end of the Darkness 's scheme. Once it was done with the village it swept into

snatched her up in its giant claw and dragged her out of the bedchamber. It dragged her out of the
pure white castle, out of the village, and took her into the very depths of Hell themselves.
After the queen was taken, the blue skies turned cloudy and grey, the pure white castle became ugly,
and discoloured, and an eternal gloom settled upon the kingdom. From that moment on, none of the
villagers could smile, for with their glowing queen stolen from them, what reason was there to
smile?
Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, months turned into years and years turned into
centuries, and the kingdom remained the gloomy, grey ghost of the joy it had once celebrated. In
that time the queen did not return, and any fool who was brave enough to try and look for her never

But then one day, after exactly one hundred years had passed since the Darkness came, a stranger

The Dark Side Of The Snow Falls
While the snow falls behind the rusted bars, the King is laughing alone in the dungeon. His guffaws

the cold breeze turns into a gale, the King picks up the bottle with sickly sweet poison and pours
down into his throat. Once upon a time, there was a young man who could control temperatures of
anything with his mind, but he never revealed his secret to anyone in the village. He just wanted to

would go to the garden behind the village. Watching fields of baby's breath dance with the lead of
the cold breeze and waiting until every single of them is changing into orange grabs are the things
he like to do the most. He liked to stay in the garden rather than helping his grandparents' farm, but
he would always use his ability to secretly support the plantation. Day after day, the huge field of
crops grew better and better even with no one but two elderlies watching. In the beginning,

I Am A Master At Chess Essay
The black King slayed down the blue knight, which left the blue King the sole member of his army.
As the blue King retreated to the edge of the field, the black king trailed from behind. The black
king halted six feet from his foe. Neither advanced toward the other, for whoever stepped in the
space between them would be slayed down by the other. The Kings paced left and right down the
side of the board. This could have gone on for hours, but Dad and I knew that neither one of us
would move our king forward, so the chess game ended in a draw. Technically neither one of us
won, but I always counted draws as a win. My dad, who taught me how to play, was great at chess,
so it was near impossible for me to beat him. To be a master at chess you have to have a great
teacher– who is patient and skilled–, be able to strategize, and, most importantly, enjoy playing the
game. Oddly, I became interested in chess because of my interest in Checkers. Checkers was a
special game between my dad and me. I played Checkers only with my dad, and that became "our"
game. We would play wherever checkers was set up: at Cracker Barrel or on the open display at the
store. Oddly, we didn't have checkers at home. However, we did have something more interesting,
something my six–year–old self deeply admired.
While we did have a checker's board (an old, faded black and off–white square covered bored), the
pieces were unusual. I admired the pieces because they were unlike any plastic game

How Did Queen Have Influence The Influence On Queen And...
Queen and Freddie Mercury's Importance and Influence on Artists
Queen is an iconic rock band from the 70's whose influence transcends genres and continues to
inspire and affect artists to this day. There are three main reasons that Queen continues to be so
influential and well known, even decades after their peak has passed. The first and most obvious
reason is Queen's frontman, Freddie Mercury, and his amazing performances and extraordinary
vocal range. The next reason is Queen's accomplishments and the many awards they won during
their time. The final reason is their tendency to take risks, break the mold, and experiment. Many
well–known artists have been influenced by Queen due to these reasons. The fact that people

I also cited many reliable dictionaries such as Merriam–Webster's Dictionary, Oxford Dictionaries,
and Cambridge Dictionaries to define different key terms that appear throughout the paper.
Queen's music is still a significant part of today's pop culture. Their music continues to be played on
the radio regularly and also still makes appearances in TV shows, commercials, and movies, with a
recent example being the soundtrack of the film Baby Driver (2017). Two more examples of
Queen's songs appearing in film are the use of the the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the 1992 film
Wayne's World, and the use of the song "Don't Stop Me Now" in the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead.
"Don't Stop Me Now" has also recently made an appearance in commericals for the 2018 Toyota
Camry. The fact that Queen's music is still so popular to this day is a testament to their timelessness
and their talent. Most people have probably heard a Queen song at some point in their life, whether
it was on the radio or in a movie.
Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of Queen until his untimely death in 1991, and he is what made
Queen so iconic. Mercury once said "I won't be a rock star. I will be a legend." And he did exactly
that. Mercury is considered by many to be the greatest frontman of all time. He was admired

Essay on Till We Have Faces and The Vision of Ungit
Till We Have Faces and The Vision of Ungit
Queen Orual of Glome, the main character in C.S. Lewis's Till We Have Faces is often the victim of
mysterious visions that appear to relate to her real–life experiences. In one of her final visions,
Queen Orual dreams that she is Ungit, an all–consuming goddess who is worshipped by the people
of Glome. Orual definitely is Ungit; she has several characteristics that give evidence of this. Orual
is all–consuming and possessive in her relationships with other people; she wears a veil to cover her
ugly face, giving her a resemblance to the forbidding goddess; she is very demanding of her
servants, which is similar to the intense rituals and sacrifices that Ungit demands. ... Show more

Orual is not pleased with this negative portrayal of herself, but she has to admit that her ambitions
took precedence over Bardia's personal needs. Orual writes, "Heaven knows how we had tormented
him, Ansit and I. For it needs no Oedipus to guess that many and many a night, her jealousy of me
welcomed him home to a bitter hearth" (202).
Orual believes that the veil she wears to hide her ugly face is one of her strengths. The veil creates a
mysterious aura that grows with each passing year. The more the memory of the Queen's face fades,
the wilder the stories about what her veil contains become. The resemblance to a mysterious and
unfathomable goddess is unmistakable. Orual writes, "no one believed it was anything so common
as the face of an ugly woman. Some said it was frightful beyond endurance; a pig's, bear's, cat's, or
elephant's face. The best story was that I had no face at all; if you stripped off my veil you would
find emptiness. The upshot of all this was that I became something mysterious and awful. I have
seen ambassadors turn white like scared children when I faced them"(172).
There are several rituals that the citizens of Glome follow when they are paying homage to Ungit.
They have to "keep girls in her house, brides have to give her gifts, and in a bad year someone's
throat is cut and blood is poured over the stone goddess" (6).

King Armros Of Delphys Compare And Contrast
King Armros of Delphys was a powerful and corrupt king. It was said that long ago, Ares gifted him
with the power of invincibility, although no one is old enough to know if that is true or not.
Believing himself to be immortal, Armros ruled his nation with an iron fist, imposing strict rules and
harsh punishments if those rules were broken. He longed for power and control, which is why the
nearby nation of Narta vexed him so much. Narta's queen, Adermis, was kind and fair. Nartian
people came and went where and when they chose without hardly a care in the world, free of the
constricting rules of Delphys. The cheerful laughter and freedom of the nearby nation made the king
angry, so he sent his army to attack Narta, in hopes of conquering and gaining control of the
peaceful land. The war had been going on for nearly fourteen years. The Nartian guard was much
stronger than King Armos had previously thought. But this battle would be much different, for
Armros had devised a horrible, horrible plan. He spoke to the captain of Delphys's army, Elester.
"Send in a much smaller division straight to the front lines." He instructed. "Then, when those
Nartian fools think they have us beaten, send in two of the largest divisions possible from the sides.
Slaughter every last one of them! Have no mercy and leave no man standing!" He ... Show more

in a sudden shock as his power was taken from him. As she removed her hand, he slumped back, as

The Importance Of Stereotypes In Literature
Stereotypes run rampant in the literary world today. It is much easier to write a stereotypical
character because of the reader expects them to act or respond a certain way and does not require an
explanation of their motivation. But much like Chimamanda Adichie warns, "Show a people as only
one thing over and over again, and that is what they become" (Adichie 00:09:25–00:09:37). But this
issue is often addressed in reference to the protagonist. The hero is always white; the hero is always
attractive. The hero never disserves to suffer. Single stories do not just refer to the physical
characteristics of the character, though in can and often does. The heroes all tend to look the same so
we associate goodness with that specific physical description, but motivations can be just as
misleading. All the heroes do good things because they lived the same experiences, so these
experiences make someone good. Also society remains so focused on the single story surrounding
the protagonist, it often forgets the other main component of a story, the antagonist. But by
dissecting the possible motivations for the villains, as my adaption does, I hope to explore the
different avenues to villainy and in turn disrupt their single story. Both nature and nurture can cause
a person to do and say the things they do in later life regardless of whether these things are good or
bad. In my adaptation, both Bluebeard and the evil queen have a corrupted source of nurture.

This is a relatively new diagnosis in the personality disorder literature, and there is very little written
on its psychodynamics (Perry, Presniak, & Olson, 2013). According to the DMS–V, the criteria for
Schizotypal Personality Disorder includes the following: "A.) (1.) ideas of reference (excluding
delusions of reference), (2.) odd belief or magical thinking that influences behavior and is
inconsistent with subcultural norms (e.g., superstitiousness, belief in clairvoyance, telepathy, or
"sixth sense"; in children and adolescents, bizarre fantasies or preoccupations), (3.) unusual
perceptual experiences, including bodily illusions, (4.) odd thinking and speech (e.g., vague,
circumstantial, metaphorical, overelaborate, or stereotyped), (5.) suspiciousness or paranoid
ideation, (6.) inappropriate or constricted affect, (7.) behavior or appearance that is odd, eccentric,
or particular, (8.) lack of close friends or confidants other than first–degree relatives, (9.) excessive
social anxiety that does not diminish with familiarity and tends to be associated with paranoid fears
rather than negative judgments about self" (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). From the
following criteria, the Mad Hatter suffers from odd thinking and speech,

Fear Is Power Analysis
The author Marie Lu exemplified the idea that 'fear is power' in the novel The Young Elites as the
central moral of the story. As stated, Adelina's power to create illusions is fueled by the fear and hate
in her environment. Indeed the intentions Adelina has never fall short of being eerie and unsettling,
to understand her view on how strongly fear triggers her intense ability. It had already been
discovered that large numbers of people in one area provides more fear for her to consume. This
passage just illuminated the statement revealing a bit of her twisted personality. "I can practically
smell the terror... The darkness inside me hungers for it, yearning to break free, and I have to force
down the irresistible urge to flood this entire square with illusions of Underworld monsters." Even
during all of this, Adelina's hatred for the Inquisition Axis still burns like a raging fire inside of her,
"Let the Inquisition Axis see what happens when they force us to humiliate ourselves." her revenge
against them constantly lurking at the back of her mind.
Another example of Adelina's power being strengthened to its peak was in the middle of war. One
queen fighting to gain another's land. One queen lying in her throne room bleeding out in both her
lover and murder's hands. And one future queen, ready to fuel her energy to an overwhelming rate ...

A Poetical Analysis of Queen¡¯s Bohemian Rhapsody

anyone can see" till the end shows an almost textbook example of this. Note the difference between
ritardando and rubato. The latter is a whole branch of musicology and studies the way a performer
should increase or decrease the tempo in certain moments from a musical work. For instance,
Chopin's pieces usually require such approach although he never put down in writing where he
wanted to hurry up and where he wanted to slow down. That's why rubato is one of the most
sophisticated techniques in music and demands a quite considerable musical sense and talent.
In ¡°Bohemian Rhapsody¡± certain chord progressions are used frequently. The heavy and looped
use of such chord progressions often results in a very predictable song. For certain listeners this is
good, and it even helps them to memorize the piece. For many others, though, the clich¨¦–based
songs get boring very quickly, especially if the melody is also predictable. Queen use a very limited
and tasteful use of clich¨¦s, a very nice example of this is Bohemian Rhapsody and the clich¨¦s in the

The tone and mood of Bohemian Rhapsody varies throughout the song. It begins with a slow and
pitiful chorus that only murmuringly hints of the possible explosion later. Mercury¡¯s first verse

Psychoanism In Alice In Wonderland
Based on the children's literary work written by Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland is a fictional
film that was directed by Tim Burton. The film is set in Wonderland inside of Alice's dream, so
viewers are able to recognize the lack of order and the fantasies of children. One of the major
themes seen in the movie is childhood, specifically the development into adulthood, which is
depicted in other characters besides Alice. Alice, however, is used as the primary symbol for what
children in the Victorian Age should not ideally act like, since they were expected to dress properly
and attain a certain level of education. Furthermore, Sigmund Freud's dream theory and tripartite
give further insight into the characters and what they represented during the Victorian Age. The id,
ego, and the superego are applied to the unconscious and conscious mind states, and how the
unconscious state is still somewhat available during a conscious state. In Alice in Wonderland,

With the help of the Red Queen, Absolem, and the White Queen, representing the id, ego, and

Queen found pleasure in taking people's heads off. The caterpillar was able to use his wisdom and
practicality to make judgements about Alice in Wonderland, which shows hour the ego operates.
The superego was portrayed by the White Queen, who knew the difference between right and wrong
in Wonderland. In the human mind, all three are present in either a conscious or an unconscious
state. In the film, Alice knows that her imagination has taken over, which was not admired of

Symbolism in Tim Burton´s Films Essay
In the words of Tim Burton, "One person's craziness is another person's reality." This is the truth for
the magical movies he has put together. Burton grew up different from others; he was an outcast
from the people around him. Enjoying B movies, he would watch them a great deal. Out of all the
characters, Burton preferred the monsters or strange creatures. Some inspirations to him are Edgar
Allen Poe, Roald Dahl, and Vincent Price. He frowns upon conformity, for he prefers individuality.
What is normal to Burton could be completely wild to another. In Tim Burton's distinctive films, he
uses symbolism and the comparison of individuality and conformity to emphasize the purity of an
outsider. To start, symbolism was used in Edward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A key part of the symbolism in the movie is changing colors. For instance, Ilosovic Stayne, the red
queen's partner, has an eye patch that goes back and forth from black and red. This shows how he
was deceiving character that faked liking the red queen for his own benefit. Additionally, the mad
hatter's eye color changes with his mood. When he is calm, they are green, but when he gets angry,
they turn red. To conclude, Tim Burton uses symbolism to give a deeper lesson and to clear up the
state of a character. Moreover, Burton uses satire to emphasize Edward's innocence; all characters
represented a different flaw in society. For example, all of the housewives were nosy. One of them
was particularly religious and judgmental. Burton portrays Joyce as a flirtatious liar. Kim's
boyfriend, on the other hand, was controlling and impulsive. In contrast, Edward had none of these
faults. The town that they live in is made out to look perfect and neat, while Edward's home is scary
and intimidating. In reality, the castle is more of a humane place than the town. The real monsters
are the "regular" people. To sum up, Burton gives a negative connotation towards society, verse
praise towards uniqueness using satire. Similarly, Alice in Wonderland also uses satire throughout
the movie. First and foremost, everyone who lives in the red queens castle, that's not an animal,
faked having large features. Some had big ears, a big nose, or a big belly. This showed that

The White Queen Called It, Living Backwards
The White Queen called it "living backwards." She was referring, of course, to life on the other side
of a looking glass. Indeed, traveling through a looking glass, if it were possible, would be a
contortion of space, a reversal of the orderly world in the "frontward" side of the glass with the
disorder found in the "backward" side. Everything would, like the queen said, be turned around. So
if someone in Victorian England squeezed herself through a looking glass, she might find, instead of
the classic Victorian ideal of the tranquil home where the husband brought home the bacon and the
wife happily cooked it, homes in which strong wives dominated weak, ineffectual husbands and
husbands who, instead of coming home each evening to restore themselves within the loving
familial bond, escaped that bond by taking long naps and dreaming strange dreams. Indeed, instead
of finding homes in which the spaces between marriage partners were narrowed, someone
wandering through a looking glass world would find emotional gulfs between partners, gulfs that
even the most stringent Victorian ideals could not close. These emotional spaces in Lewis Carroll's
Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There can be seen through another lens as well.
While Alice, the book's heroine, metaphorically grows into adulthood as she moves her way across
the fictional chessboard, the author remains static; Carroll watches wistfully as the emotional space

As she was born, she bore death. The child came in the recesses of a dull and barren winter, on a
night that had been so cold that it felt hollow, like a jagged hole bitten out of the earth. The queen
mother had died just hours after the birth. A fever, so the physicians claimed. A common tragedy, a
palatable truth.
The rumors persisted: the body was found bloodless, the child still in her arms.
"It's a shame," the nursemaids said to one another. The child was swaddled in mourning clothes.
Crepe black seemed to constrain her throat, a sharp contrast against her pallid skin. They preferred
to keep the child covered, for even a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story emphasizes how the princess is confined due to her status as a woman, and is additionally
degraded due to her failures at performing femininity. She lacks the "softness" and "grace" expected
of her, therefore and cannot perform in traditionally feminine roles, exemplified by her inability and
unwillingness to attract a suitor at the masquerade. She instead to embraces her unfeminine and
monstrous tendencies, preying on the men in the forest and thus gaining power by retaking what
they had "stolen" from nature (which, as a woman, is tied to her own being.) In line with Nancy
Chodorow's theory of "Family Structure and Feminine Personality", the princess's ineptitude of
femininity stems from her lack of female socialization. Her birth mother dies in childbirth, and is
further shunned by her stepmother; after this, she receives no maternal guidance or connection, and
is "passed from hand to hand" between various faux–maternal figures. Parental relationships are
fraught with tense strife. The monster can only achieve her goals when reconnected with a maternal
figure, and allowed to consume (though a tad grotesquely) the love that could be "only fully given
by a mother," which is to say a mother's sacrifice for the sake of her child. In so doing, both the
queen and princess break from traditional gender

Descriptive Essay About Times Square
When you mention New York to anyone, they automatically think about Times Square. This
beautiful place with skyscrapers, Central Park, and a unique transportation system. However, if you
were to ask me what I think about New York; I believe the skyscrapers block the sun, Central park is
just a regular park for dogs, and the subway trains rarely run consistently especially in the mornings.
I have lived in New York for 18 years, and I have yet to understand what everyone likes about the "
Big Red Apple." Growing up as a resident of New York, one is taught that there's an opportunity in
every corner, but that's not exactly what I see. I have gone to all the tourist sights, and have yet to
find it as fascinating as other states such as: California, Florida, Virginia, Boston or even
Washington D.C.. Times Square was beautiful in the beginning, but then you get harassed by every
person with a costume on, or even if you take a picture with Elmo they charge you five dollars.
Everything is also overpriced, no one should be paying a hundred dollars to ride on a horse, or
paying three dollars per minute on a bicycle ride. Many neighborhoods have changed, if you go
down to Brooklyn it is now hipster, and isn't the way it was before which was considered the
"ghetto." Everyone is paying for an experience that can be found in any state and at any time. Also,
the traffic that goes on in the trains and on the streets is insane. Whether you take the Long Island
expressway, the Clearview expressway or any other expressway you are going to find traffic.
New york is probably known as one of the most rat infested city. There are many programs that try
to end the rat dilemma, but the rat population is so large that it's hard to control. Not only are rats
found on the train, they are also found in neighborhoods such as the Bronx. Many people complain
about the rat situation to the city, but the homeowners take no action when it's time to clean up their
own mess (Bragdon et al., 2007–2009). Many of the rats that are seen all over the city are huge, and
go crawling around for any food that they can find, mainly in trash cans. Whitestone, Queens is the
neighborhood that I grew up in. Whitestone is a small community, predominantly

A Brief Note On Robert Moses, Richard Ravitch And Othmar...
Throughout the course of history there have been many advances in the world of infrastructure,
mostly occurring in the 1800's and the 1900's. Infrastructure is defined as the basic physical and
organizational structure needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and
facilities necessary for an economy to function. This definition shows how important infrastructure
is to people's lives today. It affects how people live, travel, and communicate with one another.
Three men who made huge contributions in the world of infrastructure were Robert Moses, Richard
Ravitch and Othmar Hermann Ammann. All three of these men were involved in designing
numerous landmarks, highways, bridges, tunnels, and other forms of infrastructure that today we
take for granted. Although all of these men were involved in infrastructure in the New York
metropolitan area, their contributions, personalities, and the public's opinion of them were all
different. Robert Moses was born in New Haven Connecticut. He is considered the "master builder"
of New York City, Long Island, Rockland county, and Westchester county of the mid 1900's. After
graduating from Yale and earning a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia, Robert Moses became
attracted to New York City reform politics. Moses caught the notice of Belle Moskowitz, an advisor
to Al Smith. Moses rose to power with Al Smith, who became governor of New York in 1922.
Robert Moses was in charge in the development of Jones Beach

Reflection Of Andromeda
Andromeda All the gold in the kingdom the Ethiopian king and queen would have paid To be rid of
their princess and the evils with which she came: Lack of discernment regarding trade and economic
policy, Utter disregard for fishing, trimmings, and cooks, Little intention of doing anything more
Than tending to the needs of the poor, The weary, the of–no–use. They lambasted her with lessons,
praises, and charm, But the young girl seemed destined only for harm, Falling short of their well–
wishes With no interest in kingdom–keeping. Turning sixteen years old should have been considered
a feat, But the banquet was subject to brooding and deceit.
"Were our daughter nothing short of a Nereid in appearance," Muttered the queen in a moment of
defeat, "There would be no hope left–not one, my dear sweet." "For though she has neither brains
nor cunning, The likeness of Poseidon's dearest attendants Shall certainly keep the suitors coming."
No sooner exhaled than did great Hermes appear, Bearing dreadful news to all who would hear. For
such blasphemy spoken against the Sea King's ear, The kingdom would surely face the wrath of
Cetus, The worst of prawns that the god could bid appear. "But were you, oh mortals, to tether your
daughter there At high tide in three nights' time, Upon the highest rock standing over the pit of
despair, The kingdom would certainly be spared." Thus Hermes left the king, queen, and kingdom to
disrepair. Now the king and queen were nothing if not

Rich White Welfare Queens Analysis

  • 1. Rich White Welfare Queens Analysis America is known by being the land of freedom, and those who inhabit it love to point out how much of that freedom they want to keep – mainly when it is about the government not telling them how to spend their money. If taking away income taxes to pay welfare to poor people is always a big debate in the land of Uncle Sam, some people believe it should sparkle even more revolt when that money is being given to rich, very rich people. Touching that issue, the columnist Jon Caldara wrote the article "Rich, White Welfare Queens" at the Denver Post Online two weeks ago. Caldara is a well–known Coloradan libertarian, which can sound like a liberal in most of the world, but in the US is nothing more than those individuals who believe that governments should never or almost never interfere in the economy. Because of that background, he often beats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caldara purposely leaves aside almost all possible counter arguments. If he does talk about electric cars actually helping the world in a general way, he does not bring any other arguments that people in favor of both subsidies certainly have. For example, when we have movies and TV shows being filmed in Colorado, wouldn't that somehow stimulate the local film industry, for example? The author completely ignores any possible positive outcomes, but if his audience is in fact educated, that artifice might be a shot on his own foot. At realizing how he leaves aside the regulation for that government help, he makes the reader question how truthful he is being about everything else. Maybe there's actually a lot of requirements both for electric cars drivers and filmmakers before they can see any of the state money? Leaving the reader in the dark might work for a more general audience, but that is not his traditional public; anyone with a minimal critical sense might skip his arguments when the other side is not given any ... • 2. The King Of The Queen Once upon a time in a kingdom far away there lived a king and Queen who wanted a child of their own. The next day there was a miracle, the Queen was going to have a baby but the Queen was too ill to have the baby. The King was worried that his wife will pass so will the baby if he don 't do something about it. The King ordered the maids to watch over his wife while he looked for a cure for her illness in the kingdom. He got a group of soldiers that same day to find a cure for his wife to get better. All the soldiers and himself went looking all over the kingdom for a special plant that can heal anything or anyone. The King separated the soldiers and the king went riding his horse deep in the forest where he found a garden in the forest and that garden had the most beautiful flower, the flower glowed and brightened up the dark forest. Racially the statistics show the 50 percent majority are Blacks, while Hispanics and Whites make up 40 percent, and the other 10 percent being Asian and varying others. The varying cultures of these races and the different places they all come from, make Jamaica a very diverse area. For my ethnographic study, I went to the Jamaica Market and Food Court. It's a busy little place in the middle of a busy town. It's an attractive place, colorful with all the stores having bright colors for their names and bright neon lights, it's tall and in turn seems very spacious even though it's not very large to walk in. It's also very inviting with all the smells of the different foods it has. There's a television displaying the news, to occupy the minds of many people who just go there to eat and leave in a hurry. A downside to this hub is that they don't provide Wi–Fi to the customers in it. I went to this market on the Monday of November 27th. I went at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon. The reason being, that during this time it's usually a busy area, and gets crowded, especially with all the teenagers of the area, which held the majority of the people there. • 5. Stories of People before Us It was many years ago, long before your beloved parents or even their own. It was far past the time when skyscrapers first began their grazing of the heavens, past even the taking advantage of devote teachers. Further still, our story takes us. Much like many tales of this sort– there is perhaps little truth weaved in all– that serve not as references for literal information but references for wisdom and understanding. I do not profess that readers who study these tomes will come out any the wiser, nor is it this tome's sole purpose. Some things in life do not require purpose nor plan, but moving forward. Before our world, there was perhaps another. In it lived a single person, a woman perhaps, who ruled over all the animals and plants. She, like most others, did not enjoy her solitude and decided to design a people to accompany her. So thus, people came to be. Despite the people, she had no joy. Those she had created were savage, greedy, and sinful. It displeased her. However, she was merciful and could not bring herself to destroy them, so instead felt it necessary to guide them. To assist her she created a new type of people, one who would embody all that she valued. These people would be rulers and would rule over the other citizens. To form her new rulers she took four traits, agápē (unconditional love), compassion, generosity, trustworthiness, and composed one whom she would entrust with her people. Carefully she layered a combination of agápē– trustworthiness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. OFF, by Mortis Ghost What truly makes a 'villain' to us? Is it the need to cause mayhem, a long, resounding evil laugh? Or just someone whose values run in opposition to ours? Whatever the case may be, we perceive these characters carefully, recognizing them almost instantly as forces to be reckoned with– That is, most of the time. In the next few paragraphs I aim to explore why what the most frightening of villains terrify us the most. Mortis Ghost's 'OFF', a french RPG from 2007, will be our setting for this phenomenal antagonist. This indie game features a delightful soundtrack, strategic turn–based combat, and an increasingly dark storyline. The adventure begins with you, the player, being assigned to control a stoic hero known as 'The Batter'. If he expressed emotions, he would be probably be indifferent to your being his puppeteer. Regardless, you and he proceed through a land called Zone 0, entrusted by some unknown force with the task of 'purifying' the land. You encounter a stray, eloquent and articulate cat calling itself 'The Judge'. It assists you in getting oriented in the world, and guides you safety through the deserted landscape and to the cusp of the first inhabited zone, Zone 1. It departs, promising to see you again. As you advance through Zones 1, 2, and 3, The Batter continues to insist he is the savior of the world, sent to purify the evils within. As the blue King retreated to the edge of the field, the black king trailed from behind. The black king halted six feet from his foe. Neither advanced toward the other, for whoever stepped in the space between them would be slayed down by the other. The Kings paced left and right down the side of the board. This could have gone on for hours, but Dad and I knew that neither one of us would move our king forward, so the chess game ended in a draw. Technically neither one of us won, but I always counted draws as a win. My dad, who taught me how to play, was great at chess, so it was near impossible for me to beat him. To be a master at chess you have to have a great teacher– who is patient and skilled–, be able to strategize, and, most importantly, enjoy playing the game. Oddly, I became interested in chess because of my interest in Checkers. Checkers was a special game between my dad and me. I played Checkers only with my dad, and that became "our" game. Queen and Freddie Mercury's Importance and Influence on Artists Queen is an iconic rock band from the 70's whose influence transcends genres and continues to inspire and affect artists to this day. There are three main reasons that Queen continues to be so influential and well known, even decades after their peak has passed. The first and most obvious reason is Queen's frontman, Freddie Mercury, and his amazing performances and extraordinary vocal range. The next reason is Queen's accomplishments and the many awards they won during their time. The final reason is their tendency to take risks, break the mold, and experiment. I also cited many reliable dictionaries such as Merriam–Webster's Dictionary, Oxford Dictionaries, and Cambridge Dictionaries to define different key terms that appear throughout the paper. Queen's music is still a significant part of today's pop culture. Two more examples of Queen's songs appearing in film are the use of the the song "Bohemian Rhapsody" in the 1992 film Wayne's World, and the use of the song "Don't Stop Me Now" in the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead. "Don't Stop Me Now" has also recently made an appearance in commericals for the 2018 Toyota Camry. The fact that Queen's music is still so popular to this day is a testament to their timelessness and their talent. Most people have probably heard a Queen song at some point in their life, whether it was on the radio or in a movie. Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of Queen until his untimely death in 1991, and he is what made Queen so iconic. Mercury once said "I won't be a rock star. I will be a legend." In one of her final visions, Queen Orual dreams that she is Ungit, an all–consuming goddess who is worshipped by the people of Glome. Orual definitely is Ungit; she has several characteristics that give evidence of this. Orual believes that the veil she wears to hide her ugly face is one of her strengths. The veil creates a mysterious aura that grows with each passing year. The more the memory of the Queen's face fades, the wilder the stories about what her veil contains become. The resemblance to a mysterious and unfathomable goddess is unmistakable. Orual writes, "no one believed it was anything so common as the face of an ugly woman. Some said it was frightful beyond endurance; a pig's, bear's, cat's, or elephant's face. The best story was that I had no face at all; if you stripped off my veil you would find emptiness. The upshot of all this was that I became something mysterious and awful. I have seen ambassadors turn white like scared children when I faced them"(172). There are several rituals that the citizens of Glome follow when they are paying homage to Ungit. But this issue is often addressed in reference to the protagonist. The hero is always white; the hero is always attractive. The hero never disserves to suffer. Single stories do not just refer to the physical characteristics of the character, though in can and often does. The heroes all tend to look the same so we associate goodness with that specific physical description, but motivations can be just as misleading. All the heroes do good things because they lived the same experiences, so these experiences make someone good. Also society remains so focused on the single story surrounding the protagonist, it often forgets the other main component of a story, the antagonist. But by dissecting the possible motivations for the villains, as my adaption does, I hope to explore the different avenues to villainy and in turn disrupt their single story. Both nature and nurture can cause a person to do and say the things they do in later life regardless of whether these things are good or bad. In my adaptation, both Bluebeard and the evil queen have a corrupted source of nurture. Bluebeard's dad murders a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As stated, Adelina's power to create illusions is fueled by the fear and hate in her environment. Indeed the intentions Adelina has never fall short of being eerie and unsettling, to understand her view on how strongly fear triggers her intense ability. It had already been discovered that large numbers of people in one area provides more fear for her to consume. This passage just illuminated the statement revealing a bit of her twisted personality. "I can practically smell the terror... The darkness inside me hungers for it, yearning to break free, and I have to force down the irresistible urge to flood this entire square with illusions of Underworld monsters." Even during all of this, Adelina's hatred for the Inquisition Axis still burns like a raging fire inside of her, "Let the Inquisition Axis see what happens when they force us to humiliate ourselves." her revenge against them constantly lurking at the back of her mind. Another example of Adelina's power being strengthened to its peak was in the middle of war. One queen fighting to gain another's land. The film is set in Wonderland inside of Alice's dream, so viewers are able to recognize the lack of order and the fantasies of children. One of the major themes seen in the movie is childhood, specifically the development into adulthood, which is depicted in other characters besides Alice. Alice, however, is used as the primary symbol for what children in the Victorian Age should not ideally act like, since they were expected to dress properly and attain a certain level of education. Furthermore, Sigmund Freud's dream theory and tripartite give further insight into the characters and what they represented during the Victorian Age. Burton grew up different from others; he was an outcast from the people around him. Enjoying B movies, he would watch them a great deal. Out of all the characters, Burton preferred the monsters or strange creatures. Some inspirations to him are Edgar Allen Poe, Roald Dahl, and Vincent Price. He frowns upon conformity, for he prefers individuality. What is normal to Burton could be completely wild to another. In Tim Burton's distinctive films, he uses symbolism and the comparison of individuality and conformity to emphasize the purity of an outsider. To start, symbolism was used in Edward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A key part of the symbolism in the movie is changing colors. For instance, Ilosovic Stayne, the red queen's partner, has an eye patch that goes back and forth from black and red. This shows how he was deceiving character that faked liking the red queen for his own benefit. Additionally, the mad hatter's eye color changes with his mood. When he is calm, they are green, but when he gets angry, they turn red. To conclude, Tim Burton uses symbolism to give a deeper lesson and to clear up the state of a character. Moreover, Burton uses satire to emphasize Edward's innocence; all characters represented a different flaw in society. For example, all of the housewives were nosy. One of them was particularly religious and judgmental. Burton portrays Joyce as a flirtatious liar. Kim's boyfriend, on the other hand, was controlling and impulsive. In contrast, Edward had none of these faults. The town that they live in is made out to look perfect and neat, while Edward's home is scary and intimidating. In reality, the castle is more of a humane place than the town. The real monsters are the "regular" people. To sum up, Burton gives a negative connotation towards society, verse praise towards uniqueness using satire. Similarly, Alice in Wonderland also uses satire throughout the movie. • 37. The White Queen Called It, Living Backwards The White Queen called it "living backwards." She was referring, of course, to life on the other side of a looking glass. Indeed, traveling through a looking glass, if it were possible, would be a contortion of space, a reversal of the orderly world in the "frontward" side of the glass with the disorder found in the "backward" side. Everything would, like the queen said, be turned around. So if someone in Victorian England squeezed herself through a looking glass, she might find, instead of the classic Victorian ideal of the tranquil home where the husband brought home the bacon and the wife happily cooked it, homes in which strong wives dominated weak, ineffectual husbands and husbands who, instead of coming home each evening to restore themselves within the loving familial bond, escaped that bond by taking long naps and dreaming strange dreams. Indeed, instead of finding homes in which the spaces between marriage partners were narrowed, someone wandering through a looking glass world would find emotional gulfs between partners, gulfs that even the most stringent Victorian ideals could not close. These emotional spaces in Lewis Carroll's Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There can be seen through another lens as well. She lacks the "softness" and "grace" expected of her, therefore and cannot perform in traditionally feminine roles, exemplified by her inability and unwillingness to attract a suitor at the masquerade. She instead to embraces her unfeminine and monstrous tendencies, preying on the men in the forest and thus gaining power by retaking what they had "stolen" from nature (which, as a woman, is tied to her own being.) In line with Nancy Chodorow's theory of "Family Structure and Feminine Personality", the princess's ineptitude of femininity stems from her lack of female socialization.
