  1. Muscle tissue, which comprises about 40% of the human body weight, consist of threads, or muscle fibers, supported by connective tissue.
  2. 2 Types of the structure of muscle Smooth or “ Involuntary” muscles -are found in the walls of all the hollow organs and tubes of the body. Striated or “voluntary” muscles -the body are attached mostly to the bones to move the skeleton. These muscles are capable of fast contraction.
  3. FUNCTION OF MUSCLE Skeletal muscles perform a variety of different function, all which are important to efficient performance of human body. 3 functions relating specifically to human movement; a. Contributing to skeletal movement b. Assisting in joint stability c. Maintaining posture and body positioning
  4. Produce Movement Skeletal movement is created as muscle actions generate tensions that are transferred to the bone. Maintain Postures and Position Muscle action a lesser magnitude are utilized to maintain postures. Stabilize Joints Muscle actions also contribute significantly to the stability of the joints.
  5. Other Functions The skeletal muscle also provide four other function that are not directly related to human movement. First, muscles support and protect the visceral organs and protect the internal tissues from injury. Second, tension in the muscle tissue can alter and control pressures within the cavities. Third, the skeletal muscles also contribute to the maintenance of the body temperature by producing it.
